No contest - the dell for the S-IPS panel. I also own a 19 inch dell TN panel and the S-IPS panel slaps that thing silly in terms of colour reproduction. Pictures look so much better on the S-IPS one.
A couple of people have told him to go into the service panel, but he already said he did that in his first post and already stated the panel model. He has an S-IPS panel.
I think you're confused about what desktop mode for the 2007wfp actually is. It's fine for everything. The other modes are just gamma adjustments and aren't really necessary. They're not some magical modes for gaming/movies or anything, they're just different presets. I've had no problems...
Maybe a 19 inch lcd then? If you want easy readability I wouldn't recommend a 17 inch lcd cause it uses a 1280X1024 res, which is the same as 19 inch lcds. I have an uncle who's in his 60s who has a 17 inch lcd, but the font is too small for him, so he needs to run the monitor at 1024X768 to...
Could be that. I'm no expert on the subject and like I said I don't watch dvds on my comp. The only dvd I tested was finding nemo and I noticed grain on it, which I don't see when I play it on my tv.
Well I would assume so, but I don't have a 21 inch crt to test. I also have a lot of avi files (a lot of them dvdrips of stuff) encoded at 640X480 or a res close to that and when I fullscreen them, I see the grain on the vids. The grain is less noticeable on my 19 inch lcd, which has a...
I don't watch dvds on my 2007wfp, but I did try one to see what it looked like. I can see grain when sitting up close, and it's less noticeable if you sit farther back. It's cause the low res dvd source is being upscaled to 1680X1050 res when you full screen the movie. If you don't full...
Yeah I agree, the PS2 looks bad on any high res monitor. I hooked it up to my 2007wfp and it looks bad and blurry cause it's being upscaled to such a high res.
Well you choose what source you want to view. My monitor has a button that switches b/w dvi, vga, composite or svideo. They can all be hooked up at the same time, but only one will be displayed on the monitor. You choose which one. It's no different than choosing which video source to view...
Yes, and if you don't try to full screen the dvd, then that's what you are probably getting. Once you full screen the dvd, you're basically doubling the resolution so the monitor needs to scale it. You'll need to watch high def movies on these high res monitors for dvds to look good.
The 14 days of dell day deals show up once every few months. I got my 2007wfp back in july during that sale. However, they just had a 5 day back to school sale last week as well. The next 14 days of dell day deals would probably show up around nov or december.
The 360 will output stuff at 720P and then use its internal scaler to upscale the res selected through the VGA cable. However, all the available res to choose from are still 16:9 ones and no 16:10 res are available. The image will stretch, but it is not that bad depending on the resolution...
I personally don't think dvds look that great on any 20inch+ widescreen due to the high res of the monitor. I tried a few dvds and when you full screen it, the movies look kind of grainy cause you're taking a low res dvd source and upscaling it to 1680X1050. However, if you sit back a bit you...
Spend the extra money and get the dell. It's well worth it. I love my 2007wfp. :D You just have to wait for the right sale price. It was $379CDN recently.
No, it's not better than the 2007wfp cause it uses a TN panel, while the Dell uses an S-IPS panel. Also, I think it doesn't include a dvi cable though.
Not sure about your other problem, but the wide mode settings can be adjusted when you open a game up. The options are greyed out while viewing the desktop.
How often does that happen? You sure the comp hasn't crashed? I had that happen to my comp a long time ago and it wasn't my monitor, but was cause my comp had crashed and hard locked on me while I was away. That happened to me due to an unstable vid card at the time.
I think I had a similar thing happen to my monitor which was the NEC equivalent of yours. (912FP) I would get this distorted wavy line in the bottom quarter of my screen going up and down in the area. When it did this, my screen would become distorted. It would be like if someone was pushing...
It depends on what games he plays. He says he plays WoW, which isn't very demanding, so his vid card should be fine to play at native res in that game. Other newer games however, would probably not play so well though at native res.
I have an x800pro and it supports that res fine. You just need to install the monitor driver first for that res to show up and then it will be set to that res automatically.

It's about PS2, but still applies to the 360. Some people say the adapter comes with the vga cable, but others say it doesn't. I don't know what is true.
Keep in mind LCD monitors have a refresh rate of 60hz. I saw a thread earlier about someone complaining about playing quake 4 on an LCD cause with vsync you're limited to 60fps and he wanted 120fps for quake 4, but could only get it by turning off vsync which resulted in massive tearing...
I love widescreen for surfing the web. I read a lot of forums and they all fill the screen across, so I can read more. Losing some vertical is something I don't really care or notice and in fact I've gained a little vertically going to 1680X1050 cause I came from a 1280X1024 display. I was a...
No, you connect the usb cable underneath the monitor where all the other inputs are and you plug that into the back of your computer. You still have 2 monitor usb ports.
I've seen the metro at futureshop. It's horrible. I had to check the settings to see if it was at its native res and it was. The monitor is cheap for a reason.
Dell all the way! The NEC is too expensive to be considered best bang for your buck. I have the 2007wfp and it's a great monitor. Have zero complaints about it. :D
