Yeah sorry about that, I had gone through and re-edited because I bought my RAM yesterday due it being a pretty good deal especially after the rebate. I tried to change the remaining prices but forgot about that part. I went with the SATA 6.0 just because of the original issue on the Sata 3.0...
On the remaining parts, I'd like to spend around $350 WITHOUT the monitor included. It's a Gaming PC build, I'll go through and re-edit the post here in a couple minutes for clarification. For now, $350 on the remaining parts w/o monitor included. Can be a little more if need be, less is always...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
**Gaming**
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
**$350 for remaining parts, not including monitor or taxes/shipping!**
3) Where do you live?
**Grand Rapids, MI**
4) What exact parts do you need for...
I can afford to go with 8GB, I was just previously recommended that I'd only need 4GB for gaming, I was considering going to a 1600 speed, I just liked the cost of only 42 bucks, but I know in the long run I'd end up expanding to more RAM, so I may just step up to 8 and if not at least go up to...
I could always swap the 2G sticks out in the future for 2 4G sticks tho correct? Didn't you mention that I only really need 4G of RAM for gaming, should I step up to 8G total? Maybe I read that somewhere else...
I'm building a new computer for gaming, I am using the new Sandy Bridge i5-2500K processor and a GA-P67A-UD3P motherboard by Gigabyte. I found some RAM that I was looking to use for it, but don't know if it would be the best fit. I'm not a big overclocker either. This is what I was looking at...
DannyBui, I was looking at RAM for my computer, and I came across this kind. I was wondering if this would work as well as the RAM you had previously recommended for me?
CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMV4GX3M2A1333C9...
Thank you for clarifying that, just wanted to make sure. I know the risks I am taking for the time being, I ordered now because I am eligible for the new parts on both ends once they are avail in April. Lord willing, I won't run into problems until then!
Is the 650W PSU ample enough for my setup? I noticed on my GPU choice (XFX 6950) that it recommends at least a 500W. I just wanna make sure that with all the other parts, that will be enough.
I lucked out too, when I ordered my Gigabyte board, they had 4 left in stock :) I also ended up paying like 10-15 bucks cheaper. I am glad a snagged that and my processor before they were all gone from the recall... now I am set up to get the new and improved parts when they release in April-ish :)
I've called Intel and so far they told me that if I were to order an i5-2500K still, I am eligible to send in the parts to get the new ones once available. So at this point I am prolly going to stick with my build and potentially deal with the hassle when it comes due time in April... Otherwise...
Thank you for clarifying my bad wording again :), and to also add I checked up on my current monitor (it's a Viore 19 inch TV w\ VGA\HDMI outputs) when ran under computer settings it has a max resolution of 1280 x 1040. I don't think it makes a huge difference in these circumstances, but I...
I was really hoping to have my computer built and ready to go by March 22nd, that was my deadline that I was hoping to have it all together by. I wish there was a way to get the older i5, but upgrade to the new one once it became available.
Yeah from what I have gathered, everything has it's own issues. Heard plenty of pro's and con's from both sides, right now I am most likely going with the ATI/AMD 6950. I don't have super high resolutions so I don't have to worry about maxing that out and if I went to any kind of multi-monitor...
I'll do that as soon as I get home to see what I come up with, that would be a total bummer to order a card to realize it wouldn't fit lol. I wonder if the card varies in size depending on the make too.
Does it effect your gaming a lot, or nothing too noticeable?
One other thing I was told is that a 6950 may not fit in my case (Rosewill CHALLENGER).

I feel like I can relate pretty well to you here just cause I am an avid WoW player too (I play on Frostmane). Right now I will be using just one monitor, but I do feel that in the future I will most likely move to at least 2 monitors, thus another reason I have leaned more towards the 6950.
Wow, lots of info and a great debate to come back to :) haha. I think in the future I will most likely go to more than one monitor with a higher resolution... so I am leaning towards the 6950 just due to that fact alone. The money I'd save with the GTX 560 is nice, and I know that WoW generally...
That was poorly worded on my part, I don't have a 6850, this is a new build... I meant that as in I was considering a 6850 originally, and decided to go with a 6950 instead.
I had feedback from a guy on reddit that a 6950 may not fit into my case, which cause some concern. I use a Rosewill CHALLENGER.

1366 x 768 resolution on a 19 inch monitor (It's also a TV), but I may move up to a 21-23 inch (dont know the res on that yet due to not owning it lol)
I have been looking at GPUs lately. I'll be building a new computer in about 3 weeks, I was originally looking at a 6950 up from a 6850. I had a reccomendation come in about a GTX 560. Anyone have some more feedback on a great card in the $200-$300 price range? As I mentioned I've been comparing...
I am going to go with the i-5, and regardless of the combo or not if I were to buy those pieces individually it would only add like 10-20 bucks onto my cost, nothing drastic. I'm going to buy either a 6850 or a 6950 GPU, which i'd consider pretty high end, right? So between the i-5 2500K and the...
It does fall in my budget for sure, I added up my parts but with the i-5 combo and it will come out to about $772 :) almost perfect, and if I do need to go over I can make that work! I really like what I am hearing and seeing as far as the i-5 goes, especially the new generation. I just hope...
Hooray haha, well that makes me happy. I went through and made a new "wish list" with the intel parts, it'll end up about 100 bucks more, which still isn't bad. I've read that going with intel is generally more quality. Am I hearing correct things?
The graphics card would work too? I was under the impression that I could only use an Nvidia GTX card with intel boards... cause that combo is a pretty good deal. The only reason I was straying away from an Intel build was because I thought I'd have to buy all new hardware. If most of the parts...
