Exactly my point. Most really good WC setup I've seen is usually done with heavy modding and customization. I don't have a workshop or welding kit to do these kind of work. I am hoping for a good off-the-shelf kit system to just buy it, install, and get good result for my system.
Perhaps I...
Back in 2003, I got interested in WC, and after much research, I've concluded that the quality was not mature enough and the price was too high for me to try WC unless I do much of custom work.
Recently, I thought I'd give another try at WC and did some research and found that there have not...
The controls are at the right side bottom of the the monitor. You cannot see it from the front view. There are 5 buttons: Menu, +, -, Set, and Power
I've spent some time on my friend's 22" monitor and while that's bigger than my old monitor (19"), 28" felt HUGE in comparison. I am sure you...
I saw the monitor was finally back in the Costco website and pulled the trigger. It arrived yesterday and boy it's frigging HUGE! It totally dwarfed my puny 19" monitor and dominated the desktop.
As many people said, I had to turn the brightness down to 10 and will run calibration software...
Wait, Are they talking about IBM as whole, or IBM IT Consulting? I used to work at Price Waterhouse Consulting, which were bought and merged into IBM Consulting about 8 years ago. I've heard nothing but bad things about my ex-coworkers since they became IBM.
Perhaps things have changed since...
It's currently my favorite keyboard. I wish they had the sale when I was buying it.
I love the feel and the flat-ness. Having a three brightness setting is awesome, too!
I never understood people lining up for hours and days in front of a store and pay huge premium for same item that you could get much cheaper a month later at most. Unless you get a HUGE saving ($1000 or more), or you get a huge bonus or limited edition of similar dollar value ($1000), I'd...
CPU: $300
RAM: $350
Motherboard: $200
Case: $300
Video Card: $300
Hard disks: $200 per drive
Monitor: $500
Mice: $100
Keyboard: $100
Some video cards are just too overpriced. I'd spend most money on a good monitor.
Looks like a simple issue for me.
Intel was doing shady business practice.. so they are now being fined $1.45 Billion. Serves them right.
AMD should just STFU and concentrate on making better chips. Now they will have no excuse for lagging behind Intel.
Lately the credibility of Wikipedia has been pretty bad. Do you seriously think, with XP support ending date keeps being pushed back over and over again, and Windows 7 release date inching closer, that anyone would consider switching to Vista? Most business will either stick with XP or take a...
You do have a point.
I am sure Vista is not the sole cause of the misery, but the overall experiences with Vista has been crap on laptops compared to Windows XP. I've NEVER had this much trouble with laptops compared to DOS, Win 3.x, Win95/8, NT, 2000, XP, Linux, Ubuntu, and OSX.
There is...
I wish I found this thread earlier.. Oh the troubles I've had with Vista.
Let's start by saying that I have been building computers and programming before most of you were born, so spare me the n00b treatment.
The time was 2007, and I was looking to buy a nice laptop for my wife.. I decide on...
If can afford it, I see very little reason not to go with Core i7. It's been very solid, stable, and even the lowest 920 overclocks easily 3.6 Ghz and beyond. DDR3 prices are coming down fast and 2nd-tier budget motherboard should be coming out soon.
That doesn't make sense... Express Gate is basically built-in Linux and some apps you can run if you don't have any OS installed. It should have no effect once the system is started with Vista. BUT I'm gonna try it anyway later today.
Right now, I have my system running 3.7Ghz stable with mid-30C's and low 80C's on 100% load. When the system goes to sleep for a while, it doesn't wake up. When I move the keyboard & mouse, the motherboard lights up and fan begins to turn, but it doesn't display anything. When I hit reset...
I've increased the CPU voltage to 1.35 and it's been running great! I've OC'd to 3.7Ghz now and been running Prime 95 for 6 hours and temperature is stable at 79-81C. It's a little warmer than I want: I prefer somewhere around 65-75C on 100% load. I should be able to get that with increasing...
OK I've increased CPU voltage to 1.35 and it's running fine now. My RAM stays at 1444Mhz with default voltage. Have been running Prime 95 for three hours yet no crash.
30~50C temperatures are nothing to sweat at! In my OC, they run 40~50C on IDLE! On 100% Load, mine was around 67 to 72C with 3.6Ghz OC. These i7s are built to burn!
You shouldn't need to worry about the CPU core temperatures until they are well-into 80s.
I also have instability issue...
I just made mine fairly tight, then gave it an extra squeeze. The HSF was still able to twist above CPU when I gave it a firm nudge. Things seem fine and temperature is under control even with OC.
I am using TRUE and got mine to 3.6Ghz last night with stock voltages... Although it crashed this morning, it was running decent with Prime 95 and Far Cry 2 while temperature was around 67-72C per cores.
I put about three grains of rice worth of AS5. I'm gonna go home tonight and try...
I've OC'd my system to 3.6Ghz (180 BCLK and 1444Mhz DRAM speed) and seemed to run fine. I ram prime 95 for about 30 min (no patience!) and ran fine overnight. This morning I ran some FarCry2 benchmarks, then came to work. Then my wife called me saying the system crashed with "Overclock...
LOL!
My brother-in-law and I are building Core i7 system for each and he went with eVGA X58, while I went for Asus P6T. We just got our system so let's see how it turns out...
Anand did a review and comparison of X58 boards recently and had both P6T and eVGA X58. At the end, P6T was...
I'm disappointed with EVGA after hearing your story... I hope you get a better experience next time, should you decide to give them more chance.
As for GTX260 216 and 192 cores, the difference is minimal in terms of benchmarks and actual game performance in most reviews.
Good luck with...
So... powering it up will fry my CPU? It's kind of pain to uninstall HSF and clean up the compound, especially if it has gone under the CPU and inbetween the pins x_X
You would THINK they would make these stuff to be non-conductive and safe in case of spillage over electronic circuit...
Hey guys...
I'm building a Core i7 system with TRUE.
My system came yesterday and in my excitement to build the shiny new system, I think I put too much thermal grease (Arctic Silver) on top of CPU. I only had time to install HSF and had to go to work, but now that I think about it I put...
My system arrived yesterday. I have the same memory with Asus P6T mobo.
Once I build it and try to OC it, I'll let you know if I find anything. I also plan to OC it to 1600Mhz with default voltage. Would be nice if you can get it resolved before then as well! :)
Apple II was my first computer back in 1983... It didn't have an option for graphic card.
Then in 1989, I've bought a spiffy new IBM AT 80286 @ 6Mhz! And I've bought it with breath-taking high tech Hercules VGA graphics card capable of 640x480 in 256 colors!!!! Everybody told me it was way...
I have been keeping track of 6GB (2GBx3) 1600 DDR3 memories since beginning of the October. It appears that sometimes Newegg hits a surge of orders that makes them run out of the DDR3 memories. Don't worry too much and give it a few days or a week. They have been refilling the DDR3...
This is indeed a great news for me, since I was waiting for a good LGA-1366 HSF!
Anyone have any idea on the included the fan noise/performance? Most reviews I've seen had U-120 without fans and had to get fans separately.
