4.8ghz with 1.25 vcore? Sweet! If that's prime stable I would call it a day. :D

Then why don't you head over to the AMD boards so you can discuss "valid criticisms". You got no skin in the game so stop thread crapping. You wanna talk the finer points of fluxless solder take it to another thread.

I am really starting to think you are a troll. All your posts in here are just whining and ranting about the use of TIM. Which honestly hasn't been proven if it makes a difference either way. No one is debating with you that solder is not superior, its just that it really isn't as big of a deal...

Man homie Intel really got you worked up over the TIM, huh? I see you are posting the same rant over at overclock.net. Honestly those articles don't show any "ballz", she is just parroting everything that people have been saying for days on forums. She also seems to really be in the know as...

Ivy Bridge had to be made and it's brought good things but....

Mine shows up tomorrow I'll let you know how it clocks, but what I have seen is most are able to get 4.5ghz without breaking a sweat.

Ivy Bridge had to be made and it's brought good things but....

Sales numbers will ultimately be the judge if they should have released IB for the desktop market, not overclockers.

Post your New Ivy Bridge Processor Thermals, Type of Cooling, and First Impressions:

Sounds like you got a bum chip or you are doing something wrong with your overclock. You are the first person I have seen that is stuck at 4.2ghz. If more chips are like yours, then ivy bridge is going to be larger disappointment in the overclocking department. From all the forums I visit it...

Ramon this will fall on deaf ears. :D I can't even tell you how many times this has been pointed out in other threads. Apparently the Tick >> Tock product cycle is too complex to understand. We are still going to get the entitlement crowd in here going "WTFOMFGBBQ!!! I can't overclock to...

Out of curiosity what voltage are you supplying to the CPU? I am going to be putting together a similar build this week. Aiming for 4.5 on 1.2v.

    IB Availability...

Doubtful. If you have a Microcenter next to you that might be the best bet. Rumored to be $289. Think online retailers are going to be around $340-350 for awhile.

    IB Availability...

 Links works for me. Already placed my order and got the confirmation e-mail. Dunno what to tell you dude. They are available.

    Extremely Disappointed with Ivy-Bridge

People getting butt hurt and fired up over this TIM vs. Solder need to step away from the computer and get some fresh air. It's not that big of a deal people, it's really not. I also love the people with AMD chips are in here voicing their disappointment with Intel. Seriously?
  14. S

    Extremely Disappointed with Ivy-Bridge

Thanks for the link hadn't seen that yet. So basically confirms what Intel was saying. Now everyone bitching about the TIM can now kindly STFU. :D

Ivy Bridge in stores already for the Canadians?

Grats dude. You're going to have fun with that. Have my Z77 Sabertooth collecting dust too. :D

Speaking of consumer disappointment and marketing hype how's that FX-8120 working out for you? :p

I can't decide if I want an Ivy Bridge or Sandy Bridge

/facepalm Have you read any tech articles on Ivy Bridge? It's not just a simple die shrink.

I can't decide if I want an Ivy Bridge or Sandy Bridge

I suggest you read this. It was already posted in another thread. http://techreport.com/discussions.x/22859 Straight from Intel: "However, Intel claims the combination of the new interface material and Ivy's higher thermal density is responsible for the higher temperatures users are...

    Extremely Disappointed with Ivy-Bridge

Oh man, this is epic. Loving the nerd rage. Hate to break it to you but no one is an idiot for disagreeing with your expectations.

    Extremely Disappointed with Ivy-Bridge

LOL! You said in your first post to either agree or disagree...guess you weren't prepared for people not to agree with you.

    Extremely Disappointed with Ivy-Bridge

Apples and oranges. i7-980 was like a $600 processor, i7-920 could be had for half that.
  23. S

    Extremely Disappointed with Ivy-Bridge

Dunno what to tell you. Sounds like you had some pretty lofty expectations from a tick release. 50% less power? I can't recall any Intel processor refresh that delivered on any of those expectations. Maybe I have a bad memory.
  24. S

    Extremely Disappointed with Ivy-Bridge

Since you are "extremely" disappointed, what were you expecting Ivy Bridge to deliver on? I think the only thing it disappoints on is sensitivity to higher volts and heat at upper limits of OC'ing. I don't think Ivy Bridge was intended to be an upgrade path for people on Sandy Bridge. Shrugs.

Intel Ivy Bridge Processor IPC and Overclocking @ [H]

Mildly disappointing but exactly what we were expecting. Any word on retail availability?

Deciding Between Sandy and Ivy Bridge

Dud...huh??? Who are these "CPU minds" you speak of? lol. I never understood this mentality. Give me huge game changers and performance boosts every launch or let's stagnate technology because I want to justify my purchase? Umm no.

Ivy Bridge TDP of 95W instead of the promised 77W ...

Probably not. I am waiting for the [H] review before I pull the trigger. I already have all the other parts for my build. I just need to decided between a 2700k or 3770k. If the 3770k looks like it will overclock to 4.5-4.7ghz with moderate volts and temps then I'll go that route, since I will...

Ivy Bridge TDP of 95W instead of the promised 77W ...

I hope you're right that it's all just "wild speculation" and "dubious forum posts". lol. Everything I have read indicates that the 3570k and 3770k seem to hit a sweet spot around 4.6ghz. After that voltage and heat are not scaling well. But hey, you can't believe everything you read. I'll...
  29. S

Ivy Bridge TDP of 95W instead of the promised 77W ...

I could careless about the reasoning behind why Intel is branding IB as 95W TDP even though it is still only using a maximum of 77W. What I care about is how poorly the heat is scaling with overclocking. There are plenty of reports and leaked reviews floating out on the internet right now, not...

Ivy Bridge TDP of 95W instead of the promised 77W ...

He can speak for me. :D I want IB to overclock well without massive heat comparative to SB.

    7900 price cuts incoming

Highly Ocable two. Wrong, 680 can be OCed to 2GHz, 7970 is nowhere close to that. With upcoming voltage unclocked versions, 680 can be OCed to 1.5 GHz on air cooling. 7970 is nowhere close. Seriously? That was LN2 cooling and didn't fail just short of 2ghz. Pointless comparison.
  32. S

Ivy Bridge TDP of 95W instead of the promised 77W ...

So everyone that invested in 1155 platform needs to turn in their PC enthusiast membership cards. :D All Ivy Bridge chips might not fall into enthusiast class, but 3770K definitely does.
  33. S

Ivy Bridge TDP of 95W instead of the promised 77W ...

While I agree with you that enthusiasts make up a smaller part of the market share, isn't the 3770K marketed as an enthusiast level chip? It's not going in laptops and mainstream PC's. Right now I am not seeing what the benefit is between 2600K/2700K and the 3770K. What am I missing?
  34. S

Ivy Bridge TDP of 95W instead of the promised 77W ...

Wow! WTF on that one Intel?. Okay I am seriously confused on what the point of Ivy Bridge is now. PCI-e 3.0 and better integrated graphics...who cares? Getting seriously temped to just get the 2700k to complete my build and be done with it.
