If I bought a Powerbook 4 months ago through Best Buy, will it still be covered through Applecare? Now, Best Buy aside, is there any hope?

Apple's displays (for me) always run a bit hot. I've got a 19 in Sony that doesnt get nearly as hot as my Apple, BUT the Sony pic quality also sucks (dont buy Sony, sitting them side by side, there is no comparison). Oh yeah, how hot is hot?

I get the same thing on my Powerbook, My Wifes Powerbook, and both G5s (tower, iMac). The CD being hot really is quite common and I dont think will hurt anything. I think the G3s were cooled by convection, so, if it is an iMac dont put anything on top of it, if it is an iBook keep it off...

RAM is about the only thing to get. I got an old 667 Ti book and it it still kicking for everything from browsing to burning to watching movies. No, I wont be using Final Cut Pro with it, but I surely can do a lot. It gets hot, and thats how I know it is still working. No Tiger on it...

Well, I would buy anythng EXCEPT a Powerbook right now. Powerbooks are in a sad state of affairs. Thw whole Intel switch thing won't matter too much either way for most people. but I reckon that BECAUSE the Powerbooks are so outdated that they will be the first to get the Intel Inside...

is HD-15 the same thing as analog vga?

By that you mean something like a Sony? The analog 15 pin vga connector? All Sony's have em that I've looked at, and I still have a mini to VGA cable, so I'm going to try this. P.S. Buying another 20 in is out of the question now, for a bit, since my truck's tierods decided to break.

Ok, I got the Mini VGA to VGA, but the Apple Cinema is DVI... So, should I get the VGA to DVI and hook it up that way? Anyone know? iMac > mini vga to VGA to VGA to DVI to 20 in cinema? just wanna know before I buy.

You are living in last century. Find new software to go with OS X. Thats pretty simple, there are thousands of them.

I can tell you that WoW ran terrific on an original (1.8) with the crappy card (5200). The detail was not all there, but the game play was fluid and seamless. I can only imagine the newer one would be better.

Apple figures that they can use their current business model, which is proprietary hardware/software at a premium. They just hope that going with Intel keeps them more up to date and faster. Nothing much will change... not yet, I bet Apple in a few years does open up OS 11 or 12 or whatever...

It runs hot. But, any notebook really does. I just drove to Atlantic City with my wife, who, for eight hours (with the help of a power inverter) watched movies on mine nearly the whole time. It gets hot, but you cant cook an egg on it.
