Hi guys,
Now that gpus are useless for mining, I've been considering converting one or two of my rigs for folding and or crunching. I'd probably dedicate two rigs, one with 7 R9 290s running SP work, and one with 7 7970s running DP work.
Thing is, all of the cards are connected using USB...
Hi guys,
I'm in the process of moving all my folding and litecoin mining rigs to the garage as I can't stand the heat and noise generated by them during the warm summer months that are quickly approaching. I've got plenty of 120v outlets in the garage to run them, but I can easily add 240v...
Because big numbers sell to people who don't know any better.
8x is plenty for today's card. In a few generations 16x might prove beneficial, but not now.
Thanks musky, appreciate the info.
Unfortunately SM won't waive the restocking fee so I'll be sticking with my HQ8Gi-F as it would cost me about 300$ all in all to make the switch.
Just opened up the package, wow is the board ever huge!
Here are a few pictures, along with some...
Hi guys,
This thread is a continuation of http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1741680 this thread. Wanted to start my own to avoid more thread jacking of brilong's thread.
Well, here goes. I just received an H8QGi-F-O from Wiredzone. It's come to my attention through the above...
Ohhh really now? That's quite interesting! Sounds like I'd be willing to pay a little extra for that. Would f@h support that? I'm all of a sudden thinking about 8P possibilities! Would f@h support such a setup? Or is 2x 4P the way to go?
Annnnnnnnnnnd... I'm back to second guessing myself lol...
Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I don't even know what a HT slot is lol. Just received my H8QGi-F-O from FedEx. So tempted to open it! But I'm waiting for a reply from wiredzone to see if I can exchange.
brilong, I'd also advise wiredzone instead of ebay. I ordered my board on the 23rd...
I don't see myself needing any PCIe slots on this board as like I said it will only be folding. What concerns me most is stability and overclocking potential, especially when I upgrade to more power hungry chips. Definitely thinking I should make the switch and possibly pick up some VRM...
Thanks for the info guys. It bothers me that I didn't order the best, especially considering they're about the same price. I only considered socket placement while impulse buying the board this week. I'm going to contact wiredzone to ask about an exchange.
Is there a particular GL series...
Seriously?! I just bought a H8QGi-F that should be arriving tomorrow from wiredzone. Should I return it for a GL board?
Will be running 4x 6128 but will eventually upgrade.
You need it to be faster for what purposes exactly?
In my opinion, pick up a SATA 3 SSD and Windows 7. You'll be amazed at the speed that an SSD can breath into most any system. If you're still not happy with it, you can move both to an entirely new system.
Do you play games? If not, the...
Funny guy!
I'm leaning towards using the P5E for the Q6600.
I'm having difficulty running 500FSB stable on the Rex with my Q9550. Is that the quad's fault? Or am I missing something? Ram on the Rex is Hyper X 1600MHz. I had a hell of a hard time getting 500FSB on my UD3R back in the day.
Another question, though less important. I've got another Q9650 folding 24/7 on a Gigabyte EP45-UD3R. Would I be better off using whichever of these three boards I have left over? Maybe I could squeeze a few more MHz out of her. It's currently running at 4.1 GHz if memory serves.
Hi guys,
Recently had some 775 goodness fall into my lap. 3 boards, and 2 CPUs.
CPUs: Q9550 and a Q6600 G0
Motherboards: Rampage Extreme (X48 DDR3), Maximus Formula (X38 DDR2), and a P5E Deluxe (X48 DDR2)
I'll be setting 2 of these up as full time folders, and I can't decide which board to...
