From what I have read and have experienced with my shield TV's and HDR content. You must change the color-space setting to enable HDR, but if you leave it set for HDR, SDR content is dim and washed out, so you need to manually change it. Supposedly Nvidia is working on auto color-space switching...
A newer gen i7 would be better, one that would allow hardware encoding using Intel quicksync. I am not sure if Plex supports AMD hardware encoding as of yet, you should check the Plex forums to see. But first, the issue may be with your HTPC, can it direct play 4K content? It seems like your...
Good advice, however in my case bluescreenview and who crashed me gave no information that was helpful. Just that a video scheduler internal error had occurred.
Are you running hardware monitoring software? In particular CorsairLink and any other at the same time. I had run CorsairLink and Aida64 together for years, up until about 6 months ago when Corsair made a change to CorsairLink causing very similar issues to what you describe. If so, see this...
I have built many NAS systems both FreeNAS and unRAID. For ease of use, unRAID is the way to go. It has a great web UI, lots of community support and setup is a breeze.
I built a new system with this board back in January. In the first 2 months, I had the sound issue once. Then it started happening every 2 weeks or so and then every other day. Needless to say, the board is out of my system and going back to Gigabyte. Just great, the main reason I picked the...
I have a Asus Strix 980. The system would lock 4 out of 5 times after leaving it, not allowing the system to sleep only the monitor in power save. I could game for hours without issue, then it would just randomly lock while web browsing.
Not that much of my actual time, but running a full deep...
Hopefully these will fix the black screen lockup bug from the last ones. Nothing like building a new system, having it lockup randomly with a black screen. Spending hours testing everything only to discover its the video drivers.
Have this board and a 950 pro. When I had it in the M.2 slot it would hit 66c under load, so there is some heat dissipation going on, not enough though. Moved it to an Anglebird Wings PX1 adapter and dropped the temp 10c. I noticed that the heatsink was not making full contact with the ssd so I...
You would think that with MS pushing the upgrade to 10 so hard, they would have fixed this by now.
Also some of those ancient HP laser printers will still be working fine long after the cheap shit made today dies. I have a 1320n (Networked) that is 12 years old that runs great. I have only had...
This is head up for any of you running into this issue. The Threshold 2 / 1511 Windows 10 update breaks parallel ports, causing printers and other LPT devices to stop working. I ran into this for the second time last night and after some searching found that this is a known Microsoft issue. In...
You are correct. Major Geeks incorrectly lists Windows 10 support.
Here is the weird thing on my work system I have it installed and rapid is shown as enabled. I upgraded from version 4.4, which is known to work with Win 10. However a clean install on another system and no joy with rapid. It...
Yes, I have seen this before with some ASUS displays. Its a cost savings measure by ASUS, there is another similar model with speakers. They both use the same control board, and are identical, with the exception that one does not have speakers installed. What is really confusing is that they...
First check that the drive is recognized correctly in device manager. If it is you could run DISKPART to see if the drive has been partitioned and formatted. Be very careful and make sure that you are working with the flash drive and not your fixed disc, as you can destroy your data. Here is a...
It seems like the new firmware is immediately available now, once you update the magician software. Last week I had to wait 2 days for it to show up, today I had both systems that I updated have the firmware show up right away.
Teenage. I grew up during the computer / arcade gaming craze of the 80's and this book really pays tribute to that era.
Here is the description from Amazon.
In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual...
Great book, highly recommend it. I hope he can do it justice. But I fear that the studio will make him change the story to appeal to a mass audience, loosing the heart of the book.
I have seen this before on Acer laptops. Something in there recovery partition setup. If you Google it, you will find a few forum posts discussing the issue. I have not found a solution yet.
I have built many HTPC's and I am really liking AMD APU's lately. Good, cheap, and better video quality than Intel HD graphics. I like the AMD A4-6300 Richland Dual-Core 3.7GHz CPU, plenty of power for HTPC needs and only $37. As for the MB just get a good brand name one. Nothing fancy is needed...
Why not use a metadata manager, like Media Center Master? Install, et it for XBMC. It will automatically download all artwork and metadata for your media, done. You can even set the size for all artwork.
XBMC does not require a server. It plays files from a shared folder perfectly. The only reason in my opinion, to use a server like Mediabrowser 3 or Plex is if you also want to access your media on a mobile device or smart appliance (TV, Roku, and such).
With Gotham you can just add the source and set the type i.e. Movies or TV shows. Then select files are in separate folders with matching titles for your Movies and use local metadata information for both types. That way XBMC will not use an external source for metadata, As you are using Media...
Your TV shows are not being found correctly because you most likely have not followed the recommend XBMC TV show naming conventions.
Find it here.http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Naming_video_files/TV_shows
Also you may want to look into a metadata manager program, like Media Center...
