I've got the Samsung HLP4674W and I love it. (46 inch DLP) The HLP4674W uses the HD2+ DLP chip instead of the HD3 chip that is used in other Samsung models like the HLP5063. The HD2+ chip produces a sharper picture and has better black levels. The Toshiba set that you listed also uses the HD2+...
I've been using variations of my current Gmail address that have not been assigned to anyone for just that reason. If I win I will activate the email account in a hurry. ;)
Thanks for the coupon. I actually won my own coupon after I realized that I could use the "back button" to create new accounts with fake email addresses.
Thanks again.
I called Dell tech report to report backlight leakage on my first monitor and recorded the trouble ticket number. I called customer service, asked them nicely to read the trouble ticket, and let them know that I spent over an hour on the phone trying to get a replacement LCD. I asked to be...
If you have the time and patience to deal with Dell's support personnel until you get a near perfect 2001FP you won't be disappointed. If you do receive what you deem to be a defective monitor ask for a "service credit" and they will give you one. I purchased a 2001FP for $700 but returned it a...
I know this is the [Hot]Deals forum and all but you guys are showing an excessive amount of patience waiting for free gmail accounts considering the going rate on ebay is down to $1.
Yesterday I bought 8 accounts (one at a time) for a total of $9.25.
When I start getting invites, I'll...
I don't think I took advantage of Dell on this even though I did get a sweet deal. I did waste hours of work time getting bounced around between support personnel. Of course it was my employer who lost out there.
The first monitor I received had three dead sub pixels, but no...
Dell pays shipping on the replacement and the return. (Overnight if requested) Have the technician document the return in a case ticket and ask for the number. If it takes multiple calls to coordinate the LCD exchange have the support person log the content of each call in the original ticket...
You don't have to send the monitor back to get a replacement.
If the backlighting leak is not acceptable ask for another LCD, and a 3rd and 4th if necessary. I stopped after four. Eventually you will get a monitor that you like, or like me will realize that the first monitor received was...
I posted some pictures of 1080i content displayed in 720p at http://www.pbase.com/orgazmo/2001fp
The 'aspect' mode seems to work best for 16X9 content.
For a standard aspect screen displaying 1080i/720p content I think the picture looks great.
In 'fill' mode you'll notice that the...
I'm still figuring out the options. There are three different display modes on the LCD. (Fill 1:1 and aspect (?) I think)
I read something about the Sony receiver that said it defaults DVI output to whatever the monitor can display. I think thats why the 1080i and 720P modes appeared to...
GOOD NEWS!!! The 2001FP displays all formats of HD with varied levels of success. (Using DVI-D)
There is some cropping/resolution distortion with 1080i but it does display.
I'll try each HD format with the rescale vs native aspect options on the LCD to detremine the best setup for each HD...
I found the manual for the Sony HD receiver online. Turns out that there is a output selector switch on the back of the unit.
I'll retest when I get home from work.
I tried using the 2001FP with my housemates Sony HD300 DirecTV receiver last night without success.
I'm not sure that I configured everything correctly.
I left the receiver attached to our HDTV via component cables.
I connected the RGB (sub-D 15 pin) and DVI outputs to the monitor. I...
