Just returned this after discovering the 6290 model does not have HDR or game mode support making it unusable due to high response time.
Also the display quality is poor and there was a blue menu that kept flickering randomly.
Get a dell or phillips IPS monitor instead.
Due to the width limitation of the Ikea Fredde desk, the maximum triple monitor setup that could fit would be 3 x 22" monitors.
Another configuration that could fit would be 24" 1920x1200 w/ 2x 19.5" 1080's on either side
I do not care much for infinity, the bezels would be too bothersome for...
Does anyone know the difference between the Samsung UN48JU6700 & 6800 ?
Only $100 price difference.

Has anyone tried 40" and a 48"? Is the extra real estate worth it?
4x20" monitors still seems like it would give a good amount of screen space for multi tasking with 4 windows. Also with 40" you would not have to turn your head as much.
4x24" monitor array is tempting but it seems fairly...
That is a good point, but its still a big high for me. Any idea if Samsung tvs get big reductions on Black Friday?
Another thing I like about the curve is that the stand can be removed when placing it on the desk for optimal sitting height.
By the way, what is one connect box?
I know this thread is about Samsungs but it turns out I was looking at US prices when I decided on the 48" JU7500, Canadian price is over $2000. 6700 is $1700 CND
So can anyone vouch for why they would pay the extra compared to a Wasabi Mango UHD 48" $800 - $1000 depending on pixel perfect or...
I am planning to use the rig with a 48-55" 4K monitor and I don't plan on buying two GPU's since I will probably go with a 950-960 and then upgrade when HBM V2 releases next year and a single card will do 4K 60fps+
The case I am eyeing is Corsair 380T since IMO it has best ventilation &...
DDR4 does not seem to be worth the extra cost at the moment so I would prefer to use 16GB DDR3 though there are currently no socket 1151 itx motherboards in North Amercia that support DDR3.
I would consider Haswell but Skylake just came on the market and has 2-4 years of upgrades/refreshes...
Hey guys,
I am thinking about picking up a 48" or 50" JU7500 for desktop use from about 3 feet away.
Can some owners please recommend this or not? Is the PWM really an issue with this? Does 100% Brightness fix the PWM?
Has anyone tried flat & curve? Is the curve really worth it?
Also, 55"...
Just checked out an OLED which looks the best by far, though 55" is too big for comfort IMO. I found curved 48" to be optimal for under 3 feet.
The only thing is that the only curves at 48 are from samsung which have PWM, can motion blur be turned off completely on these tvs?
55 could fit on the desk if the stand is in the middle, though the edges of the tv would be protruding a bit.
Is OLED noticeably better picture quality besides the deeper blacks? I just checked out a 48" samsung curved panel and a 49" IPS and was more impressed by the samsung, though to be...
Would a 50" have a significant difference in PPI from a 48"? There seems to be more TV's @ 50".
I am currently using a 27" 1080p which would be around the same PPI as a 55", however 55" is too big for my desk or else I would probably go for since it has more options than 50 (OLED, etc).
rtings just confirmed this by updating the review :):
Looks like Sony is the best choice here, except for the lack of FreeSync. Any other issues with the Sony that should be considered?
If this was for living room I would certainly go larger but as I said this is for desktop use in which I am trying to simulate 4 24" 1080p monitors and 48" 4K does this perfectly, however most of the available displays seem to have issues. So far the Sony seems like the best except for the...
LOL Candyland, yes I agree HDR definitely gets overdone alot. Though if its done well it looks good.
And yes I read that same review already, it seems they must have not set the tv to PC mode or else they would not get 60hz according to the manual. But than whats the point of PC mode?
The Sony looks great except that if you check the manual it says "HDMI PC Input Format" only supports up to "3840x2160@30Hz".

By the way, I think the LG has a similar problem with PC mode, it says horizontal refresh rate is 67.5hz and...
Intel is planning on implementing 3DXPoint differently from Micron who will likely have variants of it for PCIe 4.0 (due in 2017). However when PCIe 5.0 comes around it will likely have a completely different architecture from 4.0 (not going to be backwards compatible) and its likely we will see...
In short, 3D XPoint is essentially a DIMM slot SSD that performs at DDR4 speed. So fast that there is no need for actual RAM in a system and it doesn't wear out like flash ram.
some features:
same read write speeds
non-volatile (can store data when powered off)
cheaper than DRAM, more...
Can anyone who has tried both resolutions tell about their experience with them and which they would choose and why? I have tried Dell U2913WM and a 27" 1080p and so far prefer the 27 inch because of the extra height.
A 34" ultra wide monitor is about the same height as a 27" monitor plus 8...
this is the power supply for the itx pc (which uses about 115w - under max load):
http://www.mini-box.com/picoPSU-160-XT-192W-Adapter-Power-Kit
this is the power supply for the monitor which uses a maximum of 35w:
AC 100 V–240 V, 50/60 Hz, DC 19 V...
I'd like to have 1 power cable powering my pc which requires about 100W and my monitor which requires about 40W from a 150W adapter.
Do splitter cables split the voltage up? or would both devices be getting 150W input...
I am now considering the LG 29EA93 or the LG 27EA83, both come with LGs split screen software (supports both windows and osx) which would definitely be good for multi-tasking, especially the 29" because the extra width. However there is a very good split screen app for windows and mac called...
I guess it depends on whether the game supports eyefinity or nvidia surround? Though I would probably just use the 30" for gaming while using the other 2 monitors for other apps while playing since I don't think I could ever get used to the bezels while playing, atleast for an fps anyway.
So I'm finally ready to pull the trigger on a U3011 (which has just being replaced by the U3014) and later down the road I would like to add two 2007FP on either side however it looks like dell is starting to phase out the 20" ultrasharps which might not be available by the time I can afford...
lol ya I tried posting it on ikeahackers twice but i guess the instructions were too complicated or something. Anyway I'm glad I posted here where it can be appreciated by other workstation enthusiasts.
Thank You, hopefully it will inspire some more unique workstations for the 2013 thread...

Would it be possible to setup something like this:

with 4 of these: http://optomausa.com/products/detail/GT750E
x1 = 1280 x 800 720p 16:10 WXGA
x4 = 2560 x 1600 16:10 WQXGA
On a 70" 120 degree FOV curved 16:10 rear...
The main reason I would do a PLP over an LLL is so that I could have one large screen for gaming (I don't think I could get used to the bezels for eyefinity) or the main application I am using. not too mention LLL would be well out of my FOV.
I was using two 24" monitors in LL and started to...
@Bratman - Yes...In Splinter Cell Conviction ;)
By the time I save up for enough for an Ultrasharp 20-30-20 I will probably just go for a 46" 4K screen that can be divided into 4 24" 1080p screens for multitasking.
