My Titan X Maxwell's are acting up and were feeling a little long in the tooth anyway. As the thread title suggests, I'm on the lookout for a pair of Titan XP's or 1080ti's. Not fussy about brands, but would prefer them to have waterblocks and be in good shape.
Thank you!
EK-CoolStream RAD XT (360) radiator - I love the look of these, but, sadly, this will not fit in my rig. Some minor fin damage in spots.

I don't think it's the best, but Pro Tools is still an industry standard... every studio of note has some kind of setup with it and I regularly get passed PT source files. Beyond that, my experience is that it comes down to personal preferences. If you're not planning on passing files back and...
It looks like the nickel plating is wearing off and the underlying copper is being exposed. Do you have a silver kill coil in the loop by any chance? You don't want to scrub that as it will only pronounce the effect.
I don't think there's a prejudice against pro gear. I've worked in pro audio environments for almost 20 years, and it's universally acknowledged that studio monitors are the professional's tools for the job. It's also true that these same professionals generally do not use monitors as primary...
Wow, the Utopias. Awesome. I love the Focal brand... I had the pleasure of listening to the floorstanders a little while back, and they were mind blowing, with a mind blowing price tag. I gather you're happy with them? I'm currently running with the HD800 and LCD-2, as well as the IE800s. The...
Curious to see what the HD820 brings to the table since there's no info out there at the moment. Headphones have been a pain in my wallet, so it's with both anticipation and trepidation that I wait to hear some impressions on these things. I imagine they will sound great, given Sennheiser's...
I appreciate your understanding of speaker engineering, and, to be honest, a lot of what you just said went completely over my head.
I will say that the lines are heavily blurred these days between professional studio monitors and good consumer speakers. But I come from a music and audio...
I hear you. But, no, muddiness is not what I'm after. Just something that can capture the detail of studio monitors, but a little warmer than neutral... something musical. If the OP is comparing a set of Creative speakers vs studio monitors, I will venture a guess that studio monitors are not...
My point is that studio monitors are by design neutral and revealing. With music files for pure listening, I'd much rather listen to consumer speakers that are optimized for music and quite the opposite of neutral, than professional monitors that will reveal any flaws of source files. Monitors...
Don't get the Mackies, or any studio monitor, for general listening. They're optimized to be as neutral as possible for accuracy in a production environment... in other words, from a general listening standpoint, they intentionally sound like crap. If you're looking for general listening...
It was very surprising when Apple decided to move away from the Pro market, given their dominance in creative agencies worldwide. As a bottom line consideration, it's a given consumer-level goods like iPods, iPhones and Macbook Airs will generate exponentially more revenue, but these moves...
Have you tried Trello? We use it for all our development pipelines. 'Cards' get created under Questions, Change Requests, Bugs/Fixes. Everyone who wants to chime in can, with full support for screenshots and more. Cards get moved back and forth between In Progress to Needs Review, and ultimately...
+1 for the Aquaero. Coupled with the Aquasuite software, it's a great fan controller, even if you don't use most of the bells & whistles they threw in with it.
Running the Noctua iPPC 3000s here as well. 40-50% is definitely the sweet spot for these, from a noise/performance perspective.
I wanted to report some observations so far:
Water temp sensor 1, pre-blocks, and water temp sensor 2, post-blocks, are pretty much the same. Sometimes there is a fluctuation of 0.1C, up to 0.3C at the most). If anyone is thinking of trying this with a single loop, you should only need a single...
Yours is a curious problem. Typically, unbalanced cables are only an issue with really long cable runs -- a generally accepted rule of thumb is unbalanced cables should not exceed 10 feet in length. As the length of the cable increases, the more prone it becomes to outside interference. Some...
It will absolutely help. Onboard audio can be riddled with the noise you're talking about. Bypassing motherboard sound with a sound card, external USB interface, or even USB headphones will eliminate most of the issues you're experiencing.
Another thing to note is that your speakers, as...
I haven't, but it seems pretty cool, especially for free... DVS support, and Traktor and iTunes library imports. Love that it's open source. It seems there's some conversation going on about what the software does to the sound quality of audio files, but that may be limited to earlier versions...
Cool! I like those little controllers. I had an NS7 several years back. Sold it, because I quickly realized lugging around 35 lbs was not gonna happen :). Big fan of your genres too.
Thanks! Measuring the air temp as a baseline completely makes sense. I really appreciate the tip. As timing would have it, I got my sensors (Monsoon) this morning and just got them in the loop.
Sensor 1, at the bottom of my reservoir:
Sensor 2, on the second GPU block, above the outlet...
I'm exploring ways to add Thunderbolt to my rig. My mother board is an Asus X99 Sabertooth, and there is a 5 pin header for Thunderbolt on the motherboard. I see that Asus offers a PCI card, the ThunderboltEX, to add IOs. My question is, do I need a PCI card if the motherboard has a header in...
I don't have any experience with the Dragonfly Black but I've had a Scarlett 2i2 in the past, which should be similar to the Solo you're looking at. Full-featured USB sound interfaces typically sound exponentially better than onboard audio, you can record into them at a high quality, and drive...
Any desktop disc jockeys out there? Would love to hear what you spin and the gear you play on.
In my case, genre-agnostic (though I have a soft spot for progressive house), Traktor Kontrol S4 and a couple of SL-DZ1200s.
And dabble with Serato as well:
Agreed. I will never argue with someone's preference for one brand or another for a given task but, IMHO, nobody has a better fightstick than the TE and TE-2.
It was always a matter of preference, but I felt Mad Catz made the best fightsticks. They just felt right, and they made modding them very simple (at least the high end models). Had a few of their TE models, and still have their Fightstick Alpha, which I picked up when SFV came out and I modded...
Wow. As an old Street Fighter nut, that's pretty shocking. Their fightsticks have been THE standard in fight-game tournaments. Hope they come out of this OK.
