I just got a new computer working, and I get flawless throughput tests online with default settings.
Only problem is, workgroup intranetwork transfers (only to this PC) are going at <1MB/s, I can't get an actual speed, but I may go even lower. It's taken me over 200 minutes to transfer 10...
OK, I managed to run the windows setup disks, but it claims it can't find a CD-ROM
The POST or something like it lists the CD/DVD ROM as Drive 0....
Any takers? :(
Serial.
All serial related things are Enabled or Auto.
The BIOS detects it both manually and automatically as Channel 1 Master in BIOS, Channel 2 Master in all on screen text walls.
Also now that I look at it, boot priority references "Ch0 M. ST3200B20AS" as the primary boot disk if in SATA...
Yeah I'm leaning toward faulty MOBO.
Retailer says it works fine, but new developement.
HDD has Windows XP installed on it, no change in boot behavior.
Both "Failsafe" and "Optimized" settings fail.
BIOS reset was by removing the battery.
1) Boot process detects the opti drive, bios shows no record
2) Did, same result
3) -Working on it-
4) Did, no go.
A) Yes
B) -nothing what so ever-
C) Any of 3
D) This prompt never appears
It recognizes the ram per normal, finds no drives, finds no ide devices, otherwise boot is identical.
Removed all non-essential hardware components, repeat, no change.
Not entirely sure the mobo... Big huge Foxconn on it though
Pentium D 2.8, 2 GB ram, 200 GB SATA
No floppies to work with, unfortunately.
All USB are disconnected except when attempting USB boot.
I've tried reseating the opti drive, even changing it, but I need one of them at the least...
All recourses result in "DISK BOOT FAILURE, PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"
CD's wont prompt boot. (On either of a CD-Rom or DVD-RW)
USB boots wont boot, or hangs if no failure.
Boot from LAN properly attempts to boot, but fails expectedly.
I've done every combination of Boot...
I've been using this laptop for about 3 years now, and all of a sudden, I'm having a 40% power drain in around 20-30 min, with a worn out battery (going to critical levels of <10% charge at between 58-65% charge), and so it automatically shut itself off and I went to plug it in to charge...
Now wer're getting somewhere.
Throttle watch didn't show any signs of throttling (to my knowledge, didn't even have the throttle selectable @.@)
However, I don't know where to check for throttle settings, and I've actually uninstalled and switched to Omega and there was no change in...
I was playing WoW and getting more than stable FPS, and after an interface restart, I've been unable to get higher than 22 FPS (vs 30+) in most settings, leading to a sort of limping effect with the video.
Now I've started to notice the same interval stutter while watching video.
It's a crappy...
I have Toshiba laptop that came with the Microsoft Works program and with the product key and trial key. The first time around, I tried putting in the product key but it didn't work, so I just used the trial key for the time being. It worked, so I paid it no mind. But now it has expired and I...
I just enabled these, and my fonts in a few places have changed.
I know it's rather minor, but the main issue of change has been in IRC-ish HTML chats, the font changed from basic arial to something I can't quite discern.
Descriptively, the pt size seems to be reduced about 80% (12 point...
well right now, I'm on a laptop with 1GB and a GeF 440 Go 64 MB 4x AGP dx7 card >.> I can play DoD source pretty well with no quality settings and get 20-40 in most situations that require good FPS...
I mean, it's not sweet, but it seems stable... The only problem is that I don't really...
yeah, that's the jist I was getting...
I don't really have money for anything and it was the first thing that came up when I was looking at barebones... my mobo on my desktop is fried, so I'm kinda screwed >.>
I was looking at barebones kits and I stumbled upon one that seems to be either a really good deal or really misleading...
Considering that it comes with a video card, and I've fallen out of the race since my PC died, I'm not sure where it stands or how it competes.
System...
oo, thanks, I totally forgot about both of those ^_^
After about a month, HP finally sent me the part I needed (after doing nothing but dumbshit until now) and I forgot about all the settings I had changed a year ago.
Having some trouble with a new partition setup.
A "property" query for the whole partition (Local ( C: ) Properties) is showing 3.97/5 GB
A "ctrl+a" properties query for the whole partion (from the same level) is showing 1.51 GB..
And I'm having trouble finding this hidden 2.5 GB, so...
I looked at that dell... it's a definate possibility due to that huge rebate, but I no <3 the base ram :D
where's the 40% off coupon though? i like 800 dollar savings...
yeah, dell, what? Atleast alienware looks cool or something O.o, guess it couldn't hurt to check out, I'd sell my soul to the devil for power, so why not to dell for a laptop?
Strangely enough, though, my old system has higher specs than your min spec system. But it's all broke n shit...
cool cool, too bad the alienware i was using is running at about 2,800 atm with those settings, but I GUESS that's acceptable since it's including some surround sound headphones, bf2, and a few other optional things that don't directly effect the laptop..
Thanks for the help, though, how well...
Ok, looking at this Alienware model, trying to tweak it to get what i want without going too cheap... Vidcard, Mobility Radeon X800, GF Go 6800, or 6800 Ultra? All have 256 DDR 3, but I've so totally lost touch with the vid card races that these numbers don't mean much to me lol...
And...
