When we were diagnosing we unplug everything so it's not even plugged into a monitor. All we are looking for is the POST beep! Nothing with drivers or anything else this has to be hardware within the case itself. I'm guessing that it's a certain chipset with a certain bios that for whatever...
yes different PCIE ports,
yes power is plugged in,
yes reset the cmos,
PSU is a 500w forget manufacturer its our test PSU that we use around the shop, it powers everything. Again put in an Nvidia card with that PSU and it works. But also we've had it happen to Kingwin PSU's, Corsair, and...
so I work at a retail store and we sell both Nvidia/ ATI cards and so far we've had a few ATI cards just not post in machines. Being either custom machines or Dells, HP's whatever. Put in an Nvidia card and they post just fine
So far it has only been the 4000 and 5000 series, never a high...
I know I'll be the enemy here, but I say good for them. I'm always impressed on how much better virus's are getting.
Also note that I work at a PC store and we charge 140 dollars to remove virus's :)
Its not hard to remove virus's, you're basically paying for bench time.
I know on my Crosshair Mobo I had to disable or change a setting on the audio. Look in your bios and see what you can do, maybe even disabling the onboard audio if you can or change the audio type to digital or something. Pretty sure it was a very easy/basic thing that I changed and then...
can't you take out the HDD and test it yourself with a USB adapter? Also he could always probably just order the MAC OS from apple themselves. Or just buy the snow leopard upgrade for 30 bucks...
Otherwise no I don't know any bootable apps that work with mac.
yes I know that, hints why I said it does support it. The other poster said it doesn't support NTFS which it in a way does as in it reads, but doesn't write.
Just nevermind, delete post.
well actually it can read it, it just can't write to it.
So ok lets say it can recognize the drive just fine, is there not a command or anything for a chkdsk in the mac os?
Hi, I have a drive plugged in USB and I was wondering if mac has a utility like chkdsk that windows has? I know under disk utility it has something, but it usually doesn't work with external drives, or maybe it's just because it's an NTFS drive?
There has to be a terminal command or...
always post:
cpu
motherboard
memory
psu
GPU
Otherwise no one can really say. I know when I bumped up my CPU to a quad core my GPU score also improved. Also I've noticed that benchmark tests aren't always the best to test how well your system is. The games you actually play is a lot...
I had this happen to me once when using Firefox it shakes when you delete the bookmarks from it (pretty rare) see if its only when you're using firefox or when doing something else.
The store I work for carried Palit cards for a few months because my manager went to a gaming event and talked to a head exec from Palit so we gave them a try. We had lots and lots of issues with them and we went right back to EVGA. Palit was terrible.
thanks for all the replies. I've been reading a lot lately.
I made this website just trying things and see how they look. There is actual content on my end of the pc that I have yet to update, but you understand the look.
www.amdownzintel.com/thepctechstop
tell me what you think...
the websites designed will be used mostly just for simple text. Just simple layouts with nothing really important on them other than a basic easy to read layout and links.
Though I personally would like to learn how shopping carts work and all that stuff. I've used photoshop before to slice...
So I've been asked by a few of my friends to make websites for them and I used to do it a lot in the past, but that was when most people used frames and things were very basic. I want to learn it all again so I'm not sure where to even start anymore.
The programs I have is iWeb(have a mac)...
when testing use just one card to try to eliminate software issues:
redo windows 7 etc, all updates + drivers blah, test see what happens
- make sure all settings are stock, no OC, no nothing
- make sure bios settings are default, reset bios if you have to.
-try an older bios as well...
You can try to update your bios as well. Version 0507 fixed an issue with end GPU's maybe that might fix your issue? That board already has 9 bios versions to it. Asus has an easy way to update the bios so shouldn't be hard.
oh I agree with Linux in general say Ubuntu it would be terrible and I can guarantee you most would fail.
That's why OS X is nice because it's built off linux or unix w/e and it's very easy to use. So less failure that way, but is the os perfect? Of course not and ya I still very much like...
90% of windows users are just dumbasses so what is your point?
