I paid $215 CDN. I'm quite happy with it so far. I don't game much and the 2 games I've tried (Train Sim 2016) and TF2 both at 4K resolution, max details but no AA work just fine.
Power draw for the system with the new videocard is 330 under max gpu and cpu load.
Just did some stress testing and measured some power consumption.
CPU+GPU Under Furmark = 153W
Since my PSU puts out 350W on the 12V rail, in theory I have about 190W of room.
Probably still going to look at a PSU upgrade
Still haven't decided yet, CPU upgrade is out as I don't want to take apart the system.
The PSU is Seasonic SS-400HT. Obviously its getting a little bit older and does NOT have PCI-E connectors.
I like the idea of going with a GTX 970, I might just end up getting a slightly better power supply.
5 Years ago I built a computer around an OC'd i5 660, ended up giving it to my parents, they no longer need it (moving to a Surface Book) so I've got this computer back. Looking to possible repurpose it to a HTPC/Light Gaming.

I have the HP 3005 Dock(More than just video) with the Displaylink DL3900. It Only supports 1x 2560x1600@60hz and 1x1920x1200@60hz
The startech one is a standalone adaptor that you would have use multiple ones to get the desired output you want.
I have used my dock with an original...
I think this is being blown way out of proportion. But you are right if you don't have built in WIFI or hotspot access in the vehicle, nothing to worry about.
With unlimited data plans and the ability to stream audio via phone to the vehicles stereo, not sure why anyone would pay for...
During my somewhat normal 8 hour work day, my Samsung Gear 2 lasts about 2.5 days, when i'm home I just leave it sit unplugged. So in reality is unplugged for 2.5 days before it needs a recharge.
Not a small laptop but my Asus G75 with gtx660m could run 4 displays. I ran 2 1440p monitors via hdmi and display port plus the internal screen. Still had the vga output to use if needed. I like the idea of having a screen or screens clipped to the side but haven't seen anything like...
The Rig in my sig is now a year old but still decently powerful, the GPU isn't anything to write home about, basically a HD7770

I paid 1800 (CDN $) last Sept, I still think it's one of the better AIW's
I upgraded to an SSD and put in...
I have an HP 3005 usb 3.0 docking station it has display port and hdmi can run 2560x1600 via both outputs. Has worked flawlessly for me. You won't notice much lag at all if you have a fast cpu used with a i7 4500u it wasn't too bad. Dropping the resolution helps. Tried it out on my i7...
That is correct however I'm running 2 monitors off the 2 thunderbolt ports via display port at 2560x1440 without issues. I know I don't have thunderbolt 2 but thunderbolt has the same connection as mini display port.
I have an Asus ET2702 with a Radeon HD8890A 2GB I'm trying to figure out whether or not it can support 4K displays at 60hz or not.

From my searches online there is nothing mentioned about a Radeon HD8890A 2GB other than...
I recently picked up an XPS 12 i7 4500u 8GB 128GB SSD
I used to have a surface pro and before that an Asus EP121.
I liked the surface pro but I found for using the tablet as a laptop in my lap for typing the surface keyboard wasn't good enough.
I bought the xps to mainly use a laptop...
A4 1200 Passmark
A6 1450 Passmark
Cpu Benchmarks
I wouldn't mind an A6 1450 in a smallish ultrabook, should be pretty good battery life based on its power consumption.
Here is a picture of an ASUS 27" All in one PC ET2702 to be exact

Samsung 840 250GB SSD
Radeon 8890m 2GB

I upgraded the HDD ->SSD
Ram from 8GB->32GB
AS you can see in this case it has...
Just thought i'd provide an update regarding performance at 2560x1440 via the HP usb 3.0 dock.
Normally I use it with my surface pro (i5 3317u) and it works good although I can "feel" some lag and sluggish performance at times depending on how much stuff is going on on the usb monitor. If...
Its probably wayyyy too huge in terms of size but my previous Asus G75VW could run the internal screen plus 3 others if you used the display port hdmi and vga out. Even without using the displayport you could use the notebook screen plus 2 others.
I have the hp3000pr. I use it with my surface pro and 2 Asus 1440p 27' lcds. The lcd driven through the dock displays spreadsheets and streams from youtube and Netflix. There is some mouse lag if you use the dock lcd as the "main" monitor but for my uses it does just fine. One thing to keep...
Picked up a pair of these at my local bestbuy for 649.99 cdn.
So far so good, backlight bleed is minimal. Just took a bit of time to get the colors calibrated how I like. I don't really game that much but the few games i've tried haven't noticed any ghosting.
I had an opteron [email protected] on an Asrock S939 Dual-Sata2 the mobo that could eventually take am2 cpu's and ddr2 ram, i got alot of life out of that system. Most motherboards could support the old opterons.
PS even had that corsair ram that had the led activity lights.....lol
My back up rig is a i5 660, running at 4.5ghz using a Corsair H80 for cooling.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/117?vs=677
With a decent OC behind it I think it would still make a respectable rig for today depending on your expected use of it. If you can indeed find a decently...
i7 720qm max turbo boost using all 4 is 1.73ghz 2.4ghz on 2 and 2.8ghz on one. so everything is working as it should, the 1st gen i7's got hot quick which diminished their turbo boost functionality.
Any laptop with DP and an ati gpu should do eyefinity (3 displays) using dp, vga and hdmi my B43j works with the internal display + 2 others, or just 3 external displays.
My G75v also supports multimonitor, right now im running the internal screen + hdmi and vga, it has a kepler gpu (gtx...
I have a G75V in my sig max supported ram is 32gb (4x8dimms).
Now the laptop came with WIn 7 Home Premium, with the limit of 16gbs of ram.
I also have a B43J which came with Win 7 Professional. I no longer use that laptop, would it be possible to download a copy of Win 7 Pro and install...
I've used a cyberpower 1500VA UPS for 2 years now with now issues its 900w capacity, and with everything (30" + 27" + 19" LCD plus my tower) at the very worst i'm drawing just under 600w, gives me about 6 mins of runtime but its enough time to shut down if the power is out for a long period of time.
http://www.logicsupply.com/products/pelx16_c11 This is probably what you are looking for. I don't have any experience with them so i'm not sure how well they work.
*edit* apparently they are discontinued from that vendor, sorry.
The stock fans move alot of air but they are very loud, pretty much sound like a fan you'd put in your room to keep it cool. There are voltage reducers that come with the kit which allow them to run at a reduced speed and not be as loud.
I"ve got my 660 on an H70, took the stock fans out as they are crazy loud (push good air though) I replaced them with Scythe fans (not sure of the model number) but they are virtually silent.
4.6ghz with 1.35v my idle temps are 28-30 and load is 58-60
If you are going from air to the H70...
You can check out my thread here
Now I have 4 of them in raid 0 however they do scale very well, depends on your expected use, I have them on my desktop for programs and games, and they do very well.
I was in somewhat of a hurry when I was setting up the system and didn't have much time, from brief reading up it seems 1.4v was the safe upper limit for the 32nm chips, I put it to 1.35 and went to 4.15ghz, like i said this weekend i'm going to try for around 4.5ghz or so, basically as high...
