All,
I'm wondering if anything along the lines of a firewire router exists? I have one external HDD (connected via firewire 400) that I would like to connect to 8 different PC's. I don't have any other options but to use firewire. I know this would be solved with using a NAS or a shared...
Hey all... I have a question for you about copying an external HDD to another external HDD.
I've got several of these drive:

I have one drive split up into 15 partitions with a bunch of data on each partition. I need to copy the...
I don't necessarily need a monitor in the budget.
I just want a case that's easy to get into. I'd like something that's sturdy and isn't gonna fall apart on me. I have an Antec P190 now and I can't stand it. The sides are cheap plastic. It's a pain to open and close the case because the...
So I think my current rig (3.5 years old, Athlon X2 4400, 2GB ram, 74gb Raptor boot drive, 500 GB storage drive, GeForce 7900GTX) may have bitten the bullet so I'm looking at building a new rig. There are many of you out there that know wayyyy more than I do so I'm looking for your input.

Yep.... everything with CHKDSK checks out just fine.
I could understand if it was one drive but both drives are doing it equally. Could it have been a bad format or what? I mean I'm thinking of wiping everything out again and starting from scratch again but i'd rather not do that if I don't...
All,
I just formatted both my hard drives this past weekend (WD Raptor 74gb and a WD4000YR drive) and reinstalled WinXP, all my drivers, and all windows updates. Since I've reformatted, I've noticed a lot of problems when downloading files from the internet. 99% of the time, the files wind...
All,
I currently have a computer work related problem and I don't know if there's a solution. I figured this would be the best place to come for a possible answer.
Where I work, we use Xkeys to fire off macros to execute various functions in several different computer programs. There are...
I think as long as you have the hardware that can handle it, I don't see a problem with overclocking. I just built my system last week (A8N32-SLI, X2 4400, 2gb Mushkin PC4000, 7900GTX, Scythe Ninja) with the sole purpose of overclocking (I've never overclocked my rig before). I spent a little...
For all the bitching and complaining I did, I guess I got pretty lucky. Ordered my PNY 7900GTX Thursday morning, shipped Friday night, picked it up from the local FedEx facility Monday afternoon (didn't want to wait until Tuesday to have them deliver it). It's in and so far, I guess it's fine...
Well... Monarch finally did ship my 7900GTX Friday night... now I'll hopefully have it on Tuesday. I have my system all together (X2 4400, 2gb pc4000 memory, 74gb raptor, 400gb WD Drive, 16x burner). Lucky for me, the only PCI video card I had lying around is an S3 Vision864. It's awesome...
I am quite annoyed actually. I'm basically screwed until Monday when they have business hours again and can ship the card out (I hope). I mean honestly, how long does it take to take a box, put it in another box with peanuts, seal it up, slap my address on it, and send it on its way? I really...

Monarch is kinda yanking me around about mine. I ordered yesterday morning (10am EST) and their people didn't verify my card until this morning around 8am. Then I called them this afternoon around 12:30 and talked to one of their "lovely" representatives who pretty much told me...
I don't think it's the same item...
Model # on NewEgg is VCG7900XXWB
Model # on PNY's site is VCG7900XXPB
NewEgg doesn't have the clock/mem speed on the PNY card there.
I was just browsing PNY's website and their version of the OC'd 7900GTX (675/1.64) is $525 plus shipping (wasn't able to figure out how much shipping is). Everyone else I see is charging $600+ for a similarly clocked card. I'm pondering picking one up for my new system.
That's what I thought but from what I read, it seemed like you needed 26A per 12v rail. I don't see how this could be the case since no PSU i've seen does more than 20A or 21A per rail.
All,
I'm looking to order one XFX PVT70FUND7 Geforce 7800GTX (factory overclocked to 490/1300) to start my system out with. I read that in order to get the card to work properly, you need a PSU rated for 12v@26A. I have a 550watt Neo HE that's rated for 12v@18A. I've looked all over the...
I'm in the process of building a system with a 550 watt Neo HE. I've read of all the problems the A8N-SLI's and the Neo HE's have been having. Luckily, I got an A8N32-SLI. I'll let you know how it is in a week when all the parts finally arrive.
ok, i went and got the Mushkin eXtreem pc4000 (2gb) memory along with a bunch of other stuff from newegg. i'm still holding out of the video card. i'm hoping when the 7900gtx comes out, the 7800gtx prices will drop a little bit.
I was thinking about the DDR500 sticks. I'm just worried about getting a crappy overclockable x2 4400 and being stuck with DDR500 memory that can't do 2-3-2-5-1 or 2-2-2-5-1 timings at DDR400. Am I worrying too much about the DDR400 timing?
Hey all, anyone know where I can find any more reviews of this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220082
anyone have personal experience with it? If so, good? Bad? Lemme know. I'm thinking about ordering it for my new system (X2 4400, Asus a8n32-sli deluxe mobo)...
I don't want to start a new thread for my question but it seems as if this thread kind of applies. I'm buying an Antec P180 case. Will the Ninja fit in my case? The case is 8in wide and the Ninja is about 6in tall. That gives me 2in of room. I just don't know how much room the mobo/mobo...
I guess the 74gb raptor will hold enough. I'm gonna use the raptor for my OS, games, and DVD ripping/burning. I'm gonna use the other drive(s) basically as a storage dump and for general backup purposes.
All,
I'm about to build a new system and I'm going nuts trying to find a perfect case. I don't care if it's a Mid/Full Tower (though I'm leaning towards a Full Tower). I'm trying to find a case that'll fit at least 2 120mm fans (1 in the front to cool the hard drives/suck air in), 1 in the...
dirtydr, the raid 5 thing doesn't sound too bad. i agree with you and i'm uneasy about 4 drives... too much room for failure. so what do you suggest... 3 300gb drives? as i said, the terabyte thing was a goal but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen with my budget. i'm guessing i could do...
I'm looking for something that'll be faster than your regular, out of the box, hard drive. If I had the money, I'd buy as many Raptors as I could afford and cram them into my system. Unfortunately, this is not possible. Instead, I'm looking at two, or three, or four drives working together to...
I'm looking for a balance between speed and storage. Raptors = fast but not enough storage. Remember, I'm looking for close to 1TB, relatively fast, all for under $400.
All,
Before people shoot me out of the water, I have been to StorageReview.com and I have read the Hard Drive buying guide listed in this forum. I'm just looking for peoples honest input. I just found out I'm getting a fat tax refund so I'm looking to build myself a completely new PC. My...
