guys i just upgraded my computer and pretty much have all new stuff including a thermaltake toughpower 650w power supply. Basically i installed asus probe 2 just for the hell of it and i got an alarm that showed my Vcore at 1.14 , does that mean my power supply is not good ? or is asus probe not very accurate? like to know if i need to return my power supply or not , thanks for the help.

just to add on this guys i went into the bios and it shows Vcore steady at 1.280 so not sure about any of these numbers if they are normal etc it's a brand new psu so any info would be appreciated, thanks

do not trust any software readings regarding such things. a proper instrument which is able to give you accurate readings can cost as much as the motherboard itself. if the system runs fine, there isnt anything to worry about.

Correct. Also, what are you running? A Core2Duo, Athlon64, what? We can't really say if it's normal without knowing what specs it should be within. As a general rule, give the hardware you're running when asking for help.

Now, software reading are unreliable, /but/, some are normally 'better' than others. Get a copy of Speedfan, CoreTemp, and CPU-Z. For one, these 3 apps are just good to have around, especially if you do any overclocking, and two, between the 3 you may be able to get a better idea of your actual vcore.

sounds like speedstep.. lowers voltage if the proc isn't in use. 1.2v isn't too low for a 65nm chip, provided you're not overclocking :). is windows crashing?

but yeah, software readings of voltages can vary greatly .. cpu-z is about the most accurate I've found to measure it.

thanks guys, i'm running
intel core 2 duo 2.66MHz
thermaltake toughpower 650W
2 gig ocz 1066
Asus en8800gtx aquatank

Ya everything seems to be running fine i only noticed because for fun i tried out asus probe 2 and the alarm kept going off one that meter, but that being said i have read many people saying that its not a very accurate program and like you guys say im sure there is a reason the good ones charge that much. Thanks all the same
