Everyone who owns a Dell 2005fpw monitor please list you Rev. # and Manufacturer Date. Also list all the problems you are having.. (backlight, dead pixels, lines. etc..)

Mine is Rev. A00, MFG date : October 2004.

I don't have any dead pixels but I have slight backlight bleeding. I'm currently debating whether to exchange it or not.

November 2004. Mexico. Rev A00

One dead pixel in the middle, no biggie.

Some backlight from corners. Still trying to determind how bad it is. bout to plug in a DVD.

I'm in the same boat at you Ron21...

Rev. A00
MFG date: October 2004

Zero dead pixels. Very minor backlight bleeding that is only noticable when watching DVD's for which I use my HT.

I might wait a week before sending this one in. Maybe they will have a new version (A01?)

i have the same date and rev as u .. but mine is perfect .. no dead pixels .. etc .. im gonna try and play a dvd in a bit to check for the back lighting issue .. but so far i havent seen anything

Same, A00, Nov 04. VERY TINY amount of backlight in upper left corner, hardly noticable even with a movie. No dead pixels. It's a work of beauty! :D

#1 November 2004 A00 Mexico

5 dead pixels and massive backlight bleeding.

#2 November 2004 A00 Mexico

4 dead pixels and minimal backlight bleeding.

Both are being returned for a full refund. I will not buy from Dell again.

You don't have to pay for shipping to send them back correct?

guys...dead pixels are are always gonna be a problem with lcds.....i remember when i ordered my hyundai, 3 different ones, each one with dead pixels...just go to best buy or something, have a walk, about 20-30% will have dead pixels.

my rev is A00 Nov04, no dead pixels, slight backlight leakage, depending on the day...

Rev. A00, November 2004 MFG date.

No backlight bleeding at all on a completely black screen, and one stuck-on green subpixel that can only be seen on a black background (functions normally if colored) toward the bottom-left corner of the monitor. I'm very happy with it.

EDIT 12/8/2004: Mine also had the VGA cable attached to it when it came in, but as I said, mine is essentially perfect :).

1st monitor: 3 dead pixels, extreme light leakage on all 4 corners
2nd replacement: >7 dead pixels, extreme leakage on left side corner and minor on right side corner.

both are revA00, mexico, nov 2004

Waiting for 3rd monitor....

rev a00 nov 04. moderate backlight bleeding, 1 dead pixel, new one on the way....

Rev A00 Mexico Novermber, no dead pixels, only very slight bleeding if sitting closer than 2 feet otherwise no. :)

update:

got a second monitor, NO DEAD PIXELS, VERY LITTLE (close to considered none) LIGHT LEAKAGE...

A00, nov04 made in mex.

This is incredible...i am so surprised that i could hardly see the leakage, and no dead pixels to boot! guess my first one is going back and get returned.

AND LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR, JUST BECAUSE THE ANALOG CABLE IS ATTACHED TO THE MONITOR DOESNOT MEAN ANYTHING (not a returned), because mine is as close to perfect as it's probably to get to and the cable came attached, unliked the first one that suffered leakage and had no attached cable.

man, i am so happy...

#1 Rev A00 November Mexico
red line down left side medium backlight leak

# 2 Rev A00 November Mexico
1 dead pixel extreme backlight leakeage

Both of them going back , cust supp convince me on a replacement with no defects. If it has any I will get a refund.

mine also had the analog cable on the monitor .. didnt even think of anything .. either way no problems

Ditto.

No dead pixels that I can see. Small amount of backlighting. The only time I notice it is on bootup, when I have a black screen for a few seconds.

Rev A00 Nov 2004 made in Mexico. Mine had the Analog cable on it as well, maybe they actually tested these. Anyway, I have one stuck pixel and very very minimal leakage. Overall I'm happy.

1st monitor: November 2004. Mexico. Rev A0
severe back light leakage, 1 dead pixel.

2nd monitor: November 2004. Mexico. Rev A0
perfect

same experience, second monitor MUCH better qualitiy...looks like the bad batch story was really true.

November 2004
Rev. A00
Made in Mexico

no dead pixels, very slight backlight leakage on bottom left, and analog cable attached as well

A00 October, 2004 Made in Mexico.

Not one dead/stuck pixel and no backlight issues. It's perfect! I also setup another machine today (Dimension 4700C) with a flawless 2005FPW. I didn't check the revision/date/etc on that one though.

Both had analog cables attached.

Two of the monitors I received are rev. A00, manufactured November, and from Mexico. Both have anolog cables attached. The first one has 6 dead pixels (started with 1), and has bad backlight leakage. The second one has much worse backlight leakage and and 1 dead pixel.

Nov 04 A00 Made in Mexico. Exactly zero bad pixels, minimal backlight leakage. MUCH nicer than my Viewsonic A90 f+.

Nov 04 A00 Made in Mexico

- Absolutely no dead or stuck pixels... hope it stays this way (just got the LCD a couple of hours ago)
- Very minimal backlight leakage (bottom left hand corner)
- Analog cable came attached to the LCD in the box

---> Ordered in Canada, for those Canadians curious about the LCDs here.

A00
October 2004
Mexico

No bleeding on DVI and SVideo
No Dead Pixels

USB HUB malfunctions sometimes

Man, I'll never understand how a company can sell a product like that... I guess 'cos most ppl don't know/care. Unfortunately for them, that isn't the case for ppl reading [H] :D

i really hope dell fixes this problem, and quickly...what they are probably going to do is "get rid" of their bad batch by sending them out to people...sad truth.

backlight leakage is understandable, but not in this case...where EVERY model pretty much has it.

1st Rev. A00 - Nov 04 Mexico
2nd Rev. A00 - Nov 04 Mexico

1st Monor
Backlight Issues upper right/left 1 stuck green near center 5 dead pixels.

2nd Monitor
Just got it moments ago. Called Friday in the afternoon recieved early Sat. 3 Stuck Green 2 Stuck Red. 3 dead. Monitor has only been on 30 min. Took my other one a full day of use before the backlight issues happened.

Last one I never really noticed the dead pixels but the green was noticible when I was using my text editor etc.. (black background). New one is even worse. I never knew how annoying they could be. It appears I will be calling for #3 soon. If the problem persist I dont think I will shop dell again.

rev a01
made in china

minimal backlight, but only noticable during bootup. No noticable dead pixels.

lovin this monitor.

Just bought a 2005fpw in the uk revision 02 made in uk august 05
Has got 3 dead pixels and slight back light in bottom left still a great monitor
