As someone who just installed an 840 pro a little over a week ago, this is a little disheartening. Would it be worth it to return the 840 and get the 850? I see the bench mark differences but do these translate to performance benefits in real world applications?

You need to have more system memory than the most on a single vid card. My old am2 system had 4gigs of ram a 7950 worked perfectly however the 290 had errors when I installed it. I changed to 8gigs of memory and the errors went away.

I believe there are two different types of memory installed on the 290x. I would be interested to see if one of the two gigabyte cards has different memory than the other.

I had the same psu with an amd 640 x4(not OCd), 4 case fans, 1hd, and a gtx 480. From the heat you could tell the psu was working hard but I never had an issue. Just a data point for you to compare to.

When I used to have a 5900nu I could play need for speed on most wanted on medium settings at 1024x768, I bet you could play need for speed on low.

I recently reformatted and am trying to install far cry. The installer gets stopped on the level.pak on the third disc. The installer claims it can not find the file, but when I look for it in the folder, it is there. Is there a way I can download this file, and insert it into the correct folder?
