Nvidia sli is new to me , with amd generally it just needs to be in the Same family of cards
Aka 980 for single gpu games , and a 970 to sli to in games that support sli
Well in the UK 295X2 is down to £680 and 970's are between £250-£300 also 980's are £500+
I have a 295X2 in the box for my new build and im still unsure what to do, im not very good with choices. I do wonder what resale valuer a 295X2 will have in 18 months though,
UK distance selling law allows anything brought online aka remotely to be returned as no cost apart from postage within 14 days of delivery even if used.
Just seems abit crazy not to get the latest tech, but a 295x2 does allow expansion and the Corsair 750D does have quite restricted airflow...
I ordered a 295X2 which arrives tomorrow for £685 , though i can now get 970 SLI for between £500 - £600. Im really not sure what to do, i went for the 295X2 to reduce the amount of heat dumped into my case, though it does look like 970's in SLI should run cooler than my 280X's. But on the flip...
I do agree with ashman on this , ironically I'm a storage specialist as my day job managing multiple petabytes on many platforms.
But at home I use net gear nas's. They sit there and serve data fast enough to stream to a coupe of units at once. I am currently hitting some bottlenecks though...
Easiest is go reference or so and use the red mod aka closed loop cooler
But with 3 cards in there might be tight , though looking at the reviews there doesn't seem much benefit in tri fire apart from some people say it feels smoother
For various reasons I own several cards , and I'm getting a new I machine and I need to work out what to sell or buy
I have , 5850,6850,7850,7850 xt,7970
I'm using a dell u2410 and ideally I want games with all the options turned on, fps mainly.
Do I keep the 7970 and wait later to buy a 2nd for...
Its the limit of your hard ware, i had a play with my old 2.6ghz P4 and 720p using various codecs/players works mostly ok, once you hit 1080p no chance really.
And as i recall the 7K series doesnt support DXVA acceleration properly, though im not sure even with a new vga card you will be ok...
many thanks
does seem strange you cant pass through 7.1 on a sound card, as your just asking for data to be sent undecoded.
I did think about 8800GT and 5450 in the machine as well but there is only one PCIE slot it seems.
Think ill sell the 8800GT and maybe but something that can play some...
I have been given a core 2 duo dell vostro and my plan is to make this into a XBMC media center.
I also have a spare geforce 8800GT, so perhaps some light gaming as well on the big screen.
I will be connecting via a onkyo amp to a 1080p projector. Using a DVI to HDMO converter.
As the...
oh there are differences but they key thing is it pretty much works at 720p/1080i or 1080p or it doesnt.
There is no picture difference and cannot physically be a better picture because its a pure digital non error corrected signal.
If you need long HDMI cables you really need to buy them from a...
There seems to be some issues with onboard nics, after setting mine to 100mbit full, i have had no network issues.
So perhaps a pcie 1gb card would help, fairly cheap.
onboard raid is dangerous, far easier to replace a raid card than your mother board, and raid card moves to a new system etc.
Also nice to have a battery backed cache if possible.
Also when considering 1-2TB Sata drives, i would not reccomend raid 5,
I will not go into the maths, but you geta...
First id like to apologise if somethings i ask are fairly basic, as i specialise in large Disk arrays and not server hardware/os's anymore.
After having almost every version of the Netgear media players over the years i now wish to move to a htpc after getting annoyed with the limitations of...
because a hdmi signal is pure digital without error correction, any old cable should be fine.
I will caveat this point sometimes poor cables especially at longer length can struggle to do 1080p.
Especially for 10+ metres i would spend a bit more bit monster are way overpriced and over sold.
You...
