Well, this is cheaper than most PSUs over 600W, so it's not really spending the money for a 1000W PSU, it's more like if you have a budget of $100 you may decide to get a mediocre 1000W one instead of a really nice 600W one.
That makes more sense. I'd probably place more trust in a quality...
Man... wish this deal had been around when I got my 720! That's a crazy price. This is partially motivated by the fact that my 720 doesn't seem to want to overclock much.
I bought it at launch for $60 and in retrospect it wasn't worth it. But for $30 it probably is, at least if you like fighter jets.
And yeah, a lot of people hate the third person view but there are two things:
1. You don't have to use it (the tutorial is the ONLY mission where you're ever...
I have it for 360. It's pretty fun. There are tons of planes to choose from and unlock (I think around 80!). And it's very arcadey - you get hundreds of missiles and you can take several missile hits before going down. Also the scenery is pretty good (though the texture quality looks kinda bad...
Wow, that worked! I did the following after I got home:
- Increased the HT voltage from 1.2v to 1.3v
- Increased the NB voltage from 1.2v to 1.3v
- Disabled the onboard video (not using it right now)
- Set the CPU for 1.475v (CPU-Z reports 1.44v) and 3.3 GHz
I did HyperPi to 1M places...
Doing that now. Before I left for work I started my computer running Prime95. Setting is 3.2 GHz and 1.4v (turns out 3.3 @ 1.5v still isn't totally stable; HyperPi crashed after a few minutes rather than a few seconds). Earlier I was running it at 3.2 at 1.35v, but I bumped it up to 1.4v to be...
I actually tried turning on ACC when I first set up this CPU because doing so is supposed to potentially unlock the fourth core. Unfortunately, with mine it caused it to not post, so I have to leave it off.
Anyway, I accounted for vdroop and checking CPU-Z it's now doing 1.504v. And at 3.4...
Just got a Phenom II X3 720BE. I heard it can overclock to 3.5 pretty easily so I started playing around with the multiplier (my motherboard, btw, is a Biostar TA790GX 128M).
I've been using HyperPi to test and assuming that's a reliable indicator of stability, this thing is a really poor...
Personally I'd rather have a Phenom II X3 710 for not that much more. The 9600 is quad core but other than that it sucks. Phenom II has addressed most of the issues with the original Phenoms.
Found this just recently for those looking for a graphics update:

Cheapest 1 GB 4870 around, far as I can tell. Shipping adds like $7-$8 though.
EDIT: Dead. They jacked the price WAY up and now it's almost $70 more. Go...
I don't know about that but there is this MSI one from ZipZoomFly for $159 after rebate:

However, it may not really be right for you because no one quite knows if it's even using the reference cooler or a custom one...
I loved the weapons in Black. Especially the shotguns. Firing them was like unleashing a directed explosion at your enemies. Even though the game was short and shallow, the weapons were really amazing.
Even the little guns in that game were pretty sweet. They took quite a few liberties with...
Price drop. I'm now asking $120 shipped for the bare console and I'll also throw in the original 8 GB hard drive in case you want to use Xbox Live (you'd get banned if you tried accessing Live with the 80 GB hard drive and the modchip enabled).
Controllers are $15 shipped each.
The games I...
I am not that familiar either... I specifically chose to use an 80 GB hard drive because it was very simple. In retrospect, it would have been better to go with a 120 GB hard drive. Past that, and there are a lot more things to consider:
- Does the current version of the BIOS I'm using...
I have a modded Xbox that I need to sell. Here's the rundown:
The Xbox is a version 1.0 with a Thompson drive. I installed a DuoX2 modchip, an 80 GB hard drive, and EvoX dashboard software. I love the thing, but I'm getting tired of Xbox games and anyway I'm traveling to China in a few months...
JUST ADDED - I am selling my BFG GeForce 6800 video card. 350/700 MHz, 128 MB of VRAM, 12 pipelines, and original CDs including Far Cry bundle. $250 shipped.
The 200 GB hard drive and RAM have been sold. I'm also pulling the 250 GB hard drive temporarily because I need to figure out how I'm going to transfer my data off of it. I'll put it back up pretty soon, so if you're interested I'll still take offers but I can't sell it right away.
I tried selling this as a complete system about a week ago, but that didn't go so well. I'm relisting it and selling the individual parts. Here's what I have:
EPoX 8KDA3J motherboard, nForce3 250 chipset, socket 754 - $60 shipped
Creative Labs SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card - $75...
Yeah, I should mention I have heatware under Luca Rescigno, and eBay feedback (for what it's worth) under astromanluca. Also, I'm a moderator at a message board if that means anything to you, http://forums.applenova.com.
My first one was locked, so I double-checked the guidelines and realized that I need an ISP or school-based email for contact. So as an update, you can contact me at [email protected]. Also, to address part-out offers - I will consider them, but I'd prefer to sell the whole system first. I...
A few months ago I built myself a killer gaming PC. Since then I've gotten a bit tired of gaming, and I think I could put the money to better use. Still, the PC I'm selling will run any game currently out there really well! UT 2004 at the highest possible settings? No problem. Doom 3? It'll...
That's a Radeon 9800, not a 9800 Pro. It's a bit slower, and it won't take advantage of the 256 MB of VRAM. Really if you want to get a 256 MB card, you'll have to get at least a GeForce 6800 or Radeon X800 series card.
The 128 MB 9800 Pro is $180 at Outpost.com...
Buying a whole new case just for a front Firewire port? Why can't you just run your iPod's Firewire cable from the back of your case to your desk? You can also get a Firewire hub if you want a port up front.
Or you could get something like this.
Actually I think the iBooks are more durable. They may get superficial damage in the form of light scratches on the smooth case, but the PowerBook is susceptible to dents.
Wouldn't you have to pay a restocking fee to return the PowerBook? I'd say just keep it if you already have it.
It would be nice if you could transfer pictures directly from a digital camera to the iPod. Right now, you have to buy a $100 Belkin card reader that plugs into the iPod in order to do that. I would like a little mini-dock, included with the iPod, that simply converts the dock connector into a...
fryguy, read my response to that. I already did that, in fact I mentioned it earlier in the thread and then quoted for emphasis last night.
But as I said, it doesn't really matter. I figured out what the problem was, but I had to do a search here, which turned up a thread that had a link to...
