"to be announced" sounds like ati's new banner.
From what ive seen the GTO2 with SM3, and the other advancements the x1x00 lineup carry would have very nicely filled the gap, and yet, its an x800 level product.
oh, excuse me, so $450 (yeah I see that now that I've looked more).
It doesnt excuse the fact that the $250 is underpowered for its price, and the next card up is $400-450?
A $250 x1600XT, then the next card up is the $500 x1800XL? Am I missing something? It really wouldnt be bad if the x1600xt could hit the performance levels of the 6800gt, but its being compared to the 6800 vanilla. In all reality, the GTO2 is a better card, performance wise, even though its...
I thought I had heard Nvidia had the ability to add things like H.264 acceleration to the 7800 series with driver updates (correct me if I'm wrong, I could be going half crazy). Has this been implemented yet? I'm rather stuck in the middle with Nvidia and ATI here as whatever I get will be my...
its still 2T, but "the 2T hit" is nearly meaningless in most everything except sandra. Unless you plan on playing benchmarking software I wouldnt worry about it. Games see a 4% max hit, with most of them well below that...
Anyone know what the timeline is for the release of DX10 and the DX10 compliant cards?
I'm considering a Uli board with agp/pci-e so I can keep my current 9800 pro and wait for the DX10 compliant cards to surface.
thanks!
Man I am SO glad someone else posted this. I tried out a system at best buy and it felt like I was doing something wrong with the mouse. I got the best buy employee to plug in logitech mouse, and it felt exactly the same. Its awful. I've asked other people about it and they tell me I'm imagining...
How are the 2005 and 2405 specifically for video? A great deal of what I do at my computer is centered around video playback. DVD, xvids, mpgs, etc. I will be running these videos at or close to whatever size they are encoded in, which of course will vary, but I (obviously) wont be blowing...
Wow, having a bit of fun is really out on hardocp all of a sudden I see. Too bad.
Mod Edit - This one is heading out of control, so let me lock it for you before the stuff really starts to fly. First off, you'll get much better responses if you'd post drive controller questions in the "Disk...
Does windows XP SP2 recognize these cards? Do they do away with loading drivers for the sata drives as you install windows? Is there a downside? Will these be coming out in pci-e variety of some sort? (1x or 4x?). I'm too lazy to look when someone can just fill me in :P
thanks!
same boat. X2 all the way. 3800, or 4200 if you can afford it. Monarch has the X2 3800 listed as ava. the 12th. Supposedly they are shipping already. I cant wait to get one.
get the 3000, or a 3200, and grab a 7800gt when they hit stores mid next month, then the middle or end of next year, grab a really nice dual core when they have dropped significantly in price.
This is given if you game. If you multitask or do rendering or that kind of thing get the dual core...
I suggest google, a little google goes a lot farther than insulting people trying to help you. Its an interrupt problem hence me telling you to move cards around. Figure it out yourself, have fun. Oh, if you find this guru of beep codes, let me know, because I cant think of anyone who has the...
I dont see where the difference is? The X2's are simply better all around processors. Kyle here at hardocp has one himself. I think you are somehow viewing the amd processors as "gaming only" and that simply isnt the case. Its your money, but honestly you should pay a lot of attention to the...
A lot of what Ive seen says there are performance hits in a lot of multi threaded apps which are using dual cores with HT. You might want to look around a bit more. The X2 is far from being just for gaming, so put that out of your mind.
if you can afford the amd dual cores why not? they beat the intel variants in pretty much every category for dual core usage, they are simply better processors. The only people who should honestly be looking to intel for dual core currently are people who want the very low end duals, like...

This board supposedly supports the Pentium D, according to another well known news site (which I wont list here because I'm sure I'd get crapped on). I cannot find this board at retail sites yet, I'm assuming it simply hasnt...
is this even a real question? If you can get the dual, DO IT. I cannot possibly believe anyone would NOT want the dual core. To the person talking about "maybe they will have a dual FX" or some such, do you even know that there isnt any difference between the 2 meg duals (1 per core) and the FX...
