Hi Folks,
I have a PC that I built in late 2009 that's has 12GB RAM, i7 920 @ 3.7 Ghz running on a Asus P6T motherboard. I'm trying to determine what's the highest end video card I should put in to this PC. I'm assuming putting something like a GTX 980 would be overkill and the PC would not...
Thanks you for all your replies. I ended up ordering a completely new system that will hopefully last me another 6 years. Here's what I ordered.
CPU: i7 4790k
MoBo: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK1
RAM: G.SKILL Sniper Series 16GB (2 x 8GB)
SSD: SAMSUNG 850 EVO 1TB
Video Card: EVGA 04G-P4-2986-KR...
Is there a specific spec on the i7 920 that makes you say it will bottleneck a gtx980? Also, what Intel based cpu and mobo would you recommend as an upgrade (out perform i7 920 OC's 3.9ghz)? This PC is strictly for gaming.
I'm currently running two GTX 660's in SLI and I'm thinking it's time for an upgrade. I have my eyes set on a GTX 980 but I'm not sure if I should consider a new Mobo, CPU & RAM as well.
Currently running a i7 920 OC'd to 3.9Ghz on a ASUS P6T with 12GB of DDR3 PC3-12800.
Time for a new PC...
I actually have AT&T Gigapower service and I get on average 950Mbps up and down. Initially I opted-out of the "Privacy Preferences" and attempted to use my PIA vpn service to circumvent the tracking.
The problem is the fastest speed I was able to get over VPN was 133Mbps. Which is plenty fast...
I got my hands on a GL160 G6 2xXeon 2.26 72Gb RAM for a lab I'd like to setup in my house. After the initial power on the fans quite down quite a bit but there still kind of loud for my little home office.
Any suggestions on getting the fans to run at the lowest possible speed? I checked the...
I've never played any Elder Scroll game before Skyrim but I still play that game to this day. On my third play through. It would have been nice to see ESO go the GW2 business model but if the first 30 day trial is anything like Skyrim I'll probably pay for a year subscription at the discount rate.
I currently own two GTX 460 SE in SLI. I'm looking to upgrade but want to stay under $200. Wether I get a GTX 650 Ti Boost or GTX 660 (Vanilla) I'll probably add another a few months down the line when I can afford it.
Would the GTX 660 (Vanilla) be worth the extra $20 - $30?
I've been considering an upgrade for ages but it's gotten the job done so far. If I do purchase another GTX 460 SE I'll end up upgrading the case and power supply. Any suggestions on the power supply?
Another thought, being that I'm getting this card for free and I could get another one for about $120. What kind of performance do you think I could expect from an SLI setup. Here's my PC specs.

I currently have a GTX260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition 896MB and have the opportunity to swap it out with a GeForce GTX 460 SE (Fermi) 1GB. Are there any disadvantages to the GTX 460 or is it a no brainer. Here are the links to both cards.

I also like X-Fire but I can't get it to work with Counter Strike: Source or Half Life 2: Deathmatch. X-Fire detects both games but will not join the server after it launches the game. It complains about "unknown file cl_thirdperson" and "Can't use cheat cvar".
Update: I found this post on...
X-Fire looked promising but it didn't detect some of my games in Steam. Game-Monitor worked great but it doesn't have BF:Bad Company 2. What do you guys recommend for a server browser? Something with it's own client like X-Fire would be nice.
Yah I came across the stats on steam. I'm looking for exactly what steam posts but something that also considers all people playing regardless if they are using steam or not.
Is there a site that keeps track of what games people are currently playing? I remember gamespy having a site that posted these stats, but I can seem to find it.
