Apple's displays (for me) always run a bit hot. I've got a 19 in Sony that doesnt get nearly as hot as my Apple, BUT the Sony pic quality also sucks (dont buy Sony, sitting them side by side, there is no comparison).
Oh yeah, how hot is hot?
I get the same thing on my Powerbook, My Wifes Powerbook, and both G5s (tower, iMac).
The CD being hot really is quite common and I dont think will hurt anything.
I think the G3s were cooled by convection, so, if it is an iMac dont put anything on top of it, if it is an iBook keep it off...
RAM is about the only thing to get.
I got an old 667 Ti book and it it still kicking for everything from browsing to burning to watching movies.
No, I wont be using Final Cut Pro with it, but I surely can do a lot.
It gets hot, and thats how I know it is still working. No Tiger on it...
Oh, I never paid for Windows or basically any game that I used before I got married, but Macs are different, you know?
Do I need to buy another Tiger or is it cool to give it to my laptop (Jag).
You won't see much change as long as it is being emulated.
Of course, Leopard will change that, but even a 4ghz Pentium emulated will be like a 2.5 PPC non emulated in my opinion.
Rosetta will slow things down no matter how much they prepared for the change. Leopard will speed it up, the...
Actually, yes, I did it today.
The Sony H73 19' monitor (not H75 I think) monitor is the same size as the iMac and fits quite well next to it. The colors contrast like the dickens, but I hardly notice.
I got the 19in monitor I got from Circuit City for 249$ without rebate or other...
Well, I would buy anythng EXCEPT a Powerbook right now.
Powerbooks are in a sad state of affairs.
Thw whole Intel switch thing won't matter too much either way for most people. but I reckon that BECAUSE the Powerbooks are so outdated that they will be the first to get the Intel Inside...
By that you mean something like a Sony?
The analog 15 pin vga connector?
All Sony's have em that I've looked at, and I still have a mini to VGA cable, so I'm going to try this.
P.S. Buying another 20 in is out of the question now, for a bit, since my truck's tierods decided to break.
Ok, I got the Mini VGA to VGA, but the Apple Cinema is DVI...
So, should I get the VGA to DVI and hook it up that way?
Anyone know?
iMac > mini vga to VGA to VGA to DVI to 20 in cinema?
just wanna know before I buy.
I know that it is not supported by Apple, but has anyone done this before?
I have the hack, which works, but how do I go about hooking up the extra monitor?
Do I get Apple's Mini DVI to DVI cable to hook up the Apple LCD? Or is there more to it?
Aha! Not true!! I stepped on my wife's PB right on the DVD drive and it still works perfectly fine.
BUT, I guess you said drop.... Well, my weight is prolly the equivilent.
iPods will be in demand, as they are now, years from now.
People are just beginning the digital music phenomenom. Realize that really, you are looking at a very small percentage of people that have these iPods, and more and more customers will become available every year.
Of course sales...
I can tell you that WoW ran terrific on an original (1.8) with the crappy card (5200).
The detail was not all there, but the game play was fluid and seamless. I can only imagine the newer one would be better.
Macs have a long life time.
My sister in law has an original iMac that she is still using for her day to day.
I used a G4 iMac 800 for until this year.
My wife has a Powerbook 667 that I bought her that still runs fine.
Some people at work still use PowerMac G4s.
This is just...
Change the sleep setting to Never, but if it still sleeps, then you got a thermal problem on your hands.
Yours is probably a revision A or something close, which means AppleCare is probably out of the question (June 2003 or so, right?)
I would make sure that the computer is in a well...
I am just wondering, prolly for my own personal desire for information, but was Star Wars Episode III made on Macs?
I know Episode I and II were made with G4 towers as I have seen in many behind the scenes shots, but I haven't seen or heard anything about III.
Anyone know?
From my...
Apple figures that they can use their current business model, which is proprietary hardware/software at a premium. They just hope that going with Intel keeps them more up to date and faster.
Nothing much will change... not yet, I bet Apple in a few years does open up OS 11 or 12 or whatever...
It runs hot. But, any notebook really does.
I just drove to Atlantic City with my wife, who, for eight hours (with the help of a power inverter) watched movies on mine nearly the whole time.
It gets hot, but you cant cook an egg on it.
I wish they would move to AMD if anything.
Remember the old Apple commercials against the PIII?
Those were funny.
IBM, however, if this is true, really screwed themselves here. I like IBM and I think they are one of the best in the business (didn't like the Lenovo move though)...
Ok, so I bought a second generation iPod that flat out sucked, with really crappy battery life (compared to my 3rd and mini).
Does Apple have me on record or something?
How does it work? Do they want the 2nd back? (They can have it)
I'm on the Blockbuster Welfare Program - unlimited DVDs etc for 15$ a month.
I get em, rip and burn, return.
I got the whole 24 series and some other good ones.
It is a good alure. :]
