I _finally_ received my replacement monitor, and everything works great now!
- no more vertical stripes
- can do 100hz without flickering (previous monitor was completely unstable @100Hz)
- can't find any banding issues (just used a paint program to fill the screen with blue and green...
Yeah, I returned it to the store today and after checking it (twice! - they wouldn't believe it at first) they ordereda new one. The Benelux distributor has nothing left in stock so this could take a while... :-(
BTW the store I ordered from was Alternate.be. Pretty good service though.
Just received my monitor, as a replacement for my old Dell U2311.
I think my panel has major issues, but to make sure this isn't normal behavior (it's been years since I bought a new monitor), I'd like your opinion here.
I'm experiencing narrow, vertical lines on my screen, depending on what...
I've been gaming on CRT monitors all my life, and never experienced any problems with it.
But now that my trusty old 19" CRT monitor is finally starting to die on me (I have to turn the brightness all the way up to 100% to get some light out of it), the time had come to buy a brand new LCD...
The Witcher 2 supported only 1080p before the latest patch. There are more recent games that don't natively support 1900x1200, but I can't remember them.
Thanks for some GREAT advice already.
Some additional remarks:
- I'm used to play at 1600x1200 @ 75Hz (max refresh rate at this res) on my CRT.
If I dropped the refresh rate to 60hz, would it give me a 60hz LCD-like experience? Or are those hertzes two completely different things?
- My...
Thanks for all the information.
I've read dozens of review on tftcentral, as well as on flatpanelshd.com and prad.de, so I kinda know the pros and cons of each type of lcd panel. The hardest part is: which flaw is the least annoying when mainly playing games?
It would be interesting if anyone...
Now that my trusty old 19" CRT monitor is finally starting to die on me (I have to turn the brightness all the way up to 100% to get some light out of it) the time has come to buy a (*shudder*) LCD monitor.
I'm not happy I have to do this, cause the IQ of the LCD screens my friends have (all TN...
I read some people play games like Deus Ex on this monitor.
Are these Dell IPS panels really suited for playing FPS games? I'm not a professional gamer, but I like playing games like BFBC2, Deus Ex and F1 2010.
Ah didn't know that. Never had any troubles with v-sync on my CRT.
Still looking to replace my trusty old CRT, but I can't find any LCD that comes even close. I like those IPS panels (like the Dell U2311H) but they're supposed to be very slow for gaming, and those 120hz panels might be nearly...
Just a noob question (never used a LCD monitor myself for gaming):
everybody complains about screen tearing on 60hz LCD monitors; doesn't it go away when turning v-sync on? Or is there a reason why someone would leave v-sync off?
I'm thinking about buying a Dell U2311 screen.
Is it good for gaming? I would use it particularly for gaming, and I don't want a TN display cause they suck.
Thanks for the reply.
It's weird since my monitor obviously supports 1024x768.
Is this an Asus related problem, or will all P67/Z68 MB's have this problem? Because that mean's I'll have to buy a new monitor :(
It's a very cheap, brandless USB keyboard. It works perfectly in UEFI, until I...
Since I installed my Asus P8P67 Pro system, I'm experiencing some very weird problems.
The UEFI is in some incorrect resolution, so I can't see the lower and right part of the BIOS screen (like when trying to see a 1024x768 image on a 800x600 screen). Plus there are some area's with gfx...
Same problem here. I can't see the lower and right part of the UEFI BIOS interface. Plus there are some areas with gfx corruption. I'm using an ATI HD4870X2 card, connected with a DVI/VGA adapter to a 19" CRT monitor.
Asus P8P67 Pro B3
BIOS v. 1305.

If I leave my PC unattended for some time, when I return the screen is black. I press any key and while I hear the fans suddenly speeding up, nothing appears on screen.
But then, even when I try a cold reboot, the PC doesn't POST: screen stays black and I hear no beeps. Only after unplugging...
