For the last 10 years we ( The UK ) have been using almost exclusively chip and pin.
It seems to an invention a little behind the times to me.
I guess the magnetic strip is more widely used in other parts of the world.
I might as well stick with the current processor for the time being.
It is currently overclocked to 4.0Ghz so it looks like it won't be too far off the current crop at default speeds.
Thanks for the help.
I'm looking to upgrade from my existing i5 2500k processor, but spend most of my time using older single threaded applications such as 3DStudio Max.
Would anyone care to recommend a faster CPU from the current crop?
I assume that you can still turn off Hyper threading, but I must admit...
I had had the Sidewinder X4 now for a while, I think it is a really good entry level gaming keyboard. It is nice to type on, not overly flashy, looks like a normal keyboard, has a adjustable backlight for late night gaming and is cheap to pick up.
( it is still limited to 17 simultaneous key...
For all of you still wondering about the CPU it is just a socket 370 Pentium 3.
The system was just a very small network server I pulled to bits, I'm trying to find a picture of it in one piece.
The 1U heatsink that came with the Motherboard was only about 1cm high and would overheat in...
It is a fully functional PC
P3 900 MHZ, 256 ram, 30 GB of Hard disk space, running a very stripped down windows with Open Home theater as the shell. On board network for easy uploading of files, and it has S-Video out for connection to a TV.
Video playback is flawless, but it only has stereo...
Computer inside a CD wallet
You think I'm joking don't you.
One of the easiest case mods I think I have done, I didn't even have to get out the dremel.
I need to get some black tubing or something to neaten up the hole for the passive heatsink and it's done.

I'm sure the hardware on these chips allowed for 32 to be run in parallel? Im only going from memory, so I will probably get corrected.
Edit - Like this ...
The TCCD is simply the type of chips that are used on the ram.
They are manufactured by Samsung and are proving to be excellent RAM for reaching high speeds. (Up to 300mhz - dependant on chip luck)
TCCD is Samsungs product code for their ram.
T= TSOP2 (Package)
C= Commercial, normal...
Assuming that it is all connected up correctly, and that the drive is still working.(it should be if it is seen by Windows, although I have seen Windows pick up dead drives before)
Make sure that the controller has been set up properly by Windows, drivers and what not.
See if the drive has...
You can plug two power supplies into the motherboard at the same time. If you turn off one of the supplies then the motherboard still remains powered up (although the drives and stuff still turn off).
I was just going to plug both of them in and I haven't decided how to wire up the drives yet.
Thanks for the advice, I didn't realize there was such a difference between the ATX power supplies.
I ended up buying two of the OCZ Powerstream 420watts, I'm planning to use one as a redundant power supply. It worked out at a similar price to the Enermax max one, so I'm happy.
Well to cut a long story short, I need a power supply.
I Running a Tyan thunder 2500, with a dual P3 500mhz. I have a 400 watt, Vamaquest power supply. The board ran fine until I start building up my Hard drive array. I have been adding more hard drives to the array when I full up the...
Ok I have this motherboard, and I was just trying to find a use for it.
Any good ideas?
Its a P3 900MHZ I think ? It is a full system not a laptop pull.
Does anyone remember the old MS-DOS RAM drives?? I think, if you can still set these up in newer versions of windows, that it might be very interesting to see the results. It would certainly remove any possibility of HD speed.
Booting problems with a Compaq 5500
I have an old Compaq 5500 server (if you can remember back that far) I want to turn into a simple file server for my home network. It has two 4.3 gig SCSI hds attached to the Compaq smart controller that are used to hold the operating system.
I want...
