I have a TN Panel: HP w2408h
I have an IPS Panel: HP ZR24w
While I certainly think the IPS panel is better, I do not think my TN panel is horrible (I have seen much worse in TN panels in comparison to mine). But the TN is about 3-4 years old now. I believe the quality of TN has probably...
I don't come here often, but when it comes to displays, this forum is at the top of my list for information.
What is popular AND meets the requirements in the thread title?
Bought this at Newegg a while back. The power supply died and I need a replacement. I am trying to determine the form factor so that I pick the correct replacement. See case w/PSU here...
FSB value = 333MHz, so you are correct. How would I coax it into a 1:3 ratio, assuming I wanted to experiment a little. Not really an over-clocker, but hey the RAM is rated at 1800MHz with 1.65v. In this board, by virtue of BIOS options, I have to run 1.66v regardless of the ratio.
CPU-Z is showing my ratio as FSB:RAM 1:2. DRAM Frequency is 666MHz. Is this desirable? The memory is rated at 1800MHz and runs in a Gigabyte EP45T-USB3P. I thought a 1:1 ratio is optimal? If so, why would it default to 1:2?
I put the CD but really see nothing I want or need. The pivot software might be useful for some though as it claims to have "5x faster redraw than third-party rotational drivers".
Just bought this 2 weeks ago from buyDOTcom and I have to say that it is a great monitor.
I'm not sure how to adjust the height though.
Also, is the software worth that comes with this monitor useful? Is it worth installing?
I currently have two PCs connected via an HDMI switch to an HP w2408h, purchased just before Christmas '08.
Whenever I switch between the two PCs, the icons move to a left justified position for each computer, i.e., they never stay where I place them. Has anybody else experienced this...
I think I have read in this forum about the problem of getting the HP w2408h to wake from standby. I just switched mine from analog to digital (using HDMI), then went to the kitchen for a little supper. I came back to a monitor that would not wake. I powered down everything in order to get...
I have a w2408h. My vote goes for it. It far exceeds my expectations.
I actually looked at the Samsung T24HD (or is it T240HD?) in a Sam's Club. Not a bad monitor, but I definitely like the HP w2408h better. I thought I would not like a glossy screen, but boy was I wrong.
Only if you...
That was the problem. Many thanks.
On the w2408h it is called "power saver". In XP, I set the video signal to drop after 1 minute in order to test it out. Sure enough, after 1 minute of inactivity, the signal drops and the monitor message shows "monitor going to sleep". The monitor goes...
I never used a screen saver on my CRT because I had the power set to turn it off after 20 minutes of inactivity. But using the same power settings for my new LCD just causes a screen saver type of thing to appear. It is a small box that jumps around. Why is this? Can't the signal just drop...
Wow thanks for the info people. I was looking at that viewsonic LED when I was recently shopping for my first LCD monitor. I was under the impression that everything about the LED would be better - colors, viewing angles, performance, and anything else one might think of. This is the first...
In for one, thanks OP.
Also, question: is there a way to back this up to a removable media (DVD) after I download and install? I have a steam account, but I have never downloaded a full-version game before.
Well, after reading many horrible reviews of DVI switches seemingly across all brand names, I chose not to buy the DVI KVM switch. The technology seems to be riddled with odd problems, but I'm sure many will say otherwise. A secondary issue always came into play as well - many do not support...
I'm trying to figure out what I need in order to operate 3 PCs that are currently connected to an analog KVM switch. I have an HP w2408h LCD and it only has a single HDMI input. Would a DVI KVM swith be the thing to buy to replace my current KVM switch? A little help please; i'm lost
I bought the HP w2408h, which only has only 2 inputs - one VGA and one HDMI.
I have two PCs with video cards that have a DVI port. I have one PC with a VGA port.
Is there a digital KVM switch available that will allow the use of the HDMI input of my LCD for the two PCs with DVI outputs...
Dual-link means 2 DVI ports connect to a single HDMI? Even if that is correct, how is this future proofing? (i'm having trouble seeing where this can be used any other way than that being proposed)
I have to buy one now that I have purchased the w2408h. I don't know which cables are solid in quality vs. those that are flakey. I've seen links to monoprice but the 10ft cables are out of stock.
Opinions on this? link
Okay, well, I have a new w2408h that I've toyed with for about 1 1/2 hour now (and maybe that's not long enough), but for my environment this glossy will work fine. The only time a glare is noticeable is when the screen is black. Normal web surfing is fine. But again, this in a bedroom with...
I agree.
I just purchased a glossy but haven't set it up yet. I only have a single overhead light to worry about, but that is enough to make me not so sure. I made certain I could return this thing in the event that I can't adjust it to avoid glare.
In your case, I would either make...
Okay I think that answers my questions. The LCD itself can behave as if it were the switch for different inputs rather than relying on a KVM..
I would still have to use the KVM in order to switch the keyboard and mouse of course.
So if I buy an LCD with both VGA and HDMI inputs, I am only going to be able to use either one OR the other by connecting/disconnecting them on demand unless the LCD I choose specifically support use of both simultaneously?
Most LCDs have more than one input, correct?
If I buy a monitor that has a VGA, DVI, and HDMI input, can they be used simultaneously by different PCs? i.e., will my LCD display different windows representing different PCs like a picture-in-picture feature? Or does this vary from LCD to LCD...
Yeah same here. I am probably going to order this one tonight. Now i'm wishing I had taken advantage of that free shipping. Although.....it is close to Christmas and the free shipping promo could come around again on or before then.....
Wow, glad I read that. I assumed it could do 1680 x 1050 1:1
So if a monitor is stated to be able to do 1:1, does that mean with any available resolutions, or just with specific resolutions noted?
Well, I don't have a 24'' LCD yet, nor do I have a 20''. But I do believe it is a worthy upgrade, if that is what you are asking. I think the gain from moving from 20'' to 24'' is tangible (i.e., there are many benefits to be had with such an upgrade).
By this, I assume you mean the black levels are either too shallow or just possess a different quality, or did you mean that the black levels are deeper than what you are used to seeing?
Yeah that would be great if you could let me know.
Just a note for anyone considering this model. I have read positive user reviews about the FP241VW. But be warned of two universal complaints: the OSD adjustments operate very slowly, and the preset modes can make certain things look...
