I've been looking for a good deal on Vitamix blenders for a bit and it seems their reconditioned models are the best deals right now with a free shipping code. Their reconditioned models are actually a pretty good value it seems because they come with a 5 yr warranty and can be upgraded to 8 years for $75 and you can save hundreds depending on the model you get for reconditioned over new.

Use code 06-008426 at checkout to get free standard shipping (They charge $25 for shipping so its a decent savings)

The Models

The 7500 (also known as the Pro 300) is the new model that they released last year with the shorter/wider pitcher, longer blades, and more powerful/quieter motor. Sells for $529 new.
https://secure.vitamix.com/Certified-Reconditioned-Next-Generation.aspx ($399)

The 6300 (aka Pro 500) has been around a bit longer and is the same as the older machines except it has preset modes. Vitamix is selling it for $649 new, although Costco sometimes has it for $500.

The 5200 (Pro 200) is the standard model and has been around for awhile. It is same as the 6300 except it doesn't have preset modes. Sells for about $449 new.

If you're confused about all the different Vitamix models, check out this page:

If you have an old Vitamix, they'll give you $100 for it with their trade in program:

For those of you who arent familiar, Vitamix's are the best blenders out there. My friend has one and in all honesty I find nothing compares to them when it comes to what they can do and how smooth they make smoothies and drinks. This is the blender professional chefs and restaurants use. This thing can heat up soups, make ice cream or sorbert, frozen drinks, smoothies, and green shakes (with raw veggies and fruit) and a ton of other things and are built to last over a decade.

If you haven't found anything that compares to them, you haven't looked too hard. BlendTec Designer Series FTW...

I have looked at Blendtec. They have three major cons compared to the Vitamix that become a deal breaker to me.

1.) The blender is much lighter which makes it go all over the place when its on and I have to hold it down when using it.
2.) It doesn't blend ice nearly as well as the Vitamix unless you spend another $100 on a separate jar that doesnt originally come with it.
3.) You cannot fill the Blendtec up to the lid otherwise the lid will pop off and the contents inside will fly all over the place. With the vitamix's secure lid I never have that issue.

The only thing I prefer in the Blendtec over the Vitamix is the modern touchpad, but that is just a simple aesthetic appeal.

Hmm, cant decide which one to get. I need a new blender too since I am starting to do more smoothies in the morning.

Agreed. The summer is smoothie time to replace the coffee. I know, extremes but I hope to correct that in the future. We have been using the same Vitamix for about 5 years. Thing is a beast and has never let us down.

Keep an eye at costco they have Blendec, Vitamix and the NINJA!! :D every now and then for a short period of time. I bought a Blendtec about 4 years ago, a few months ago saw it for $80 cheaper, and it came with the upgraded cup. Costco so I took it back, and after some confusion by the guy working returns, got a new one, with larger cup, and $80 back. Of course I did have the box, the book, and pretty much every piece of styrofoam used to hold it together, however the Blendtec guy said all we needed was the recipe book.

Canned tomatoes, roasted bell pepper, obliterate with blender, add cheese, salt, pepper, finish with cream

Bought both a Vitamix and BlendTec at Costco not so long ago. Went in thinking the Vitamix was superior because of how much of the industry uses it.

Cut to the chase... the Vitamix got returned back to Costco.

I have a BlendTec, I haven't found 1, 2 or 3 to be an issue. Then again mine came stock with the "Wildside" jar which has the wider base. The absolute biggest benefit to the BlendTec compared to the Vitamix's I had tried was the big square base which meant not having to stir the damn contents to get it to blend all the way, which was a problem with the Vitamix since the jar funneled inward at the bottom like most blenders.

Not sure if latest Vitamix's have changed, but that was my finding when I spent way too much time researching a year and a half ago and finally bought the BlendTec from Amazon. Its been great, use it pretty much every morning for spinach or greenleaf protein shakes.

This is the experience everyone has who actually takes the time to try both. :) No one has ever returned a BlendTec to get a Vitamix.

The newest model (7500 in the reconditioned units) did fix this issue. They also made the motor 40% quieter too.

What are the chances any of these get below $200? Similar to the Dyson vacuum refurbs you can sometimes snag?

0.0000001% chance. Seriously though Vitamix's aren't known to get heavily discounted as I believe they don't have a lot of markup for profit margins to begin with.

These are the best prices for a Vitamix around and you can snag the 5200 model for less than $350 with the free shipping code in the OP.

You get what you pay for and these are built to last decades.

