I think that nVidia is making a mistake. If 30% of your profit comes from a certain segment, you don't disrupt it. Much like "Never interrupt an enemy when he is making a mistake" "Don't fix what isn't broken" is a strong reflection.

The writing was on the wall even two years ago that 4GB of RAM wasn't nearly enough for the future. I expect we will see 8 GB being the bare minimum moving forward in late 2018. Add a few mods to AAA titles, and you can sink a lot of cards that don't have 8 GB's even now in late 2017.
