    XP-90C with a KV8-MAX3.

So, I just got my shiny new heatsink in, and I had a bit of a problem. I went to mount it, and the PWM stuff in the top-left of the board seems to be blocking one of the retention brackets on the heatsink from locking in. I know it's a big no-no to run it with one unattached, but I'm wondering...

    New audio reccomendations

So, after finding a bit of a problem with the onboard sound on my computer (AC-97, 8 channel, but the back-panel onboard port is dead for the L/R stereo front), and having generally crappy speakers, I've been highly considering getting a new sound card and speakers. I've been eyeing the...

Explorer.exe crash when text files load.

Here's a cranker for all of you. I just installed WinXP SP2 on my desktop, and I get an Explorer error whenever I open a plain old .txt file. Every single time. I'd think it'd just be my computer and try reformatting, but my parent's also bought a new Dell and it has the exact same problem...

    Watercooling a PSU: Questions

So in a few weeks I'm going to start building a watercooling kit for my A64 tower before the SoCal summer hits. I've got a heatercore on it's way from my dad's truck shop (he's ripping one from an old diesel engine, it'll handle a LOT of heat really well), and I'm planning on getting rid of...

    Non-ECC vs. ECC: Compatibility

I'm currently putting a new computer together on a KV8-MAX3 board. According to the specs, it has support for ECC DDR400RAM. I was wondering if ECC RAM is required, or if I can go backwards a bit and plug in some non-ECC RAM.
