Is my A64 3000 @2.7 ok with 1.65 vcore? My idle temp is 33c and load (like Prime95) is about 53c.

just make sure you don't let the temp go too much higher than what you have now ;)

That is one HELL of an overclock! Congrats!

As said before, be careful with the tempertaures... anything over 50 starts to make me uncomfortable. Maybe invest in some better cooling?

Might consider not clocking it that high 24/7-- just for benchmarking.

Are you running an FSB of 270 (newcastle core) or 300 (winchester/newcastle lowered multi)? Or perhaps a divider?

from the temps, assuming no w/c i would say hes running a winnie, mine runs at those temps on stock cooling

My 3000 does 2.5, but i run it @ 2.4 ... plenty fast.

congrats on the overclock tho!

It's a winnie, i have it set to 3X ltd, memory clock @300mhz with a 133 divider so my memory is basically running at pc3200 spd.

Hehe im already using an XP-120 i guess the next step up is a WC kit. :D

Thanks to everyone, but i might have to clock it 45mhz lower (2655).I got an error with Prime95 after 6 hours. It would have been a very nice OC,but then again, i guess i still should be happy than i got it running 755mhz above stock. :)

Thanks again...

Try some better cooling, though even at 2655 that is an -awesome- overclock.

I've got a winnie(3000+) doing 2.6 at 1.6volts w/a xp-90, temps are low80's idle, low 90's load i wonder if my sensor is screwy or something. It does show changes, but not the kind of temps others are getting. Maybe i have the coolest a64 eva?

btw, nice oc. But with 90nm athlon64's its like shooting ducks in a barrel.

yeah, i'm guessing you have a 0447SPAW :D

completely arbitrary guess. you can find out if you read the second line of the opn on the heatspreader (as you probably already know though)

ah, well i got the week right :D
at least you didn't do what i did and take a picture of it. and now i have the heatspreader sitting on my monitor base, i practically have the thing memorized now

HOLY....1.8ghz@2.7.... a whopping 900mhz overclock...and loads only 53.....WOW..WOW....I bet that thing and bust 3ghz with water.....anyways its fine with 53 load.

just don't get a 3000+ from the egg. if you do purchase from the egg, buy a 3200+ or 3500+, cause it seems that all the kids who got poor oc'ing 3000+'s (and i'm sure the 3200 and 3500 too, but to a lesser extent) rma'd the thing for a better one. and now egg is shipping those poor oc'ing 3000's back out again.

btw, 2000th post :D

2.7 on air....I take my hat off to you sir, well done

Cooling isn't really an issue with the Winchester cores because they are 90nm and use less voltage so they dont get all that hot compared to a Newcastle or Clawhammer. You usually get a good overclocker or you dont and upping the voltage alot doesn't usually help much.

I got mine from mwave they seem to have great prices.
how long ago did you order it?
if i ordered one now, do you think i'd get a 0447? or would they have sold out a month ago?

if i called them, or emailed, do you think they'd check for me?

i was at compusa today, and all thier s939 processors were 0501 or 0503 :( (yes i checked them) and they were $200 for the 3000+ and $250 for the 3200+ :(

Well, basically i just wanna find a nice OC'ing s939 cpu to go in my dfi nf4 ut ultra-d, and 0447 sounds like what im looking for.

TIA, KarateBob.
