Not sure what you mean. Care to elaborate? You can make a bootable backup of your drive using either Carbon Copy Cloner (not free) or SuperDuper! (not free, but the cloning function is free indefinitely). You could, for example, clone your internal drive to the new drive you plan on upgrading...
