You guys are awesome. Looks like I need to test it to see if I need to RMA. Was looking for my purchase receipt and couldn't find it on Amazon or the egg...so need to dig more. It's definitely a 2016 or 2017 model prime.
I dont need to push the OC now or for awhile. I am too busy and old to do...
I have a 5yr old build that I will be updating later this year when new amd chips come out. Have an 1800x and rx480 with 6 HDDs and 2 ssds. Big case.
Scored a 69000XT red devil ultimate for a decent price and will be keeping it air cooled until I do a water loop during tbe rebuild.
I have a...
I just finished settuping up my first pool, and did something similar. I was using refurb 4TB drives though as they're super cheap. I used 4 x 6 Z2 vdevs. I did not use a QNAP nas though, and elected to use an older supermicro server with additional interior/exterior storage. The reasons for...
To follow up, just had another drive die today, but it was a refurb (not a used pull, but s 2018 refurb from amazon) and it failed during burn in. I accumulated 4000 uncorrectable errors over 48 hours, and the drive somehow partitioned itself AND changed device letters in linux. Clearly a bad...
24 Disks, 4 x 6Disk RaidZ2 vdevs, so yes, double parity protection. New hard drives fail as well as old ones, and with a proper burn in (in either case) you can catch a lot of problems early. I've utilized used drives for several years with no problems. My only failure so far as been during burn...
It's still relatively new, but has been in the works for awhile. Hoping it goes smoothly. This is a decent explanation of how it should work.

RIP AMD just when they got going!
Hopefully the Zen team can help turnaround RTG, otherwise things could get bad in a few years. (Full AMD system at home)
Kyle is doing his readers a service by posting this. Do you honestly think he is doing what AMD wants? Read through articles from the past, he calls a spade a spade, no B.S. Many people called bullshit on his RTG article..
How'd that turn out?
Anyone know if Dell branded s3610 1.8" SSDs (for rack servers) could be adapted to work with the hotswap trays in a Poweredge T330? I don't want to spend an arm and leg on Dell certified drives for our startup company, and I can get recertified s3610 for ~$260 for 800GB. My other thought is...
I have a 6 disk setup on my new Ryzen box I'm finally getting around to configuring. Already been running Win10 for about a month now, and just performed a clean wipe in preparation to get everything setup (and because I was breaking things like I normally do with a new OS).
I'd like to perform...
I have to admit, I don't really follow the laptop scene. I hate them. But my wife, and many of her friends won't/can't use anything but laptops.
From what I've seen Ryzen seems very good at low power efficiency. With the anticipated Vega release, I know we are looking at a combined mobile...
What motherboard and ram combination are we looking at? I assume some 2933+mhz sticks? Don't want to make this into a "please use this platform", honestly just curious.
I would like spaceflight similar to what's in The Expanse. Doubt we will even get close in our lifetimes.
As for your question, I'm sure tourists will have to wear a diaper or catheter...
If this is real, and if it's somehow clocked this high, I will be a bit disappointed AMD has kept the lid on for so long. Any 16 core part will likely be out of my price range though but...
Currently running @ 2933 on a single stick, but I may be limited by the gigabyte board. I have a thread under Memory & Mobos where I am updating progress. It's a micron stick, as I could not locate Samsung B-Die ECC UDIMMs. Still trying though!
Got my PC up and running, with 1 stick of Kingston KVR24E17S8/8MA. Easily able to overclock my 1700 to 4.0 @ 1.4v, and the ram to 2933 CL14. Please note I have not benchmarked or run stability tests aside from a single memtest86 pass, so no idea if I'm stable.
Proof:
Unfortunately, it looks...
Hmm, well that's interesting! I still prefer UDIMMs due to latency, but RDIMMs are MUCH cheaper and easier to find.
Likelihood of Mobo's supporting RDIMMs seems small at this point, being that the manufacturers have not listed any RDIMMs on QVL or printed specs. Maybe 6+ months from now, we...
Sadly, the initial Ram I ordered apparently isn't available. Not sure how it's still listed on Ebay, but it is what it is.
Got 1x Micron 2400 ECC UDIMM 8Gb single rank on the way. If it works, I'll pick up more. Already have a few hundred tied up in trying to get an ebay refund, so I didn't...
LOL. For some reason, this reminds me of what I thought security was when I was young. When I was younger, my "security" involved me making a bunch of shortcuts on a floppy drive, and burying programs etc. in a million folders with weird names. I'd pop the disk in the PC, and use the shortcuts...
Well, shit. How do sellers get away with listing products they don't have in stock. This is on both ebay, and memory for less. I paid an ebay seller (very high ratings) and it took me emailed a week+ later before they realized "sorry we don't have this in stock.".
Damnnit. Looks like I cannot...
Dual Rank DDR4 may be difficult to clock that high at this time. Right now Single Rank (8GB sticks) is recommended to get the best results. The same can be said for 2 vs 4 ram sticks.
