Hi all, I'm a bit insecure of what to do.
I have been using and Areca 1220 for years running 5 x 1TB in RAID 5. Been running like clockwork.
Yesterday I upgraded my computer, went to the MSI GD65 mainboard with Z77 chip. After installing all and running fine, I plugged in my Areca and...
I was just wondering which sync software is good for my use.
I backup to external hdd's. The things i need to backup are photographs, e-mails en some programs. And instead of backing up by just copying folders to the external hdd's, i now want to go to a small easy to use sync program...
Mhh, strange indeed. I really haven't got a clue. I'm not familiar with LSI, so perhaps a post in the LSI topic might get you the answer you seek.
On my Areca 1220 speeds go up to around 350-400mb/s with 5 7K1000.C in raid 5. So it should be able to do a lot better.
Wow, seen some beautifull cases come by. Lovely.
I got my first Lian-Li PC-9F last week. Not modded so far, except for blue cold cathodes. But i'm getting inspired buy the others :D
I don't know he card myself. You say you use the extended antenna. First of all try to place the antenna as high as possible, this also goes for the router. Higher is better with antennas.
You say you work in your garage. I don't know the construction of your garage, but most ones i know use an...
I put Win 7 on it, my photoshop stuff, and CoD Black Ops. ( 60gb Vertex-2 ) got room to spare, works fast. Ik can only play 1 game at a time, so only CoD is installed there.
All the rest goes onto my normal hdd's
I've been using the S&S Steelpad for years. Perfect pad, love it. Before i was using the Icemat. Verry expensive, noisy and the damn thing could break ( wich it did after falling from my desk... )
Steelpads all the way :)
Thanks for the fast replies, appreciate it.
Ok, here is were i will buy them probably: http://azerty.nl/8-969/grafische-kaarten.html
The GTS 450 from either type of brand go from about €110 to 180.
The GTX 460 runs from €140 and up.
HD 5750 from €104 to 130
HD 6850 are around...
An SSD works just like your normal 3.5"rotating HDD. Just plug it in, set your motherbord BIOS to run in AHCI mode on the SATA channel, and your good to go.
Boot from Windows cd, format, partition, install windows, drivers etc. All like normal.
TRim doesn't ring a bell here, so can't help with...
Hi all,
I'm looking into an new video-card, but can't make heads or tales from it. I'm from the generation 4200GT, 6600GT, 9800gt etc.
At this moment I'm running my old 7600gt/td. I do a lot of photography, but this card works ok. Now however, i bought CoD Black-Ops, and I'm finding it...
I recently bought myself the OCZ Vertex-2 60GB for only 109 incl. shipping ( Holland )
This thing is bloody fast. The read/writes are around 265mb/s constant.
I run Win7 64bitt, PSPX3 and CoD Black-Ops from it, still have room to spare, and did i mention it was faasssttt haha.
I...
But that is a software raid card right? I would look for a nice used hardware raid card ( own cpu and memory )
Because it won't make much difference performance wise, you can just use windows for raid or your motherboard.
But i can be mistaken of course.
Just a quick little question. I'm very happy with my old trusted 1220, but say the card dies, i need more slots, faster connection ( SATA-6gb, SAS ) etc. etc.
How do i handle this? Can i buy any newer model Areca and plug in the existing array and work happily into the future, or am i going to...
Why don't you look here for example: http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-PERC5i-PERC-5i-5-i-256MB-RAID-SAS-SATA-Card-GT281-/270686142919?pt=COMP_EN_Networking_Components&hash=item3f0626c1c7
Nice card, cheap.

Krobar explains it perfectly to me, and how it works. Since a couple of days now, i've been running an Areca 1220 with 5 flashed...
I wouldn't mind at all, here you go:
My system is running an Intel Core2 Duo 6400 and 3gb DDR2 @ 6400 and Windows 7 64bitt
HD Tach was run in compatible mode Windows XP-SP3
First run 8mb
Second running 32mb
ATTO 2GB
CrystalDisk 2Gb
Looking good i think hehe.
Not bad for a computer...
True, but if you find a good deal on a sale ore something, it might be worth having a look.
I recently got Iomega 1TB external hdd's for 59 each, which is pretty cheap in my book
First of all, Thank you very much Krobar for the great help.
As of now, i have my machine up and running perfectly. Had a few problems, but all is working correctly now.
Here is a couple of pics from my new setup, if i may :)
Thanks all, for the great help...
Problem solved...
It seemed that by connecting the 1tb hdd's the larger than 2tb thing went into action. Causing problems with items like 64LBA en GPT format.
I removed the drives, installed 2 80gb old drives, booted and McRaid came back, as well as BIOS. Deleted all, updated alle...
Hi all,
I'm rebuilding my computer into a new case and upgrading from 250gb disks to 1tb disks. My problems started like this:
Ik installed 5 new Hitachi 7K1000.C drives to the areca. All previous array's were deleted. First time round, McRaid found it all, worked ok. I noticed that drive...
Whoops, talked to fast.
Ok, then these files i put on the usb stick are:
JPDL_SP.exe ( from 3EA file )
JP0NB3MA.BDX ( from 3MA file )
Those two, on the stick, remove all hdd's, insert hitachi, boot, run exe and ready?
Correct?
Wow, perfect service, can;t thank you enough.
My drives should arrive tomorrow, so i can get prepared hehe.
Today i got my first SSD, damn those things are fast... They blow my current 3 disk RAID 5 and 3 disk RAID 0 away... 265mb read/write... Damn...
But i think the Hitachi's will do a...
I am a semi-pro photographer. With 20mb+ per picture it goes fast. RAW files and photo-shopped files. I use 16gb CF cards which fill up fast when shooting a wedding for example.
And than my own collection of 80's music/video Yep, it's going faster every day haha.
Thanks. Just have to find out were and how to upgrade those 3EA firmware. I'm taking the leap, and orderd 5 7K1000.c drives ( and yet another external hdd for backup haha )
Hope to start assembling and testing soon.
Thanks so far, apriciate it.
Thanks for the comments.
I'll look into the firmware asap.
I've just orderd them, and hope to give you positive feedback soon hehe.
Those drives cost me 48 euro's a piece, so verry low price indeed.
Ok, think this might be a cross-post, sorry iff so.
Are there people here using the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C drives running RAID 5 on the Areca? I see lots of people use the 7K2000 to good effect. Does the same go for the 7K1000.C? Planning on running 6 of them on an Areca 1220 in RAID 5.
Can...
Hi there, and sorry for the bad Englisch ( I'm Dutch hehe ) This is my first, and certanly not last post on this great forum i hope.
I'm looking to upgrade my system, but i'm having a verry hard time deciding wich hdd's to get. I am using the Areca 1220 raid controller, and would like to...
