well i was faced with this same decision, and i chose the evga 7900gs ko, i'm building a new rig got new mobo, cpu, everything. i decided to stay with a low budget option for now, the 7900gs ko, and then if the price drops much on the 8800 i can do the step up program that evga has and get one...
you would need to reverse engineer the xbox and code a piece of software that emulated the xbox hardware and interpreted the .xbx executable the way an xbox does, it's quite a task, and it would run the game reallly really slowly.
just recently this started happening, basically if i right click on any file, or highlight a file and try to do any type of action like ctrl+c, shift+del, del, etc i get an error that says
now i can still copy the files or delete or whatever, i just have to click OK on that error message...
deathmatch and cs:s are online games, if you disable your network how do you expect to play them?.....and in most cases if you try to play on a lan without updating and the server has been updated then it wont work because the version is different, same for deathmatch and cs:s, but yes you can...
1. go to control panel > system > advanced tab > startup and recovery settings > uncheck "automatically restart"
2. gather bluescreen info
3. .......
4. Profit!
valve sent out the gold packages before the game was released, check halflife2.net forums there are threads about people receiving their gold package via fedex, and those threads predate hl2's rls. and theres no need to call someone a tard, especially when you're the one mistaken.
i still run Nero 6.0.0.11 on WinXP SP2 without problems....and it was a really stupid move to just throw the cd out, like seriously WTF? just download the update.
you have all the data, its a steam bug where if you haven't payed for hl2 it shows 88% even though it's all preloaded, they should be updating steam at some point to fix it.
close steam, delete "counter-strike source shared content.gcf" from ...\Steam\SteamApps\ directory, then reopen steam, it will continue preloading (from like 58%, but it's better than it not preloading at all.
it should work, just make sure they start steam and get any updates there may be before leaving home to attend the lan, then at the lan you can just start without an active internet connection (disabling the network card then starting steam then reenabling the network card is the fastest way...
thats making it seem more complicated than it is, as i said, if you have the game data and it's update all you have to do is start steam without an active connection and it'll prompt you to run in offline mode.
ok, if "a bunch of steps" equals "starting steam without an active internet connection and clicking yes when it asks if you want to run in oflfine mode" then yes, it's a pain in the ass...........
and yes, you can burn backup copies of your .gcf files and then when after you format you just...
open up my computer, goto tools > folder options > view tab > scroll to the bottom of the "advanced settings" box and uncheck "use simple filesharing".
if that doesn't make a sharing tab show up under the folder properties then i dunno where to go from there.
the problem talked about on the screen savers came from the bonus dvd that was packed with the star wars trilogy, if you put the bonus dvd in your xbox it will update your dashboard automatically.
the full battlefront game does not do it.
the screenshot that was on there was not from any official hl2 site, it was from somerandomdomain.com/hl2/index.htm its really hilarious that the screenshot blatantly showed a url which wasn't official yet so amny sites reported on it, haha.
plenty of people are bitching about hl2's multiplayer, also there will be co-op, co-op will be a mod created by the sven coop team. valve and sven announced ages ago that they'd be working on sven co-op 2 after hl2 came out, and it was made clear it would not be included with the game (there was...
maybe if starforce was a trojan, or even a remote admin tool, but it's not.
i'm fairly certain if you asked someone from the EFF about this they would say the same, installing a program != gaining access (unless said program is a backdoor/trojan/remoteadmin util/etc).
i think this whole...
actually he said nothing about being done with the game, maybe You're the one who should be asked if you READ:
why would he ask if it would screw the game up if he was done with the game? why would he say he could play with the cd in the drive if he was done with the game?
it's obvious...
you can burn a backup of the .gcf files and give it to a friend on 56k, if you really wanted to.
of course your friend would need to have a steam account that was entitled to play the game otherwise the gcf is useless to them.
no one is getting dissed, just cancel your preorder, get your money back, and purchase it on steam next week when it's available then you can play cs:s next week.
it's an incentive to people to use steam, and an incentive to VU to hurry their asses up and release the game at retail or else vu...
yes they have announced it, and like i said "Collector's Edition includes Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 1: Source, a Half-Life 2 T-shirt and a Prima book sampler. Ships on a single DVD." from halflife2.net frontpage and hl2fallout
there is no longer a single palyer only game. they were going to do that with sierra but vu killed that idea, now theres the normal version (sp and mp) and the collectors edition (sp, mp, hl:s, t-shirt, book)
december issue is coming out this/next week, the month on the mag never matches the month it comes out, like that Quake4 pcgamer was "november" and it came out like..start-ish of september....
wait, are you trying to get 2 copies of the game? if so, all you need to do is wait for the first copy to come, then make a copy of the cd, and you'll have two working cd-keys and two copies of the cds.....
or just install each copy with a different key, dont even need two copies of the discs...
