Is anyone else experience some kind of mouse or input lag in the game? It doesn't seem like the hand to screen movement ratio is 1:1 or something. It might just be plain old lag but I don't think so because it isn't impacted by settings.

Any remedies for this? It is a real problem for me.

I've seen little to none personally. Which is surprising because most ports seem to be awful.

I noticed it too. Its pretty nasty IMO. Tolerable, but nasty. The UI has some weird acceleration, and mouse movements that arent fast enough dont even register.

For me it's just in the menu... the mouse is slloooowww in the menu. In the game, your view pans before your gun slightly, which might make it look like lag. Same as in Doom3... it's not actually lag though, just a perceptual thing.

Do you guys have vsync enabled? Vsync often times is the culprit for mouse lag.

Set game to DX9 mode
Disable vsync in game and in CP
Set shadows to low/medium
Set mouse sensitivity to max
Disable smooth mouse

The biggest improvement was to use DX9, now the mouse movement is smooth and non laggy. A restart of the game is required however

Yes I wonder why DX 10 games need to be so laggy even when you run at 60 frames per seconds :(.

I turned mouse sensitivity all the way up to the right and I'm happy with how it responds now.

Mouse lag is not so much the problem, the problem is mouse acceleration, which is horrible.

Setting your mouse dpi low and in-game mouse sensitivity very high removes the mouse lag, but the acceleration is still there, giving you this sluggish feeling and making you struggle with the mouse.

(Particularly if you are used to playing hundreds of hours of fps games with precise, linear mouse control, this is bad)

I think dochmbi is right.

I've experienced it too, especially in the menu. Luckily my mouse lets you change the dpi on the fly so I can lower it all the way down after starting up the game. Like Blackstone said, the mouse movement doesn't feel 1:1 the way it should.

I don't find it overly noticeable in game once I have the dpi down though.

I feel it the most in the menus, but it's particularly bad when my frame would drop below 30 fps.DX10.

I'm glad Im not the only one with this problem :( They need a little patch for this quick like!

I was getting bad mouse lag when playing at 1900x1200, but it completely disappeared after I switched to 2560x1600. Try playing at your monitor's native res.

I've got soma BAD lag too and it's pissing me off. I noticed it right away. So, what am I goingto lose going DX9? The game runs and looks great on DX10... I don't wanna give that up..

It's heavily noticeable in the menus and slightly noticeable in the game. My framerate never dips below 30 so it's only a minor annoyance to me.

I did the following and it's MUCH smoother on my 4870X2:

Vsync ON
Mouse Smoothing ON
*** In the CCC make sure the AA is set to Application Specified AND box. I had it on Edge Detect (still with Application Specified) and got "lag". With the AA set to box it was MUCH smoother.

The controls are terrible in general- I have the 360 version and I have "controller lag" LOL

I definitely feel the mouse lag; it's almost as though vsync is forced on. It just doesn't feel right, and I've contacted their tech support about it (they haven't even received a copy of the game to test yet).

Go into your "My Games/Far Cry 2/GamerProfile.xml" file and make sure that all 3 of these values are set to 0. This will 100% eliminate the acceleration and lag.

UseMouseSmooth="0" Smoothness="0" Smoothness_Ironsight="0"

going to try this right now...

edit: nope that didn't work. the best fix i've found thus far is dropping down to DX9 and reducing shadows to Low. this was suggested in another thread by someone else and it does in fact eliminate mouse lag, but i would much prefer to run in DX10. hopefully a more solid solution will arise.

changing the gfx_maxfps setting eliminates the mouse lag, but will limit you to a lower framerate.

essentially that setting caps your framerate at a certain level, but as a temporary workaround has been a great solutution. I set mine to 30, and now experience no lag, though now I am obviously (and annoyingly) capped at 30fps.

I believe the reason people find that lag disappearing when they drop AA or DX settings is because they're simply relieving the stress on their systems and bringing their framerate closer to the default gfx_maxfps setting of 60.

Again, this is just a workaround; it does work, but it isn't the ideal solution. It does make the game playable.

I just reverted to Dx9, launchign it from steam forces it in dx9 for some reason, and i didnt even notice it when i did that. The differences at the higher gfx settings are minor during game play i find. Still i'd like this mouse thing fixed.

Bad mouse lag here too, setting "UseMouseSmooth="0" Smoothness="0" Smoothness_Ironsight="0"" did help but didn't remove it.
The only way i could get the lag to go away was to play in a stupidly low resolution in dx9 and no AA (1024*768). GJ Ubisoft.

I guess i'll be waiting for a patch.

So... erm... yeah... i guess the Cryengine wasnt good enough for them. I dont get any of that nonsense + the bad fov with CryEngine based games. Oh well... wait and see i guess

Definitely notice the mouse lag it is so terribly sluggish like im playing with a console.
Trying to put it aside until a workaround is found or a patch.

I'm not going to play this game with a mouse like this. Why is it so hard to do a regular 1:1 linear mouse control scheme which has been used in fps games for 12 years? Didn't they have any fps game enthusiasts on the dev team? I don't think it's physically possible to not notice the difference between a linear mouse and a accelerated mouse if you have played fps games for many many years.

Its the fact that the gamepad sucks so horribly for fps games and well obviously they felt it was more important to spend all time on that rather then developing proper controls for the PC.

btw I don´t have that gfxmax setting in my .xml file?

You can change it in-game (though you need to change it each time you start, I haven't looked for it in the cfg files yet). Hit the ~ and type gfx_maxfps 30 (or whatever your min to average framerate is). That has eliminated the lag for me, though it can creep slightly back in if the framerate dips significantly below 30 fps. I am now able to play and enjoy the title, at the least.

Like I said before- the aiming is f'd up on the console too- it's NOT because FC2 was prioritized as a console game. The whole control scheme stinks IMHO whether it be console or PC.

I will say if the controls are done correctly (like COD4) it doesn't matter as much if it is a KB/M or controller. It takes some getting used to but I have seen some players using a Xbox controller that could really challange a kb/m player in COD4.

Running the game maxed out 1920-res 2xAA dx10 on a new gtx260-216 - i haven't tested the fps yet, but it looks like an average of about 40fps.

When i first started the game up i was on nvidia drivers 178-something, and in the intro jeep-ride i noticed some really horrible mouse lag. I exited the game and updated to the 180.42 beta driver - seems to have improved quite a bit. i noticed some very slight mouse-lag in that intro sequence, but after that, once i was in free-look, i haven't noticed it at all. The menu seems to be working just fine now as well - i think it may lag a little after you adjust video settings, but restarting the game will smooth it back out in the menu. - hope this helps.

dry dropping to DX9 and reducing Shadows to LOW (all other settings can be at your discretion). this made the game MUCH more playable for me.

Agreed. Mouse acceleration needs to die in a fire.

I'm running DX10 @ 1680 x 1050 with everything on highest settings aside from shadows which are just at 'high', and texture settings to the 2nd highest level, 2 x AA and vsynch on. This is with an E7200 @ 3.8 and a 4850.

What helped enormously was removing all the Tablet applications in add/remove programs, there's a link on the left for Windows components, it's in there. Uncheck the Tablet stuff, let it do its thing and then reboot.

It's basically removing input device shit that most of us don't need, which seemed to help a lot with the mouse lag. Don't just stop the service, uninstall all the components that allow it to run.

Worked wonders for me.

How do we uninstall it? What do we look for in add/remove programs???
