No idea where they are at nowadays, but I will vouch for their memory.
My current rig is 7 years old, still running one of their 2 GB sticks from the 4 GB 996599 set, those were the Mushkin Enhanced Blackline kits like this one here. The second one got fried out by a lightning strike this...
OP, I bought & returned two modern IPS monitors and then bought a used SM226BW for like $40. I figured, if I'm gonna get crap, at least I won't be paying much money. I'm satisfied with my decision for now :) And the SM226 is not a bad monitor at all, this is my second one.
I liked the newer Operation Flashpoint games, Dragon Rising and Red River, even though most people didn't. Though, I played co-op with friends so that's probably why I had that much fun with them.
Well, I know I have an old PC, but this seems terribly optimized, because even on low I get awful stuttering, I couldn't even get the race to start on any higher settings. The game just stood there.
The sound seems to have been an afterthought as well. Burnout Paradise had better bike sounds...
Isn't the polarizer what causes the whole viewing angle issue on LCDs?
OLED doesn't use one so I don't see why the LEDs would have any viewing angle problem.
Sounds like you did an image restore, that's a good idea.
However, that feature isn't perfect, so the color still might be off. If you have bias/gain settings somewhere in the monitor's menu I'm betting if you put some time into it you can get it to track nearly perfectly with neutral grey's...
I used to be very anti LCD but I bought an ASUS PB248Q a year ago. I thought - what a nice display, IPS has really come far. The colors were great, I didn't even mind the 60 Hz refresh rate, it was 1920x1200, would have been totally happy with it. But then - that nasty IPS glow in the bottom...
Despite what most people here say I actually liked the monitor more with the AG on, it was usable in a wider range of ambient lighting and the tube did not immediately become washed out the moment you let any light into the room.
Needless to say I'm sorry for your loss, as there is no going...
Because despite being in the minority, there are (thankfully) still people who appreciate the most important aspects of image quality that LCD has so nonchalantly dumped in favor of thinness, light weight and size.
You know, there's a comment I read some 4 or 5 years ago on a YouTube video...
Basically, 15 years ago if you shelled out enough money you got a decent monitor which could last 10 years with minor repairs, and wouldn't have much to fault it for.
Not the case today. It's compromise after compromise. Panel lottery. Bad design overall. Skimping on parts. Why don't they use...
DayZ failed, in my opinion.
The mod brought on the hype, and stirred up the desire for a good multiplayer zombie survival game.
The standalone left that craving wholly unsatisfied. I'm happy there's another game to step up to the place, hopefully.
Dean Hall might've had good ideas, but he...
Ah, yeah, I have a few apps that just flat out refuse to run regardless of compatibility mode, one game will report that it cannot find a graphics adapter, hah (this happens on all x64 operating systems).
Though, I haven't tried XP mode. I might do that.
In all honesty I'm probably going to...
The XP installation is really only for playing older games and such and will be used maybe a few hours a week, it doesn't need internet access. But the PS2 in the other room runs games from my hard drive via SMB so I still need network access.
Your solution seems to work fine thus far. The...
I run Windows 7 as my main OS. However, I still keep an installation of XP on a small 30 GB partition which I boot up every now and then to play an older game or run some old software.
I would like to isolate the XP installation from the internet, and only allow it access to computers on the...
Dream big people.
I don't care what tech it is as long as it:
-can display true black, with accurate grayscale tracking and gamma
-has no viewing angle, uniformity or 'glow' issues
-silent (sometimes monitors are noisy and that gets annoying fast)
-sold with anti-glare and glossy options
-16:10...
I've only played MGS1, 2 and 3.
The last one I finished was 3, on the PS2. And I liked it very much so. Perhaps not enough to rank it higher than MGS1, but it's close. 2 I did not enjoy so much.
The new ones seem to have deviated quite a bit from the classic gameplay. Everything after 4 seems...
THIS.
Give us American wages and we'll pay your prices.
Let's do the math. The average monthly income where I live is (and I'm being generous) around 560 dollars.
The average American monthly income according to what I could find online was around 3700 USD?
And a game costs 40-50 USD for...
I'd hope this one is better because I had the PB248Q and returned it - due to annoying corner glow. Though maybe all IPS are like that. In that case, I shouldn't bother looking at this one either.
