Pre-ordered this, possibly against my better judgement, but it seems more interesting than SF5. Since Bison isn't in it (yet??) I gotta pick a character to run with!
Big fan of the Souls games! Playing them gives me this very unique feeling that I can't recall having ever experienced in another game, where I feel like I'm taking part in a classical myth or an epic (actually, sort of similar to the way Zelda games can make me feel, generally speaking)...
There are a bunch of PS3 games that haven't been ported to newer consoles, so it'd be good for that. You could also jailbreak one. Technically they play blu-ray movie discs but the drives in them are kind of slow.
I still have a slim -- still really like it. I played the Metal Gear Solid HD...
Man, what a good deal. These things were so hard to get just a year ago at like ~$600. Tempted to since it'd still be a moderate upgrade from my 10900k even, but I'm also feeling too lazy to reformat and sell off my stuff haha.
Interesting -- I appreciate your input on it! Honestly I think I've committed to trying the TFX, but if it isn't satisfactory I'll revisit the Carbonaut pads idea. A set-and-forget solution really is very appealing. At the very least I'll look into undervolting to further try and tame the...
I had actually been looking at those a bit ago, and the cooling performance seems kind of strange to me. It looks like they are good at distributing the heat evenly for good core uniformity, but it seems like the temps overall were raised versus paste options, like they were uniformly high... >.>
It is still within warranty, but I got it from the refurb outlet so it only has about 6 months left on it. I think it's technically within spec, so I dunno that anything would come of it if I sent it in other than them possibly replacing the heatsink/fans, or repasting with whatever stuff they...
Wondering what are peoples' experiences here regarding repasting laptops.
I own a Dell G15 5510, with specs:
CPU: Intel i7 10870H
GPU: RTX 3060 mobile
RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz
HD: Stock 500GB NVME
I only recently starting attempting to use it for newer games and actively monitor...
PC has some more game types that it is ideal for, whether it just be due to KB/M as a control scheme or whatever haha. There are MOBAs, strategy games and classic RPG games style like Divinity and Pillars of Eternity. I know consoles can use KB/M inputs, but I don't know what compatibility...
I haven't had those kinds of issues, but my setup and usage are also pretty simple. It's weird that your controller tries to turn on big picture mode in steam...mine just brings up the xbox overlay. For me it makes a ton of sense to game on PC when you already benefit from having a powerful PC...
For me, the mATX form factor does everything that I need for a PC as well. Most functions that you used to need expansion cards for are pretty solid just built onto the board, and SLI/CF is practically done. The only caveats are like the previously mentioned issues with CPU cooler size, the...
Sorry, I didn't mean to come off like a jerk over this. XD I really do like the game quite a bit, and hopefully will have more time to play it a hella lot this weekend.
I didn't claim it was better or worse, but that it simply is there (however, I do think it's a bit annoying). Could be a performance thing, or could be an intentional thing, or just some byproduct of the way the input buffering works in the game. Wouldn't be their first mistake if it is one...
Didn't Sekiro have hold B to run also (also previous Souls games)? I never felt delay like this with that game. In the second vid I linked to, the guy even times the Elden Ring B input against a dash in Sekiro and the Sekiro input is instantaneous.
It's not as soon as the button releases though; it really is delayed just a bit. You can tell in the second video for sure, but even in the last one when the sound hits for the button release, there is a slight delay for when the character actually initiates the roll. My math could be wrong, but...
Here are some vids to illustrate what I was referring to regarding the delay in the game. It's not huge, but I can feel it. Not trying to dog the game too much because I do genuinely quite enjoy it, but I know I wasn't just imagining this. I think it may have existed in previous souls games to a...
I experience a bit of delay too, not sure if it's actual input delay or just like the way the game is supposed to be, but I don't like it. It feels less responsive than DS3 or Sekiro. Usually not an issue, but in some boss fights it can mean the difference between getting a successful dodge or...
I think I'm like 30% through the game maybe, but yeah the bosses feel similar to DS3 in terms of difficulty and how dynamic/aggressive they are, leaning more toward the second half of DS3 boss behavior. There are definitely some easy ones though, and some that appear to have been inspired by Sekiro.
Right there with you lol, I was looking at the Elite controllers today. The auto-follow camera bothers me some, too, but mostly when I'm riding Torrent and looking around; it tries to immediately & aggressively return to zero after letting off the camera stick.
The gpu power required to play games on that 38" is similar to running games at 4k, so you could always look at 4k benchmarks for games that you like to get an idea of the performance.
You don't lose vertical space with an ultrawide when compared to a 16:9 monitor of the same vertical resolution, you just get +horizontal space. I feel like this is a misconception because we're so used to 16:9 that an ultrawide can feel squished, but it's really not. Technically a 34 ultrawide...
Considering doing a respec on my build to lean more into using strength with faith or magic -- right now I'm just a full on muscle-head. Is faith needed for fire spells in this game? I notice it is needed to perform the dragon communion spells at least.
Somebody else mentioned to me that the equip load has to do with it also, so I'll try lowering it next time I am able to play. Kind of a bummer, since I'd like to be able to play with medium-heavy armor, but the way it is now even with a medium load I can't reliably dodge on reaction. On some...
Beat Margit last night as a straight up melee with no summons/spirits. Jesus, that was hard. I'm going to have to put more stock into at least using spirit summons from now on >< and if I hadn't beaten him last night, I was going to do that for his fight anyway. Also it's weird, but I feel like...
It ran great last night except I did have a full-on crash while I was in combat haha. Very strange. I've beaten two real bosses so far, and they have both been hella aggressive!
Honestly my game has been running really well today. Stuttered a little bit when I started, but for about an hour or so I haven't noticed any so far. I'm playing Hero, which is basically just a str/barbarian lol. May start over or just start putting stats in other stuff -- I feel like I may be...
Was only able to play for about an hour last night, but it seems fun so far. I did experience some stutters or dips in FPS here and there, running on a 10900K with an RTX 3080 and 32GB RAM, but it wasn't awful. Hopefully it gets fixed up soon!
Logos are a pretty big deal for marketing purposes! It can fully prime someones expectations about a product. I mean if the game is really good regardless it can overcome stuff like that, but it really is a trash logo though lol. I can see what they are going for, like being inside a hexagon...
I'm curious about it -- one thing I hope they do is open up the combo paths more. In an effort to simplify the game for SFV, the combo paths were shortened so the amount of options for what your character could do and when were very linear. That's one reason the game felt so dull to watch after...
