Hi all,
I have a well specced gaming rig in my office (in the attic) but I also have a Lenovo TS140 Thinkserver that currently just runs Windows 10 and serves movies via Plex. I am planning to move this to the dining room so my OH can use it to surf the net etc...
However, I would like to play...
Hi,
Not sure if this is in the right place but here goes :
I have just aquired a Lenovo TS140 server with the following spec :
Quad core Intel Xeon E3 v3 E3-1226V3 - 3.3 GHz
16Gb DDR3
128gb SSD Samsung EVO 850
1.5tb HDD & 500gb HDD
It's sole use will be as a Plex Server and it will be...
Took delivery of 2 BL3200PT's - Both are perfect. No dead or bright pixels. No vertical banding (at least none that I notice) - No flashing issue.
Mfg date is Jan 2015 and they were supplied by Amazon UK.
Pretty awesome monitors and the BenQ DisplayPilot software is cool (if a little...
There are a few off white pixels and they aren't noticeable like you say banabooey. But there is one jet black one right in the middle horizontally and a few centimetres from the top. Really annoying.
The cards I ended up with Mr mean are evga 980 superclocked and they seem great.
Thanks for all the advice and tips guys :)
Everything is installed and running super smooth.
The U3014 has one dead pixel unfortunately - It was second hand and the seller has kindly given me the option of returning it.
If I do, then my only options really are to purchase a new U3014...
I decided to go with the U3014 and ordered a second EVGA 980GTX SC anyway just to make sure :) Hopefully the 2 980's in SLI will keep me going for a while!
I was look at either a HP ZR30w or a Dell U3014 - both second hand but in perfect condition.
The other I was look at (brand new) is a : BenQ BL3200PT
I currently have a Dell 2709W.
Hi. My rig is a 5820k oc'd to 4.2ghz with 16gb ram, 1tb ssd and 980gtx (evga sc).
At the moment I game at 1920x1200 at ultra/Max with great fps but have been offered a new monitor that runs at 2560x1600 (16:10). Just wondered what will happen to my fps if I move to this resolution (or even...
That's great to know - cheers :)
I thought it was OK as I run Crysis 3 at 1920x1200 on max settings and the temps only sort of break 50's. (EVGA gtx-980SC and 16Gb DDR4 Corsair Vengance)
Just wondering if any watercooling experts could give me some advice please :
I have a 5820k OC'd to 4375Mhz.
Motherboard is an Asus X-99A.
Cooling is a Corsair H100
All of this is a Scan 3XS X99 Carbon System overclocked by Scan.
Cpu Core Voltage is 1.280V
Cpu Cache Voltage is...
Good points :)
However, I have just thought of another scenario :
I don't really need a secondary drive inside the PC for archiving - I have a 4tb external usb3/esata drive for that.
So, perhaps I could NOT put any secondary drive in and, instead, get rid of the Samsung 512Gb 850 Evo...
Hi,
I am just about to get a new PC (5820k @ 4.4Ghz/GTX 980/16Gb DDR4).
The primary boot/OS drive (win 7) will be a Samsung Evo Pro 512Gb. This will host my opsys and all my applications (Photoshop etc...)
I want a secondary mechanical drive to store all my games and I am trying to...
Thanks charold for the clarification :) Much appreciated. I'm not really worried about power usage BUT noise could be a factor ????
rive22 the cost difference is about £250 but it doesn't matter at all as it is a company purchase and we offset it against tax anyway. I am tending to agree on...
Thanks charold - that's given me some confidence on the 5820k for my work needs - now... what about gaming ? :)
I'm not following you though on this : " The 4790k overclocked would definitely be faster, let alone that i7-5820k."
So are you recommending the 4790K or the 5820k ?
Hi all,
I am about to buy a new system and I am torn between 2 specs and wondered if you have any advice please ?
I am based in the UK and my budget is £1700-£2100 including tax and shipping.
I will be buying every single part APART form keyboard/mice and monitors.
I run two monitors...
Just seeking a bit of advice please :
My current system is a Dell Studio 1749 with the following spec :
Core I5 M540 @ 2.54Ghz
8Gb RAM