Go ahead and google xp antivirus, or antivirus 2008 or 2009 I remove them every day for 100 a pop. I love windows because people are always dumb enough to install shit. At least what Linux has going for it is by default it...
lol I work at a PC store and I see PC's blue screen every day all day. Of course that's usually why they are here, we fix them... I personally haven't had a big problem on any of my machines until a few weeks ago my gaming machine blue screened due to Nvidia's graphics driver. Otherwise been...
Hi starting to make a website using iWeb I'm curious for the page size. I've been told that it's better to use percentage instead of pixels to determine the size of a website. So incase someone is using a different resolution the website doesn't look weird to them.
By default its set to...
weird, I have an iPhone it had one dead pixel I called apple to see what their replacement warranty is and they said they would replace it.
2 days later I had my new iPhone plugged it into my macbook pro and it sync'd everything again, games included and was like nothing ever changed. Then I...
yes I understand the traveling aspect and such. Main reason why I added that at the end, otherwise I know people who barely travel and have desktop gaming machines and then yet they want a gaming laptop, never made much sense to me.
But hey in the end I guess if you have money, do whatever...
guessing battery life is 15 minutes? I still don't really understand gaming laptops, I buy a laptop to be portable not to game. If you really need to game that much, you might want to get help.
Now if this is all you buy and not a desktop, then please excuse my douche bag comment.

Sorry if this or something close to it was already posted, didn't feel like going through 20 pages.
Looks like Charlie was actually right? I wouldn't doubt that most of what Charlie says has some truth to it, but yes the words he uses is...
I work at a tech store and we try to get everyone off IE because it leads to so many problems. We usually tell everyone to go with Firefox or Chrome. Personally I like chrome better now with the latest update, fixed a few issues I was having with it. Also it seems like many customers I demo...
I just heard from macrumors or appleinsider that they are coming out with new imacs very soon and I could have sworn that I heard things about a new revision about the macbook. They said this would happen within a month or so. It might be worth to either double check this or if you can wait a...
I have to admit I was really surprised when I was watching the streaming. I thought it was going to be more of we got more FPS in a game than you ATI, Muahahaha! Then show a clip of them saying F yo couch!
The technology they were showing was cool, but a little boring for my taste. I see...
looked at the numbers again, I was mainly comparing the 5870 vs. the GTX285
Yes the 5870 does better than the 285, but not by a huge margin. Once you up the settings it does pretty well against beating it. My reasoning for what I'm saying is that I believe Nvidia can up their numbers just...
doesn't look that great. Crossfire is looking pretty well, seems to scale very well with most games. Otherwise the single card itself doesn't look all that amazing. Maybe it's just because of drivers, but otherwise not that impressive. Looks like Nvidia might be winning this round. I'm...
actually there are other people with the issue if you go on newegg a few people have the exact same issue that we are having. Also its not driver based at all.
The machine once 2 monitors plugged in will NOT post. So no beep, no screen, no bios, no nothing. The machine isn't SLI so...
Alright sent gigabyte an email and I've put the GPU in another machine, this time AMD based just incase and it still does the same thing.
Obviously its the GPU so I guess we'll just stop carrying this series if we have issues with other ATI cards doing this maybe we'll just stop carrying ATI...
ok so we just had a computer checked in with this same problem again. The video card is ATI 4350 from Gigabyte.
The motherboard is Gigabyte ga-g31m-es2l
Just reinstalled windows Media Center with 1 monitor hooked up no issues. Did all windows updates + driver updates and now went to do...
So I work at a retail store and so far now 2 ati cards have done a very weird thing and my manager is thinking of dumping the cards, but was curious if anyone else has issues like this and knows of a fix.
So first of all my manager hates ATI because he runs a game center and has for many...
so it looks like the dual boot went fine. It's all installed now working just fine.
I did though run into a weird error. When installing Vista 64 it said it didn't have the necessary driver to find the drive which is weird. Found the driver, told it to use it and it said it couldn't...
There are no reasons why you shouldn't torrent Vista 64. I have it works great, and has been working great for 6 months now. Also when Windows 7 comes out I plan to do the same.
Also pirating helps global warming.
Pirating up global warming down!
no its media center SP2, but I used Nlite to fix the problem, all is well now.
The laptop actually supports 2 internal drives, has two different spots for them so both will be internal. XP is installing now and we'll see what happens!
