You sure about that? That the smart video enhance set to ON is causing the scan line issue?
I read through the link previously and no where does it state that the smart video enhance is causing the scan line issue.
What Rev A02 does is to set Smart Video Enhance mode to Off as a default instead the current On mode (which you can still manually turn off by the way).
And where did you read that Smart Video Enhance is causing the scan line issues?
Not all A01s have the scan line issue.
Can't tell how bad it really is from the photo due to the ISO settings being bumped up..
If you decide to get it changed, you'll probably need to provide Dell with a better photo to show why an exchange is warranted.
Thanks :) Love the amount of screen space I have now.
haha, that's the goal.. which is why there's another monitor stand prepared on the right ;)
Will get number 3 some time in the future. Probably wait for the next Rev first so that I can compare.
Thanks :)
Am using the DisplayPort...
Thought I'll provide another update..
So, I got myself another U3014 after selling off my U3011 :D
As the Dell provided miniDP to DP cable is quite short (1.8m), I bought a 2m DP to DP cable and used the DP to miniDP adapter that came with my MSI 7950.
Turns out the U3014 is rather sensitive...
That's one of the things I noticed when I got my monitor because the lower left portion is where the icons are usually. Thought there were some faint horizontal lines, so I took a closer look and also noticed the vertical ones as well, which kinda makes sense since it's a matrix/grid of pixels...
Whether the computer goes to sleep or whether the computer turns off the display (monitor goes to sleep). They both have the same effect of making the monitor go into standby(sleep) mode.
The time taken for the monitor to display something from standby mode is a couple of seconds at most.
First, you asked about how long it took to turn for the monitor to turn on after psychically pressing the power button (which obviously takes some time before anything is displayed).
Then you compare that timing with waking a monitor from sleep mode (which I am assuming you are talking about...
It's definitely not at the same level of "clearness" as you would get on a glossy screen.
I never really found the AG on the 3011 to be a huge issue for me, the AG on the 3014 is a noticeable improvement if you read a lot of text.
Considering how much you disliked the AG on the 3011, you are...
Just doubled checked, what you observed is correct.
What I noticed is that the last 3 sets of digits in the serial number on the report matches only the last 3 sets of digits in the serial number on the monitor and box.
Only realised this after I looked carefully at the serial numbers, only...
I have no problems using the U3014 for reading text for that amount of time. Breaks in between for your eyes are of course advisable.
It also depends on what monitor you are currently using as that would form the basis of your personal benchmark.
For me, coming from a Dell 2407-HC to a Dell...
Yup, I find that the color temperature of 7500 is the closest setting to real whites too.
The sensitivity of all the buttons seem to be the same. I think one possible explanation for what you are experiencing could be due to the angle at which your index finger touches the bottom button...
Yup, although I had to send back the replacement as it was actually worse than the one I had.
Seems that chances of a yellow tint are higher on LG LCDs. Same thing for the iPhone LCDs, ever since they sourced their LCDs from LG, there have been many reports of yellow-ish tint from iPhone owners.
When both screens are off, the U3014 is a lot more reflective when viewed from the side.
For example, on the U3011, from the side, you will see a blurred patch of light source, whereas on the U3014, you can make out the lamp (vaguely) where the light is coming from.
When the display is in use...
Thanks for sharing :)
Reading text on this screen is awesome.
With regards to point 2, I think that's something that you can probably manually turn off in the OSD.
I turned off the smart video enhance function as it was quite annoying to see the function kicking in and out when playing videos...
Well, with the U3014, I do not feel any heat on my face (I sit about 50-60cm away from the monitor) after extended usage. With the U3011, I feel some warmth after sitting in front of it after an extended period of time.
Coming from a tropical country, less heat is good. If I were to stay...
What you say about getting a calibrator is very true, in fact, I did look up the X-Rite Pro calibrator on Amazon as I was contemplating getting one, but at $245 USD a pop, I'll probably toy with that idea for a while longer. Besides, how often am I going to use a calibrator?
Between spending...
Thanks to the advice of fellow Hardforummer, Rev0, the MST capability of my U3014 is now working!
What we did was to uninstall the current Catalyst Software Suite in my PC, reboot, install Catalyst Software Suite version 13.3 Beta and the MST hub within the U3014 was detected.
MST + eyefinity...
Well, the thunderbolt cable didn't work... not sure if it should work as it caused my PC to hang.
Here's what I got from http://www.displayport.org/faq/:
Q: Where can I buy a DP 1.2 cable? Most of the cables are certified to DP 1.1a.
A: The DisplayPort version 1.2 standard was designed to...
I see... thanks for the info xoleras! Glad to know that it's probably more to do with the DP cable than the monitor itself.
Which reminds me... Actually, I do have an Apple thunderbolt cable! Gonna give it a try now....
Decided to have another go at the built-in MST hub in the U3014 and despite enabling DP 1.2 on the monitor, AMD Catalyst Control Center doesn't detect the Multi-Stream Transport (MST) capability.
Under "My Digital Flat-Panels"->"Properties (Digital Flat-Panel)", Multi-stream transport capable...
So, now that I've had more time with the U3014 and U3011, I noticed that white backgrounds on the U3014 definitely seem a little more yellow compared to the U3011...
U3011 | U3014
I decided to call up Dell to send a replacement U3014... so in the meantime, I have 2 U3014s and 1 U3011...
the...
Not sure how that is going to be possible...
I once had a Dell monitor with a missing Dell logo on the bezel, called Dell to send me a replacement logo but they couldn't do it. They had to replace the entire monitor.
The U2711 and U2410 power button is unlikely to fit as they will be different...
:)
Haven't had time to game yet unfortunately...
Movie performance is alright. Didn't notice anything bad when watching videos full screen. Have turned off the Smart Video Enhance feature on the U3014 as it changes the color settings over a video playback in windowed mode. Didn't like that...
