Yes I am using the vga cable on my HDTV. Though I do have VGA input on mine. Not sure about an adaptor though, sorry. If you have an HDTV the component cables should work fine.

I love the wavebird. Yes it is compatible, but just be sure you know, as others have said, there is no rumble.

I live in Ohio and I have gamefly. While I agree that it isn't the fastest, I would still say it is worth it. I know that I am not that fast at finishing games so it seems well worth it to me. Not to mention that I rent games for my roomates as well.

I haven't hooked up through optical yet, however both cables that I have have the optical out put on them. It is on the back of the plug that goes into the 360. Here is a link that may help you out.
