I am also running a setup similar in principle. I have an ESX 4 box with an Areca 1880i in it. I boot ESX off of a 2.5" drive. I created 1 Windows Storage Server VM and used PCI passthrough to assign the Areca raid controller to the Storage Server VM.
The Storage Server VM runs microsoft's...
Agreed, 2GB is plenty for an htpc.
Couldn't agree more. The only things that really matter are which speakers you have, where are they placed with respect to where do you sit/how is your room shaped, what leveling of your speaker setup have you done, and does your amp have enough juice to...
Seems to me it would be a lot more useful to a lot more people if all the known information was included, rather than just a small subset of people. As you said, the OP is only currently useful for those purchasing a new card, but that is a very small subset of the total people who might be...
There are host file management tools that make using a larger hosts file on a small scale user group tolerable.
HostsXpert is one of them. As you said, the only problem with a hosts file is that you cannot use wildcards, and so no *.google.com. You have to put in mail.google.com, google.com...
Death on install is probably unsupported hardware. Check the HCL or look at the various whitebox sites and lists of hardware people have gotten to work.

I run 12GB and I routinely end up using 10GB+ due to apps being open, a game perhaps, and 50 to 60 chrome tabs heh. I didn't think I'd be using all 12, but definitely I do.
Also, if you have 12GB ram, then you can throw 2 or even 4 at a ramdisk and point your temp dirs at it. Saves on your...
The signature can only make sense if they also verified the ID of the person who made the signature and took a copy of the ID. It's a total scam designed to shift responsibility around between the players in the chain, and guess who's left holding the bag? Yup, you.
It's no different than how...
You can use deveject.exe, although I have not used it on 2008 before, only scripted it in 2003 and XP. I assume it'll work, give it a shot. Lots of example scripts floating around, just search for the program name and "script".

That's because it's a google chrome specific formatted message. All browsers report error timed, but chrome reports it in that format.
It just means your browser could not connect to whatever page you were trying to get to. You'll have to narrow down the issue since it's intermittent, it...
Imho, the way to do the migration is to take a drive image with a boot cd of drive imaging software that can recognize your raid controller and the array. Then verify that image is correct and non corrupted.
Then go create your new array and initialize it.
Then restore your image to whatever...
On the DFI Lanparty NF4 board, if the areca and the expander were filling both PCIe slots, then the board would power up in a strange way. It would have to scan the PCI slots multiple times in order to boot, often with both cards in the slots the Areca would fail the PCI bus test and not boot...
I've tried the Areca cards in 5 different motherboards so far. 2 were server class and 1 we'll call prosumer and 2 were gaming boards.
I got the Arecas to work in all of them, in fact, sometimes they worked for 2 years before having an issue..but every single non server class board exhibited...
If you want to mess with tweaking 10Gbe connections just install esxi and setup 2 vms. Your virtual switch runs at 10gbe so you can mess around to your heart's content.
As long as you keep all your main data on your file server and all the rest of your servers on your ESX box, then you will...
If it was really a keylogger then just formatting your PC is not enough. You need to
1) reformat all the PCs in your house
2) Change all passwords used in your house
3) change all passwords on all sites that mean anything to you. Bank, finances, loans, etc.
4) Do the same for all your wife's...
I didn't realize that, do you have a link? I'd like to read more.
I haven't seen it on mine, I run 2 android phones, 1 windows mobile phone, 2 xp laptops, 2 win7 laptops, and 2 ebook (pocketbook) readers on my wifi and I haven't ever had a dropout. (that I have noticed, of course)
This is always true, no matter what kind of kind of encryption you're using. So while true, I can't see what the downside is to this particular situation, since it applies to all situations.
How is it possible that the Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH is not listed on the front page as one of the highly recommended routers? I'll throw my recommendation behind it. II've thrown a lot at mine and I can't break it. I had a D-link DGL-4300, and it was definitely possible to bring it to its...
I still haven't thrown away my Toshiba MK1002MAV laptop drives heh. A massive 1083MB, most of them still work, crazily enough. 12.5mm, too, because they're so big they need a large form factor. I'd save 'em :)
You can encrypt any disk device OR parition that has been created with truecrypt and then share it over the network just fine.
For your system:
Create your raid array with hardware you have, either raid 1 or 0 or whatever. Install your OS. Install truecrypt, encrypt the system partition...
Oh I didn't realize you were using virtual servers and the nics for failover, that's different, and should be fine. I wouldn't bother removing the switch before you run the tests with jperf. It'll take all of 15 minutes.
But by lose the switch I think he meant crossover cable to eliminate...
I would use jperf. It's a gui implementation of iperf. Much, much easier to use and to quickly configure different options to narrow down the issue.

I'd also lose the teaming, you're very, very likely not getting anything by it except possible negative...
Well it must have big a really big rebate, as according to camelegg the cheapest it's been "listed" is 279.99.
I really can't decide if I should jump on this deal and get a 2nd 5870 and use up another pcie slot, or wait for the 6990 and get dual graphics chips with 1 slot only. For some...
I have a 1TB 2.5" 5400rpm (12.5mm) drive in my PS3. It's not much quieter than any of my 3.5" 5400 rpm drives. The only reason to go with 2.5" drives is to save space and stuff more drives in your available drives slots than you could with 3.5" drives. But with the advent of the 2 and 3TB...
If the purpose of such a retarded policy isn't to force people to make spammy, unneeded, and silly posts, then there needs to be a new policy....because that's exactly what it forces people to do in order to participate.
It is really, really weird that the most popular and best computer speaker system has been the same system for 4 or 5 years. No improvements, no competitors, and as others said the price has gone up and up. I got mine new from Dell a few years ago for 235 or so as well.
There must be more to...
Are you sure? I've had price alerts and been watching this card since March of 2010 when it was 400 dollars or so. Every time the price changes on newegg I get an email and sms. This is by far the lowest newegg has ever had it for.
See the price history here...
219.99 and 199.99 After Rebate, Limit 2. This is the lowest it's ever been.

I use server 2008 R2 or esx 4.1 (or soon ESX with VMDirectPath passthrough. If I were better at solaris/bsd I'd use a sas card + expander + zfs. But I know when problems occurred I'd be 10x more clueless how to fix or recover anything.
There was a thread around here with a guy who was making...
I'd be inclined to ask why you need 10gbit? What are you transferring that requires such a connection at home? The only answer I can imagine is, because I can :)
I put a 2.5" 12.5mm 1TB drive in my PS3. It's even easier than installing a standard 9.5mm drive.
Pull out old drive with cage. insert new drive without cage, put some foamy stuff on the end of the drive between the plastic cover and the drive. Screw cover back on, and you're done. the 12.5...

How essential is the BBU? I haven't ever ran one on any of my arecas, but perhaps I should? Does it really only protect against data corruption caused by sudden power failure?
I'm already running a decent ups. (Tripp Lite SmartPro 3kVA Line Sine Wave) so my servers won't have a sudden power...
