Interesting answers for [H]ardforum... (which is exactly why I love it)
It is a very strange thing, you cant imagine using anything other than quickest and most accurate control system for decades, and yet you somehow feel you're outgrowing it. I totally understand younger pc gamers who can't...
Yeah, just like putting a phone in front of your face at certain distance is the same thing as going to cinema, right? Filling your FOV the same way and all that...
If it's THE SAME, why have a bigger screen in the first place?
50" for DESKTOP gaming sounds horrific. People have forgotten everything about ergonomy and health over time and keep calling TVs - monitors. "Look at my new monitor!" (it's famous 48" TV). Our eyes and brain haven't changed over past decade, what was too big back in 2000s is too big today...
Chief Blur Buster
I really wish we could have some of that greatness on consoles, too.
60 to 120 fps on consoles would be good enough for most people. Any chance of that happening (fsr 3, ps5 pro or whatever)?
What's realistic in near future and on next Gen in that space?
Even if half of that could be achieved in next few years, or even quarter of it on consoles it would be the best thing ever. Do you think the industry as a whole will go that way (pc and consoles to an extent)? I'm talking about frame generation in general, not necessarily in context of blur...
With that AI frame generation we're starting to get, even 1000 fps doesn't sound that impossible anymore... They'll have to improve the tech for sure, but since doing it natively is truely impossible for modern games at any moment, I guess that would be the way.
Why can't every monitor that is this expensive have some noob friendly mode like apple displays have? Everything is set up perfectly by default and you can only adjust brightness( backlight). We are talking about professional calibrators and expensive equipment and all that is a solution for...
How is 42" (not to mention 48 ") suddenly perfect for desktop use is beyond me... What happened to years of experience and research about ergonomics, human vision, angles etc?
Even 32" can be too big for desktop use.. People just accepted this as a trend and continue repeating that they can't...
So you guys mostly sound like you're very satisfied with the state of pc gaming and are totally ok with this situation. I guess I expected something different on hardforum.
If people are accepting it here, I guess I have no further questions.
Maybe I just miss 90s/early 2000s pc gaming too much.
Come on man, of course I didn't mean there are literally no pc focused games, of course there are a ton of them. But those games are not of that type we're talikng about here, something that made you fall in love with pc gaming back in the day. Pushing technology etc. Who would get excited about...
I think 2005. was the year when it all went downhill for pc centric game development. We have better resolutions and frame rate, but true big pc titles like Half-life once was (for example) are not happening anymore.
We used to get Doom 3, Far Cry and Half-life 2 in the same year. We used to...
Dark theme still looks non-professionally designed to me, like a cheap theme from a decade ago. I can't believe it. Some segments of the system are improved design wise, but there are way too many unacceptable decisions imo.
Thanks for the replies guys.
It feels surreal that after all those years we still use something so simple and yet so powerful.
WASD + mouse really opened the door for new gaming experiences.
Marathon (Mac) was the first game to use freelook, Terminator: Future Shock was the first on PC.
But I clearly remember doom, duke nukem and other early fps days, everybody used keyboard controls. Page up/page down for looking up/down, wow. Even if mouse was there as an option, we didn't use...
I'm trying to find out what was logitech using in these drivers:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7M_mpgx6DaHYVNpVFI5cXNFREU
It's mouseware 9.79, works in windows xp and windows 7 32-bit if you run setup in compatibility mode (works fully).
It supports many older logitech mice.
When those...
Knowing which laptops have those screens would be nice for a start :).
IPS/PLS panel guarantees certain level of picture quality, so don't have to care THAT MUCH. But details would be great too, of course...
I need a list if there is one. That information is harder to find that you might think. I really need some help.
I'm interested in 13", 14" and 15" sizes. I don't care about specs (internet and basic use only), so I need an ordinary laptop with a nice screen :).
Thanx a lot.
I feel exactly the same and I'm really glad you wrote it. I play with acceleration since 98 - i didn't have a clue back then, just started playing that way and continued with acceleration from logitech's mouseware drivers on "low" setting.
Time has passed and it really became a second nature...
It all makes sense. I guess there's a lot of inertia in all of this, as I'm too old to easily change habbits like this :). Gaming was always a pleasure for me, not a stress, so I guess I'm a strange mixture of utter noob, ultra high end and one in the middle :D.
I don't have problem with...
I was trying to avoid this kind of debate, but as you actually know what you are talking about, it might be useful, so thanx.
Of course I would eventually get used to playing without acceleration. Here are a few reasons why I've been choosing not to:
Without acceleration I can't have...
I'd like to know if there are any mice on the market with advanced acceleration settings in their software.
I know that 99% of people hate mouse acceleration, so I'd like to skip that part, please. I hope that people who play with acceleration will help.
Which mouse do you use? Any...
When you sum it all up, it's impossible to turn off cleartype in windows 7 without making everything look like crap. Fonts are designed for cleartype exclusively etc. WPF also makes problems.
There's no way.
I'm asking this because i have problem with cleartype on my current ~100ppi monitor. I just can't get used to it after a decade without it. I'm so used to pin-sharp fonts and when i see cleartype on "low" ppi displays, i get really bad headaches.
On the other side, i've seen some higer ppi...
I'm late, but thanx for the answers, guys...
I have one more question to bump this:
Still have both services and one thing is not clear...
When i check pings, they are always marginaly lower on cable (recommend me some good ways to check everything about conenctions btw, i know only for...
