USB headers? I also have a FT03 (Titanium) and an ASUS Maximus V Gene. I use this USB3.0 adapter from Bitfenix and rerouted the USB3.0 cables for the Front-USB3.0-Ports along the side and back of the motherboard, so they are not visible from the outside at all. The Bitfenix adaptor is just the...
Foot print FT03: 667.4 cm²
Foot print V354: 1029.0 cm²
Clear advantage for the FT03 I would say ;) I also have it standing on my desk and I am amazed how much more space I now have (especially compared to my old 17" notebook which I was using as an desktop replacement before)
OK, everything built in and up and ready.
CPU: i5 3750K
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 (bought together with the NM-I3 mounting kit for LGA1155 to get PWM versions of the two fans; I have only the NF-P14 installed which runs in idle mode at 300 rpm :))
Mainboard: Asus Maxmus V Gene
VGA: AMD...
Yeah, the fan filter is hold in place by magnets. Btw, funny story (and I definitely read about it before, just don't know whether it was in this forum: I had my case taken apart and all the parts scattered on the floor in my living room yesterday. The living room is facing south and as the sun...
Can't say anything about rattling yet, but at least they shipped the PSU today.
But I noticed that Silverstone improved something: There were complaints in several forums about blank/open contacts at the internal power socket. In my Titanium version they added an additional layer of isolating...
My FT03T arrived today. Unfortunately I still have to wait for the PSU (wenn for a BeQuiet Straight Power) so I have to see when I will have it completely up and running.
Hello RAJA!
Thanks for your presence here.
Is the Fan Xpert 2 Suite only available for the Maximus V Gene or can I also use it for the other Z77 MoBos like the P8Z77-M [Pro]?
And is there any overview available which an tell me the differences between the Fan Xpert2 and the Fan Xpert+ versions?
What are you going to use the system for? Gaming? If not: Have a look at http://www.streacom.com/, they have some nice slim-line HTPC µATX cases like the FC5.
@techrat: Nice compilation of images you picked :)
@davewolfs: Overclocking intended? If not: Something like a Noctua NH-D14 should be able to deal with an idle CPU at very low fan speeds.
I am waiting for the 29. and will order either a 3570K or 3770K and cool them with the Noctua. I am excited...
Nae bother. Would definitely go for the MSI; the quote from the guy from one of my previous posts also seems to favour the TwinFrozr over the DirectCU. Should be quite a nice rig you will have :)
Looks like these these for cards are the only ones with 2x DVI connectors:
http://skinflint.co.uk/?cat=gra16_512&xf=1440_HD+7970~135_2x+DVI#xf_top
Only the MSI and the ASUS are OCed. And the MSI seems to have a cooler compatible with the FT03 (as it runs across the VGA.
This is a quote from a guy answering to a MSI HD 6950 TwinFrozr review:
However, as he didn't check the differences upon changing the orientation is just shows that other coolers might run cooler in a Fortress case.
However, in this review somebody is actually testing DirectCu coolers in a...
Meh, the X-400/460 PSUs are basically 500-600W PSU with a lower watt label. And the 200W at peak are nearly within the range of load at which the semi-passive X-560 would run passively anyway. I will just give it a go. If the PSU dies it will be my (expensive) fault but I am trusting the safety...
Oh, you are Danish. When looking whether it is feasible to install the Seasonic X-400/460 in the FT03 I stumbled upon this thread: http://www.sweclockers.com/galleri/7814-ft03-d14-gene-z-seasonic-x460fanless-sant The Danish people I know are capable of reading/speaking Swedish so maybe you can...
The Alpenföhn Peter looks like one of the typical GPU cooling solutions, that will not be compatible with the 90° design of the Fortress/Raven series cases. I am pretty sure I heard people complaining about the cooler not working in the Fortress FT02.
Re the fans: It's quite interesting to have...
@DrRetina: Thanks for the answer. I was going to go for a 3770K as well, but was going to get a reference design HD 7770 and supply it with a nice Arctic Accelero S1 PLUS. I don't need that much gaming power, so the 7770 should be more than enough and according to Arctic it should be able to...
@R3MF: Looks like the right part (as shown in the link) of the heatsink will have problems, whereas the left one should work fine. Thus I would try to find another model.
@all: Just wondering: As the Thermalright HR02 Macho and the Noctua NH-D14 often seem to perform equally well in a...
The card was just released yesterday. I think that I will take some time till all the alternative designs are showing up.
But yeah, I would also love to see a low profile 7750 :)
Shouldn't be that much bigger than 20 litres. This case should end up somewhere around 20-25 L (assuming approx. 22*30*35 cm dimensions)

Looks really interesting.
sign.
It's just the questions how sensible it is to plan a system now if he wants to wait till April anyway when both Ivy Bridge and a broad range of new AMD 7xxx-GPUs will be released by then.
It would be nice to have the adjacent to venting holes so that they pull the air off the GPU and push it right through to the outside.
So are you going to mount the fans between GPU and side panel (as there seem to be venting holes) or between GPU and top panel?
Yeah, totally agree with you. And I am actually waiting for SPCR to check out the Noiseblocker Multiframes, their bearing is awesome.
However if the bearing is good enough (i.e. it doesn't generate any grinding noises), the 92 mm should make the same amount of noise per volume of air moved...
Dammit. I like the wee little Mac clone. Finally an mITX case which can fit proper CPU cooler (as long as the mainboard itelf doesn't screw it up) and GPUs. Too bad I am not living in Hannover any more to check out the cases on the CeBIT fair :(
Intel is going to release their Sandy Bridge CPU in April. And they stated stated that the iGPU will see a major update so it might be worth to see what it can actually be used for.
I am actually planning to do exactly the same as you. Waitingfor Ivy Bridge, building a nice SFF system without a...
Check out Noiseblocker fans. It’s a German company which is quite popular on the German market. Their Multiframe series which comes with a decoupled frame and an outstanding bearing is generally accepted as the best (and also most expensive) fan series available whereas the...
Have you tried out geizhals.de (which is a very handy price comparison site, especially for hardware). It should show you where to get the best offers. Recommended vendors are Mindfactory, K&M Computer, VV-Computer, Home of Hardware, Hardware-Versand. I have ordered from Mindfactory and...
Thanks for the answer.
Yeah I know that you bought the Titanium one. I asked because I wanted to know whether Silverstone resolved some QC issues with the Titanium version (eg the bare metal contacts of the power lead as seen in this picture)
Actually I was tempted to buy the silver one when it...
@lillimon04: I was wondering whether you noticed any of the glitches that some people report to see with their FT03s (especially the silver version):
How is the paint quality? Users of the silver seemed to have issues with this?
Are there any issues with a misalignment of the I/O-panel at...
Hey Chluz,
yes, it fits: If you google for "FT03 dark rock pro" you'll find this thread: http://forums.aria.co.uk/showthread.php/70785-My-Llano-build-and-one-for-my-Uncle/page2
Heya!
Nice rig! The Titanium version is definitely the prettiest so good choice ;)
I was jsut wondering: Is this a Seasonic X-460? I am waiting for Ivy Bridge to get myself some nice silent gear and put it into the FT03. And I was going for the X-400/460 as well but I am just worried because...
