What was your first HOLY COW! moment with an actual video card?

Probably the Geforce 256 for me. Was my 3rd ever gpu purchase, after a Diamond Stealth II (yes, one of those intel cards) and then a Diamond Viper v550. The viper died for some reason, so I was at the local computer shop, and the guy was selling a used creative labs geforce 256 on comission for...

Have you ever damaged a CPU due to overclocking?

Oh yeah, killed a couple tbird athlons myself, one b/c the fan that came on the stock HSF went out like a day after I put it all together. New retail boxed CPU. Theres no mistaking the smell from flaming silicon, that's for sure. Kinda killed a P3 733 chip from overclocking. The L2 cache like...

Holy crap, it worked! Dead video card, resurrected!

The other caveat of this "bandage fix" is that a normally repairable item that was fixable is no longer, and the repeated heating degrades otherwise good components. And for one claim that reflowing it a 2nd time made it work longer than the first would be followed by 90 others that said that...

Holy crap, it worked! Dead video card, resurrected!

Yep. It's basically just a bandage solution and not a fix. If you're lucky and your hardware lasts a long time, that's great. Most will not see any lengthy workmanship from this, and if you were to take that laptop and do it again, the next time, it would probably work only for a month or...

Holy crap, it worked! Dead video card, resurrected!

And varying between the lower temps and temps hot enough to melt the solder didn't change these results. Some of them would last a year, some would only last a month. Reballing the latter cards with lead based solder rarely did anything to change this which leads me to believe that it may be...

Holy crap, it worked! Dead video card, resurrected!

I've found that most of the time it isn't the solder, but possibly the interconnects of the flip chip modules because I've heated a few cards a few times well under the temp needed to melt the lead free solder and those cards would usually work again for a time.

I'm more worried about finding something with a DC connector that will fit. Everything I have is either too big or too small.

Bought LG display off ebay, didn't get an AC / DC adapter...

I'm not posting to seek a resolution from eBay, but I need help / ideas on finding a cheap adapter that will work with this. Seller basically said that it was included, but wasn't included on arrival. Seller says he can't find it and offers a "$15 credit towards future purchases from his store*...
