3/8" OD fittings have more throughput than 1/2" OD?

3/8" fitting, on my not so scientific measuring stick..

1/2" on the same pen, notice the line from the 3/8" fitting! It's up higher, at a wider spot on the pen!

Am I crazy? Will using 3/8" tubing in fact be more beneficial than 1/2"? I understand that the 1/2" tubing has more volume in it, but if it's restricted by the fittings is it really worthwhile?

Those aren't the best fittings to use. If you're going with DangerDen (they're a damn good company), I'd say to get the high-flow fittings, rather than the sure seals, or whatever they call 'em.

I've got some, they're an even smaller diameter than the 1/2" sure seal! I'll get a pic later, they're installed on my pump right now that's leak testing.

Using my own gear, I determined that with what I had, 1/2" offered absolutely no performance gain. It was harder to install, and much more cluttered looking. I'll stick with 3/8" until I builld new, then test again. Diminishing returns always come somewhere, mine was between 3/8 and 1/2 somewhere.

Heh... technically, looks like an issue...

But, I'll be DAMNED if you get any better temperatures between the two. Statistically significant, at the least...

The difference between an entire 3/8 and 1/2 loop is tiny at best anyways... I just like the look of larger tubing ;)

Well, I've used all 1/2" in the past, but I agree with Kil4Thril about how difficult the 1/2" is to setup. I'm trying 3/8" hoping it will be a little easier to configure.
