Cool. Some repost bot reposted my old FO48U reddit post.
Absolutely no one:
LG: You know what 48" OLED panels need? A matte anti glare coating because g*mers know best.
Nobody asked for this. And yet because I'm stubborn, I'll probably end up getting one out of morbid curiosity.
I found this video that is apparently the LG 48GQ900. That is definitely a matte coating. Who on earth is asking for matte screens on an OLED? I certainly am not.

EDIT: It's now available to buy on LG's website. I would be a brave soul to buy one and test it out, but money is important right now for me.
I couldn't find any threads of this OLED display yet other than the 48CX thread that already exists. If a...
I understand it's personal preference, but you guys would rather have diffused ambient light reflections that ruin contrast over seeing clear mirror reflections without ruining picture quality?
Most people don't leave their laptop lids open all the time. They close them when they aren't being used. Burn in is less of a problem on a laptop compared to a desktop monitor where people are more wreckless about leaving static elements on screen.
That is true. Journalism has certainly made people, including me, believe that the tech is immune to burn in. But it does make sense that any LED will degrade over time.
If MSI manages to make this cheaper than the Alienware, they have a winner. I always thought it was silly to include dedicated G-Sync on a self emissive display that has near instant pixel response. As much as I hear about VRR gamma flicker on OLED, my old BenQ XL2730Z is even worse for VRR...
If it's the same but cheaper without using a G-Sync module, I see no problem. Not expecting availability to be any better once MSI announces an official release date, but I still hope.
Buuuut you still have to deal with the monitor shutting off instead of returning to standby. A power button shouldn't sound like an inconvenience for a monitor, but I really want a true set it and forget it OLED monitor without having to think about it.
What's the final word on how the AW3423DW handles pixel refreshers? Does it return to standby after doing one or does it power off?
I've seen a few comments around Reddit that it powers off after doing a pixel refresh instead of staying in standby.
I think I'm gonna sell my Aorus FO48U and get a LG C2 42. Even though I would prefer to have a display that sleeps and wakes up like a monitor and DisplayPort being open instead of closed off HDMI. LG themselves don't seem interested in bringing a 42 inch variant of an UltraGear monitor when...
