Rumor: Titan V in April, GTX 1080 in June

They are paper launching in April so no to any cards then. At best 6 weeks after that.

Around the same timeframe as Fury X2 huh. That'll be interesting to see how that battle turns out.

Isn't AMD also scheduled to launch Polaris around that timeframe?

I really wanted it to be called the Titan D....

Pretty sure it'd be more of a slaughter (Next Titan vs Fury X2) if the rumors are true about the new Titan. Double node shrink, double the transistors, more VRAM, $1B in architectural changes, ect. Plus single card vs crossfire... It won't be pretty.

Personally I am going to wait for all the cards to be shown including VR.

I expect Pascal vs Polaris to be a similar situation to today, if AMD can get their drivers in line.

I read that Pascal Titan is coming around April, GTX 1080/1070 during the summer, and 1080Ti June 2017....
JUNE 2017!!!

Think I'll just buy a second 980 Ti. Probably someone will be selling their cheap once Pascal Titan is near release.

I'll definitely be salivating when the pascal line comes out, but I will definitely avoid buying it. From now on I won't buy anything but the Ti version of Nvidia cards. It's Pascal Ti or nothing! :)

Well if this is the case I believe I'll just hold off a while longer before my Display/Videocard upgrade. No sense buying right now when I can hold off a few months until the new generations of nVidia and AMD are released. That also gives me time to research 4K monitors a bit more before I buy a replacement for my Seiki 39".

I'm hoping that 1080 or whatever it's called will drop prices on existing GPUs.

980Ti at $400 would be pretty damn awesome.

I may be able to snag a third Titan X for cheap! This works out foe everyone!

4K displays with DP 1.3 support (and thus capable of over 60 Hz refresh rates) are coming earliest at the end of the year so I don't mind if the Pascal Ti only comes out next year. I just hope this year's Pascals aren't so good that my 980 Ti becomes worth nothing overnight.

Fuckers. I just finished my loop with a second 980 Ti.

Don't worry, you're good for a while. In any case, if the past 10 major releases from nV and AMD have been any indication, the new crop of cards will come at least 2-3 months later than the "rumors" are saying. I'm guessing we won't see either Polaris or Pascal until late Q3.

Oh, we'll know once new Titan is out. Then we know what kind of performance to expect from 1080Ti which will come after Titan customers have been milked :)

EDIT:
Screw Pascal, just ordered a second 980Ti.
That card is a beast at 4k, even when running solo. Now with 2, I can safely wait on Volta and get some REAL upgrade :)

Hopefully the Titan will be full-GPU and not neutered like the original, with 192 cores nuked.

If one of these significantly outperforms (20%+ w/ both cards OC) my two 980 Classies, I might get one. I'm looking at AMD's new CPUs (Zen) to upgrade my dual-G34 rig, which is never fully stable and tends to crash a few times a day for unknown reasons.

Titan X wasn't neutered, they learned their lesson I think.

The new Titan should decimate your cards if rumors are true. Maybe 40-50% faster than your SLI.

Think I'm going to wait for the "Ti" version next year as well. Whenever I jump into the first drop of a new series, the Ti version seems to come out a lot sooner than expected.

Same boat, but If im spending $400 i`d go for either 1070 or 1080. For me i`d still pick up a cheap GTX 970, since value would be still high

GTX 1080 is a terrible name. Going to be a lot of "what about a GTX 1080P?" jokes I would guess. :D

agreed about the terrible GTX 1080 name...Nvidia please get more creative with your GPU naming

Gtx 1080p lmao.

I doubt that will be the official name.

Yeah, the last time they started over on numeric naming conventions, they shifted from thousands (9800) to hundreds (280)

So that means the next naming system will switch to tens?

Nvidia announces the GTX 28, based on Pascal technology!

Soon to be followed by the GTX 27, GTX 26, GTX 25, GTX 28 Ti! But becomes a problem when you want to release a refresh (GTX 28.5?)

Or they could go the ultra-confusing ATI route, and just add an X to everything!

x800 XT Pascal Edition?

Titan V? The last one was Titan X, why are they going backwards? It should either be Y if X was used as a letter, or XI if it was a roman numeral. Japanese don't get it do they? :)

Does the V stand for Vandium, the next element in the periodic table after Ti (titanium)?
So does this mean they are starting off with a better card than a Ti version?
Not at all confusing.

Titan white (original Titan)
Titan Black
Titan Z
Titan X

And Titan V because it'll be the 5th Titan product. At least I assume that's how they came up with "Titan V".

Or better yet, switch to tens, and name cards after the process node.

So GTX 16.8, GTX 16.7, GTX 16.6, GTX 16.5, and GTX 16.4. For big dies just add "Ti" at the end ie GTX 16.8 Ti, GTX 16.7 Ti.

I've always just assumed that they will move to use X in lieu of 10 in this product line. There isn't a marketing cock bag on the planet that could resist naming something X80. XTREME, XCITE, GEFORCE X, BUY ONE TODAY!

lol
The Geforce line will now be renamed the Xforce line of GPUs.

You know MS started this crap when they skipped windows 9. Blame them, now everyone thinks it's fine to pull names out of a hat and to heck with series names.

XForce X80 Ti Xtreme Gaming Edition

God that's even worse than the X1900 XTX.

In this line, especially having G-Sync I don't feel the need to upgrade to get gaming experience I'm shooting for (3x 1440p at 60+ framerates). I can turn off the OC on my Titan-X sli and not notice difference. If the new cards support DSR at 3x 1440p then that may change my mind.

^^^^ THIS.

Dual 980Ti's will easily hold me until the "Ti" version of Pascal arrives sometime early to mid next year. If Pascal version 1 hits and offers more than a 2x performance boost over a 980Ti I may reconsider, but I doubt it will... expecting it to be just a 30-40% gain.

I'll most likely jump to an OLED based 4K monitor with high refresh capability shortly thereafter as well... Plenty of time to prep now by starting to stuff the piggy bank until then. Hoping a higher end CV2 Rift with double the resolution hits about then as well.

I like how you think as hoping for almost the same outcome, but also hoping that Nvidia adopts Freesync or has some hdmi compatible version of G-Sync for big screen gaming (4k and OLED of course). I also have minor worry that any near future big release games with Gameworks may have gimped performance on maxwell2 (due to some pascal specific feature or arch advantage).

I would hope not. I would imagine at the point in time where those features are being implemented by multiple developers in new titles to to the point where this would become a real concern, that the majority of us would have invested in Pascal cards anyways. It would suck for the majority of the PC gaming community that doesn't say current though.

If Titan V is not ridiculously priced (for example, if Titan V is a better $ per performance than 980ti SLI), then I would most likely not wait for 1080ti, simply because I don't think my 970 SLI will last another year, especially with a 4k screen into the mix. 2 980ti's at this stage would cost about the same as a Titan X cost here (for some reason, Galax 980ti OC is the same price as a typical 980, let alone 980ti), so if Titan V proves to be comparable to 980ti SLI, I would definitely not wait for the 1080ti. Besides, after a year, Titan V would have decreased in value to about a new 1080ti regardless, so I prefer to have it early and have better specs.

I would also prefer not going SLI from this point forward, I no longer have faith in nVidia fixing non-SLI things that SLI breaks (ironically, everything SLI breaks are/were Maxwell exclusive features, like MFAA and DSR), so going 980ti SLI is neither practical nor economical IMHO.

Of course, this all comes down to how Titan V performs.

Also, I just realised (assuming it is not yet mentioned), "V" actually makes sense, as this is the 5th Titan class card nVidia has made (Titan, Titan Z, Titan Black & Titan X).

If Titan V is not ridiculously priced
