well I don't have anything better than a 1080p 60hz to play on. So its my understanding that the 1080 wouldn't be worth it. But I guess I will be patient and look for a good sale. anything under 400 I would be happy with.
Any particular preference for the brands? I saw a new gigabyte...
a new 1070 ti looks like I would need to spend around 500$. Would it be worth the extra hundred for my needs or just stick with a 1060 6gb? (which are 300ish)
Edit: I stand corrected I am finding 1070ti for under 400 brand new.
Looking to upgrade my r9 290.
Would like to stay under 400$

Ah ic. It just feels like it should work when I start tweaking settings to get the 3200. I am sure someone with more experience in this could get it working. I will probably try it on the 2.4 update or the next one. Hopefully one of these BIOS updates will make it work with just xmp and...
No I took all voltages back to auto and just have cpu at 3800 and RAM is xmp enabled at 2933 with stock timings and auto voltages. I am content with it for now. I will try later on. There is already ya new BIOS out. But I will wait for a few more months. This setup will handle everything I need atm.
Well I have finished me build setup. I am not receiving anymore error readings(after entering OS). I am a first time builder and 1st time OC'r. Yet, I was able to get a successful OC. I cannot get the RAM to 3200+mhz. Due to my lack of experience and the touchy relationship between RAM and...
Everything seems to be running ok. Boots up flawlessly every time. Ram is running at only 2400 but I have not enable XMP or messed with anything in OC tweaker yet. Just running at stock atm.
Maybee I should just disable the Dr. Bug LED or set it to runtime temp setting?
Really irks me tho. I...
It was on the Dr. Bug LED
Well I recreated the 24 on the Dr Bug led,....
Seems when I enable the Onboard Debug Port LED, in the BIOs under the advanced tab\South Bridge Config, I am getting the 24 when I boot to OS. This is disabled by default. This option has 3 settings, Disabled, Enabled...
OK so I swapped the 2 sticks,. A2>B2 B2>A2
And I reset the cmos. Boot to BIOS still shows A6 error while in BIOS. But, upon BOOT to OS there are no more errors:)
I think I have successfully built my first pc:) WooHoo
OK the A6 error shows while in BIOS. But is replaced with 24 error after loading into windows.
I am using 8GB x2 GSkill DDR4-3200 PC4-25600. F4-3200C14D-16GFX
One stick is in DIMM A2 and One is in DImm B2
No I have not encountered any issues so far. Other than the dr Bug showing A6. No I have not started the OS installation nor have I tried any overclocking. I basically just flashed the BIOS after POST and nothing else.
Should I move forward with clearing the CMOS? I have unplugged both SATA...
Just got my new build done and after POST I am seeing an A6 error on the Dr Bug. I have not installed an OS yet. Thr is 1 HDD and 1 dvdr/w. Does anyon hav any xperience with this error?
So far everything seems to be running fine.
Thanks for all the info guys. I'm sure I will start another thread for something. Once I start the actual build. Fyi, I decided I would just buy a new psu and not mess around. I decided on the EVGA supernova GQ 750w. Has a 62.4a 12v rail rating. PSU calculator says I will max load at 42a after...
ok I understand. Thanks.
Ah, yah I looked hard at the gigabyte 370 chipset mobo's. My good friend runs an Intel gigabyte mobo and he has been very pleased.
Well I just have one question left for this thread.
Will a Taichi with a r5 1600 or a 1600x OC'd and gskill flare OC'd be ok with a....

I should probably move this question to another thread. But in case someone...
Thanks Luke....
Sweet, I was able to get one moments ago on Newegg.com
This was out of stock all week.:):)
I saw one go on ebay yesterday for 200 but it also had 50$ in shipping coming from Isreal.

That sounds very doable for me(The OC). I read somewhere else(an above post from Luke) that the gskill flare worked nicely with the Taichi, so I will not mess around there and just get that memory. I have replaced everything or upgraded everything before but I have never actually built a rig...
ok I believe I understand. Too make it through 2-3 years I might have some longevity issues if I OC an x350 with a r5 1600.
Is the BIOS on the Taichi fairly user-friendly? I am not experienced with an OC rig. But, with my extreme gaming tendencies, It seems that I would benefit a lot if I do...
If I OC it will be down the road.
USB bios update seems to be the theme I am reading for the amd am4 rigs.
Prime is running for 150 atm so that's in my range.
THat b350 pro4 is only 90$, but power delivery issues doesn't sound good.
hmm so many options.
I think I am still leaning toward the...
The asus prime x370 pro looks like a nice board. Its got some questionable reviews but I assume most of these are or have been addressed with the BIOS updates.
I will be using this rig primarily for high end gaming. But, I would like to stay around 200$ at most for the mobo.
Any particular...
Hmm, I do have a asrock x370 killer on the wishlist as an option for the tachi wait. The B350 option does sound interesting. I don't rally think I will every SLI or crossfire. I usually upgrade or rebuild every 2-3 years. So, I end up with a new gen rig for awhile or I upgrade and stretch it...
Ok, I am leaning toward an OC platform. I have never bothered with OC. So I am a little hesitant. If I go this route I will more than likely get an Asrock x370 tachi. I will just wait until I can find one to get. So, this brings me to my question. If I get impatient and decide to move forward...
AH ya your right. I guess I can minimize the cost a bit and go with something like Araxia suggested like the ryzon r5 instead of the r7. I would like to keep this under 600$
I will close this thread shortly since I have abandoned the overclocking option. But any suggestions regarding a nw...
Yea a new mobo and cpu seems to be thee better option. This mobo is killing me. So, upgrading the platform and a new cooler(just this?) would make a world of difference for my multithreading gaming? I think my GPU and MEM should be fine. The Corsair CX Series, CX600, 600 Watt (600W) Power...
According to Dell INc. the AMD Phenom II X6 1090t is the highest 6 core they recommend. But they do hint that a better processor could work. I guess my new question is "How good of a processor could I upgrade too?" Also I don't think my bios can handle the FX series such as the 8 core fx8350...
I believe my mobo can handle the 1090t. Well that's the best 6 core AMD that is compatible, according to Dell Inc. My issue, (I think) is that my CPU is bottlenecking and making my GPU under perform.
