I've only tried up to CCC max 1050 core on stock voltage with my sapphire 7850. I'll try more later, but no need now as my q8300 is bottlenecking my performance.
After bf3 mutiplayer temps hover around 55 C and I never hear a peep out of the fans. Very happy with the performance...
Yes, my stock q8300 is bottlenecking my 7850. Too bad I can't my overclock my cpu because computer is a prebuilt.
I'll probably upgrade soon to a 3570k.
Still debating whether I should upgrade now or later. I'm gonna want a 3570k and 256gb ssd, probably gonna cost me around $600 for all my parts. I can only reuse my power supply and radeon 7850.
A stock q6600 will bottleneck a 7850, by how much I don't know though, will depend on the game too.
I just installed my sapphire 7850 and have a stock q8300 which is basically equivalent to a q6600. Played some witcher 2. Overclocking my gpu core from 860 to 1050 didn't change fps at all...
MSI 7850 power edition, no where in sight. Lame, would have bought at the right price.
No stock on their regular 7850 either at least at the places I shop at. Much easier to find an asus or sapphire.
Yeah if your fan is making noise, good chance it is faulty or about to go.
Dust and poorly applied thermal paste can cause high temps as well. I'm running evga precision software with a 9800gt and have it set to where it alarms when temps go over 85 C. It started going off so I decided to...
Have fun waiting. There is a right time for everybody. Prices will always go down eventually.
Playing bf3 with my 9800gt, I want my upgrade now. I could have gotten a 6950 for $200 about 7 months ago, waiting since then didn't benefit me much. But I really wanted to see performance benefit...
LOL, nvidia has nothing on the 7850. 660 not for another 6 months.
$200 would be great but not gonna happen though. I see 7870 seeing a price drop next. At $350 it is way overpriced.
If nvidia wants to go to price war against the 7850, they need price drops on 560 ti 448's and 570's.
I actually had ordered the evga 560 448 core for $191 after rebate at amazon. Cancelled it because wanted to wait and see what happens and wasn't sure if vram was enough. Maybe I should have went for that deal.
Yeah, my backordered sapphire 7850 is expected to come back in stock in a couple days. Pretty sure made right decision now after seeing this price.
Would have cancelled order if 670 was priced at $350. Oh well.
Buying a product with the intention of returning at a later date is shady and raises prices for everybody. Makes return policies more strict too. This kind of crap really grinds my gears.
Never had a sapphire before, but I recently ordered a sapphire 7850 despite a low 2 year warranty. Asus, MSI, Gigabyte offer 3 year I believe. XFX offers lifetime for certain models.
Get a 7850 for $250, most overclock fairly well. I would not get 570 old tech, less vram, less efficient.
A 7870 at $300 is not really worth waiting for, even if it drops to that price, because that is what it should have been priced at. Overclocked 7870 vs overclocked 7850 is not much...
I find it easy to believe looking at how much stock they have of 570's and 560 448's all over the place, it sure isn't coming soon like not within a month for sure.
I'll care about the 670 if it's priced at $350. Then I can cancel my 7850 which is on backorder. If priced at $399, then I want to let the order go through.
660 is gonna be 6 months away, really don't care about that anymore. LONG time away.
My 7850 is on backorder. Still have chance to cancel order.
I wish nvidia would just release official 670 info, worried about affecting 580 sales perhaps. Seems pretty sure coming at $399 though.
570's seem to be fully stocked as well, seems true the rumor of 660ti coming 6 months later.
Damn, I thought 660ti would release with the 670. Guess not. 6 months later is a long time.
Looks like it's 7850 or pony up for the 670 for me. Too bad the 7950 is too long to fit it my case without some case mods.
You need to set the realtek sound output to default and advanced settings on dolby digital live.
This will convert all audio to dolby digital. I am connected to my monitor with dvi. I had to duplicate video output to get hdmi audio sound working.
Using 9800gt and denon avr-1712
Damn, was hoping the 670 would be $350. I figured it would be $399 though. It will be hard for me to pull the trigger at that price.
Wonder how the 660 ti will perform compared to the 7850.
I would say buy now is usually the better option. But then again, I can't seem to follow my own advice. In the last two weeks, I ordered a 7850, then a gtx 560 ti 448 core, and cancelled both to wait for more kepler cards.
I was going to buy a radeon 6950 around last october near bf3 release...
Thanks for the response.
Sounds like hdmi is the way to go. Less money, better sound quality.
However, I wonder if this works with both 28nm amd and nvidia cards.
Stuff I own:
Windows 7 - 64bit
geforce 9800gt (replacing soon with radeon 7850/7870 or kepler) - has hdmi with spdif connector connected to my motherboard
asus xonar dg - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132020
denon avr-1712 -...
Yeah, it's worth a shot to still order since amazon is still letting you buy and since this deal is pretty nice.
I wasn't even planning on getting this, but price was too good.
Fermi inventory needs to deplete and kepler availability needs to increase. Midrange definitely needs some more pressure from nvidia to force amd price drops.
I wonder how well the 7850/7870's are actually selling, doesn't seem that well. High prices hurt company image as it can be seen as...
Finally some more rumors. They help somewhat with waiting, i'll probably be picking up a 670 ti if they do well in reviews. If it performs better than a 7950 at $350, then that would be great.
