How solid does the case feel without a dedicated HDD cage up front? Just curious as I have had several cases that would flex and bend with sections removed.
The added expense and maintenance required for a custom loop is somewhat prohibitive to the user who upgrades or exchanges hardware regularly. I usually upgrade processors and GPUs every year and the added cost of blocks can quickly add up. I have found that even though custom loops offer...
Sweet jeebus! Finally a reason to try out some Noctua products. Personally couldn't stand the brown color scheme and wished for a black or gray redux for some of the previously released products.
Seriously doubt vram limitations for 1080p will be an issue in the immediate future of pc gaming. Even if there was an enormous spike of software using more than 2GB after the next gen consoles are released, optimization takes months to streamline so by the time vram does become relevant you...
Is the OC headroom for the 8350 better than for the 8150? Bought a bulldozer at launch and was very dissapointed in the performance, but I am seeing a major difference in reviews of the 8350 vs bulldozer.
I still do not understand why people complain or scoff at single GPUs vs dual cards like the 690 and 7990. These comparisons are not apples to apples, but price catagory to price catagory. The reviewers are doing what any person would do and comparing products that fall into the same budget...
I second a 7970 with a non blower type cooling solution. At stock clocks the blower is fine, but when OC'ed to 1150/1575 I had to load a custom fan profile into afterburner. It actually sounded like a 747 jet engine beside my head. Just make sure to have decent airflow inside your case and go...
Looks like another situation where the designers create a cool design without first consulting someone with common sense. Two heatpipes that don't even touch the cpu? I am suprised at how something like that could have made it through quality control. Temps looked pretty good but for the...
Hopefully the mini itx and mATX markets will pick up with air coolers designed to complement these small form factors. This is a niche market which is just begging to be explored by manufactures and provide end users high performance air cooling solutions to impliment in small performace systems.
Well performance wise for 1080p they will both offer quite nice frame rates. It really boils down to if you want the nvidia fxaa and some other features or if you would rather avoid dual card problems and go with the single 7970. Personally I have had no problems with multi card setups but...
Let us stop making completely subjective "I like x vs x video card brand based on complete nonsense" threads please. Apple to orange comparisons are useless and provide no real insight or positive momentum. Last gen tech will always be somewhat inferior to the newest editions...
Like skyrim, gw2 relies heavily upon the processing power whatever rig is playing it. You would probably see a better performance increase by upgrading the processor before thinking of upgrading your gpu.
While the 460 is a great card, vram limitations may hamper you playing newer games. If the 660 isn't released in the next week or so, I would suggest the 7850 or even hunting for a great deal on a 7870 if you can find one. Less power useage and better performance imo.
Have to agree about the higher than average power useage on those charts. I haven't seen close to those numbers with an oc'ed 8150 running 4.6 ghz even during stress tests.
Honestly I wasn't expecting too much from the H100. After installing and recording some temps, I was pleasently suprised at the capacity to keep my oc'ed fx 8120 from melting into a pile of scrap. Great job Corsair!
A 670 would def handle that resolution. Don't be afraid of amd however, the 7950 offers a slight edge in performance for around the same price. If you are into overclocking, the amd side has always performed excellently for me.
Very true about the coping saw being the best route for ya. If that possibility isn't an option, than a round file would probably be best. Might take longer, but you wont have to worry about chipping and cracking with a high rpm cutoff tool.
I agree with the suggestion for a 7950, pref used if you can find one. The differences between models are slight at best until you step up from the 7870 to the 7950. In my humble opinion the best bang for buck deal for ya.
