How do you do your HTPC?

I have 2 HTPC's. Both machines are deticated to HTPC use and serve no other purpose... System 1: 2.0G Celeron, 512MB, 250G HD, Emuzed Maui Capture card. Running MCE 2005 connected (via dvi-2-hdmi) to my 51" Toshiba HDTV. MS wireless KB & Mouse, but not used offten, use MCE remote...

oh man... let's see if I can remember. We supported 2 of those when I started my job (about 5 years ago), and weren't overly impressed... The Case is pretty much a standard ATX case, but all the extra connectors (video/audio) were propritary, so you wouldn't be able to re-use those. The...

PC to TV via DVI to HDMI connector

yes, HDMI is still a digital signal. I do that now on my Toshiba 51" and it looks great. The only fun part is finding the right resolution to run at. The NVidia cards (I use a fx5200) have a nice feature that allows direct connecton to a HDTV, and adjusts the resolution accordingly.

FX5200... any way of outputting component video?

The adapter you saw on ebay was for ATI cards (I have one for my 9800pro). What you can do, however, if you have a HDTV with hdmi input is get a cable/converter to go from DVI to HDMI. This is currently what I do with my MCE2k5 box connected to my 51"... I'm pretty sure that most if not all...

    Windows Media Center ?

As I understand it, there is a way to do it by sysprepping the machine. As long as you are going from XP pro, you can use your MCE key and do some special things in the sysprep.inf file to make it work. Let me see if I have a link... ok, I don't have the XP to MCE, but I do have the XP to...

I think you're on the right track... I've done something similar, as I had led fans on a fanbus and didn't want the leds to dim. I disconnected the RPM sensor wire from the fan board and connected it to the power of the leds (this particular fan had all the leds in series, so only one set of...

    Modded LM317 circuit question

    Hard drive activity led array

I would strongly recommend that you not use the MB header directly. Get an opto-isolator and use it to drive the leds, and the header to drive the input of the isolator. Quality problems and quesion about MCE2005

The pixelated picture is caused by the MPEG compression that is used for recording. It can very, depending on the card (the card does some of the compression). Need to get 7.5volt from a PSU, what is the best way?

One thing you have to remember with power supplies, is their voltage is typically rated with a load. With a rating of 7.5V/1A, it indicates that when the load pulls 1A the output voltage is 7.5V. When you add a load to a power supply it's voltage changes depending on the load, because of the...

    DVI Audio in

I don't know if I'd say that HDMI is better... HDMI is just a new spec that carries digital video (same as DVI) and digital audio (as well as being compliant with some copy protections). From what I've read, there is no quality difference between the 2. HDMI is just easier to deal with (only...

    opto-isolator help

Going on his circuit, I wonder if you could adjust the 2.2k resistor to something a little smaller (like 2k or 1.8k) to see if you could get a little more voltage at that node, possibly brightening the leds. dunno if that would work or not, but I think it'd be worth a shot.

Maybe what's happening is that the production machine is putting out a higher voltage or current that...

    Splicing into molex connector

The ground is your black wire on the molex connector... The way it would work is to have each resistor tied to the 12V rail then each Led2 tied to ground. You would just tie all the 12V leads together and connect them to the 12V rail and all the grounds to the 0V (black) rail. You can add...

    Splicing into molex connector

That's not quite correct... You will have a total of 4 seperate circuits, each with a 220 ohm resistor and 2 leds. Each circuit will go like this: 12V --> Resistor --> Led1 --> Led2 --> Ground Your drawing shows the 2 circuits in series, the leds would be dim like that.
  40. X

    Splicing into molex connector

yes, that is correct. Just cut the 2 wires (most likely red and black) that go to the fan and those will give you the 12V rail to use for your leds. Now, for the leds. You can't use 1 resistor and connect all the leds in parallel to that resisitor. Even though a led may be rated at (for...
