It wasnt the timings....
I RMA'ed my motherboard a week ago, got it back and the problem still persists.
Even tried setting the timing down from 1600mhz to 1333mhz for 12 gigs. Didnt work, went back down to 8 gigs this morning.
Now Im going to try 6 gigs at 1600mhz, it should work, if not Im...
Yea I think the best thing for the performance of the card would be to RMA, although raising the clock values has fixed the issue there shouldn't be such an issue in the first place. Overclocking the 2d settings could as well cause problems in the future and as well degrading performance. RMA time.
System Specs:
i7 920 @ 2.66
P6X58D motherboard
G-Skill F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ (x6 2gig sticks, Triple Channel)
HIS ATI 5970 Graphics Card
I have been having an artifact issue with my graphics card. When I first installed the card I didnt use the disc, I installed the latest drivers online...
DUH! Forgot to manually set the ram timings.......... got all the help I needed from the asus support website. Set the volts and timings, it should be good to go now.
Well.....woke up this morning to try and check....was hopeful it was gonna say 12GB.....NOPE.
Went back down to 6GB, must be a faulty motherboard, RMA time :(
Reseated the motherboard, CPU, and as well used the stock i7 fan instead of the bulky super cooler one. Also reseated the ram again. I physically removed the motherboard from the pc and put it back in.
So far so good, says 12GB of memory. Bios did a cool little memtest saying the memory was...
Well I've tried losening the CPU heatsink, Upping the memory voltage as well......Started the comp up today it went back down to 6GB......shutdown the system....wiggled the memory and now it says its back up to 12GB.
Im worried about gaming because it probably wont utilize all the memory...
Changing the voltage didn't help, it went back down from 12GB to 10GB. It will probably go back down to 8GB again after restart......Any suggestions of how to fix this annoying issue? And since this is happening I doubt my system is even utilizing the memory....
Im trying to losen the CPU...
Changing the voltage worked, I however Im new to this whole overclocking thing. Whats a good voltage to OC the memory to? Right now its at 1.20000 V. Also I'm planning on Overclocking my CPU eventually.
with F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ (9-9-9-24) occupied in 3 slots or in one, always fails to post. Red DIMM light is on. Checked the motherboard manual and this memory is not on the qualified vendors list (most are7-7-7-10) (though on Newegg G.skill said it would). Do I need different RAM? thanks

don't think it could be temps, case is open and motherboard or CPU temps never seem to exceed 35-40c even on load.
Tried going with 1 stick in dimm 1 and still experienced the same freezes and crashes. Also tried changing memory voltage from the range 1.8-1.95, no changes. 64 bit vista
Tried that as well, no change for me either. I will let you know if I figure anything out. I've tried two different video cards, hard drives, disk drives, power supplies and am confident that all my memory is good. Which leaves either the motherboard or the CPU.
I may have spoken too soon. After installing updates and such if my PC ever reaches the desktop it freezes shortly thereafter. If audio is playing it continually replays the last note distorted. Re-running mem tests, though with 5 successful passes for each stick I cannot see how that could be...
Ran memtest on each stick individually, all good through 5 passes. Then ran test with all 4 sticks for 5 passes. Inserted windows disk, installed and booted with no problems. Issues I was experiencing disappeared for whatever reason. Though I'm not complaining :D
Thanks for both suggestions - tried installing separately on both HDD with different SATA cables - same problem. Memory is at default voltage, I will try manually setting to 1.65 (default is 1.85)
Just got core i5, 8gb ddr3 mushkin and msi p55-gd80 motherboard. On windows installation it would constantly freeze at the expanding files section if all 4 sticks were in, the only way I could install is with two or one. I was capable of getting all drivers installed last night and began windows...
I just got the LG and I like it. It came with SATA cables, install disks and the drive itself. I popped in Planet Earth and it said I had to update to play Blu Ray movies. Absolutely no problems and the picture is great! I haven't tried HD DVD but I'm assuming it's probably the same.

I think it would be irresponsible to assume that the detail increases of the last 10 years won't be matched or even surpassed by the next 10. Moore's Law is good till 2020.
I bought 2 of the Zalmam Mic's w/ Clips and both of them won't register any sound, I believed it was highly unlikely both were failures, so i can think we can assume that it's a sound card problem. i'm relatively sure i have it plugged in to the correct slot, the very left on that image I...
Mine runs its initial boot cycle everytime even though I followed the instructions verbatim (it tries to print to align cartridges, it prints, it says to put it on the scanner and the scanner then just perpetually sits there.) I think it might be a hardware problem, but knowing the shittiness of...
Does anyone have the C4380 printer? This is literally the WORST device known to mankind. The drivers that come with it SUCK and leave an allegedly WI-FI enabled, multifunction printer to basic printing capabilities. I fucking hate HP and I will never buy another one of their crappy products ever...
My seagate HDD wouldn't be recognized by my BIOS even though I could hear it. When drives die, do they just not even turn on or do they still access information by themselves? Any assistance would greatly help.
It won't recognize my HDD, even though I've had this system set up for 8+ months with absolutely no problems, it just wouldn't boot up today for whatever reason. The HDD didn't die as far as I know, as I can hear it as it boots up and accesses, and my mobo has no trouble detecting anything else...
And for a few days I was making changes to the sound settings via my sound card software (X-FI Xtreme Audio Gamer Edition). I mostly copied their recommended settings for music listening and enabling a headphone option. I was not as thrilled as I thought I would have been with the sound quality...
I can't drag my music to my new iphone 3G like I could with my Ipod touch or Ipod classic. It lets my sync and add it all in that way, but that gives me absolutely no control over what I add. Is there a way to manually drag it all over onto my iPhone? Thanks!:)
I'm looking for headphones that have good sound quality for music and games, but also have a microphone. I have the Seinheiser HD280's, and was quite impressed by their sound quality, but notso much by their overall feel---they are quite heavy. They also lack a microphone.
Is there a good...
I've been having this on one computer for quite a while now.
Heres the situation,
1. My old house, this one computer wouldn't acquire network address (wirelessly), fixed it somehow, although I have no idea how.
2. Moved, same problem as soon as I got into my new house.
3. Got a new...