Except for they were refurbished, so they didnt' last decades. :p

I am currently on my 3rd different Tempur-Pedic mattress under the 100 day guarantee from Mattress Firm. I used to be of the same school of thought; buy expensive, get lots of years out of it.

My sleep has been no better than my 8 year old Sealy.

I'd almost rather buy 6 refurbished Cuisinarts for 40 a piece before dropping the 300+.

Normally I would agree, but these are "reconditioned" not "refurbished"

It states on their website that reconditioned units are units that people bought new and returned them for any reason during their money-back guarantee. It does not mean that they are defective. These units were used less than 30 days and sometimes not even once and are new.

The only part that is reconditioned is the motor unit itself and you receive a brand new blender container, accessories, and recipe book.If you look on the back of the Vitamix unit you can see when the date of manufacture is and it is usually less than 3 months ago.

The reconditioned units come with a 5 year warranty and they even pay for your return shipping if you ever have an issue.

I have had mine for several months now and have not had a single issue. I also know two other people who purchased reconditioned units when I did and have not had a single issue with theirs too.

This was probably one of the best investments Ive made into my health. It really does change your lifestyle around if you fully utilize what it offers.

For a slightly used motor and everything else all new and a $300+ discount? I'll take it in a heart beat

A friend of mine ordered a 7500 and they became backordered so Vitamix ended up shipping him a brand new one instead for the price of a reconditioned. If any of you ordered a reconditioned Vitamix and it's taking awhile I suggest calling them to see if it is backordered and if so, ask them about shipping a new one to you.

My wife bought both the blendtec and the vitamix from Costco, and ended up sticking with the Vitamix. I think they were all about the same price ~$500, so I am not sure what was the deciding factor for her. All I know is she makes me some pretty good shakes outta the Vitamix now every so often... also used it once to make cocktails at a party and it was quite the hit.

I'm sure the Blendtec could do the same, so again.. at this price range, I think most folks would be happy with either. One thing I did do though was calculate the price per HP of the Vitamix.. lol. It costs more than the equivalent HP in my car!!!!

I have a vitamix. I make my daughter baby food here. Whatever we cook I be lend it and feed her. My wife makes her green juice on it too! Its better than a juicer because you drink the pulp. I make smoothies and sorbet for the kids . I add veggies in the smoothies and sorbet so I don't feel as bad when my kids don't east their veggies. I sneek veggies in there! I grind my coffee beans in it. I make some pasta sauces for pastas on it too.

Any opinion on the 6300 vs the 7500 model? I see the 7500 has longer blades, wonder if they wear out quicker since they appear to be thinner at the end from the pics.

I would go for the 7500 if you're deciding between the two as it has a redesigned container and is much quieter when blending. I'd rather have those options than presets.

These refurbished blenders cost 3 times as much as my new IPS monitor.

I need to get a better paying job.

I've used a blender maybe twice in my life so I doubt that's the case for me.

I'll stick with my Blender mixing bottle. That metal ball has never let me down.

I never used a blender myself until I realized just how much you can do with this blender and make my green smoothies everyday in the morning. Its more of a lifestyle decision change that can have a positive impact on your health.

If you don't like smoothies and you don't cook from scratch that usually requires blending of items then its not for you. Its worth the investment in the sense that it makes eating healthy (not just eating everything out of a processed box) easier.

I don't like eating fruits and vegetables as often as you're supposed to, but smoothies taste great and you cant make those easily with a metal ball mixing bottle.

1 cup Naked Juice (from the 2 quart containers) + Herbalife Protein Powder = Morning kickstart that holds you over until lunch.

I'd love to see a YouTube video of someone trying to make a smoothie with a blender bottle. They work great for protein shakes but on fruit... not so much.

My gf makes me smoothies in the morning with our $35 blender, they are good. What will an extra $265 do for me?

I never go to Robek's/Jamba Juice since I can make the same stuff at home but better! My freezer is usually stocked w/ sherbet and frozen fruits especially during the summertime.

Same. My first job was 3 months at Jamba Juice. So I know most of their recipes. The rest I can think up from the ingredients or just watching.

A few hints - buy FRESH fruit, it's often cheaper than it is to buy the frozen stuff. You can freeze it yourself with ziplocks. Same goes for Chicken.

If you've been to Fry's cafe, they have an awesome smoothie called "Blue Hawaiian". I made a recipe that tastes pretty close to it.

- .5 Cup Blueberries
- 1-2 Bananas (depends)
- Std. Shot glass of coconut water
- .5 to 1 Cup of Pineapple Juice
- 1 Scoop of Vanilla Fat Free or Slow Churned Ice Cream
- Ice

Protein powder if I'm working out.
